Shapechange and loss of spells
With the upcoming 100% RcR, is there any chance for the shapechange and the loss of spells for spontaneous caster to be looked at? Or Shapechagne will still cause those casters to lose spells?

Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
Sadly, yes. That's the problem that is buried really deep in our codebase that is basing on vanilla game issue about stuff. There is a chance we can fix it, but it may only happen during massive magic system rework as our current one is quite clunky and has tons of redundant/non-finished code from Rasael's spellbook. Trying to fix only shapeshifting will cause massive rework with even more wheels invented to overcome existing limitations that will end up breaking something else.

Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
I understand that, it has always been the case. Shapechange needs some investment in feats ( i have a build currently ) so i was planning ahead. Anyway, RIP Shapechange for sorcs. Thanks for taking the timeEasternCheesE wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 6:34 pm Sadly, yes. That's the problem that is buried really deep in our codebase that is basing on vanilla game issue about stuff. Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
The problem is only with using Races with a racial modifier to CHA, and when using extra spell slot items.

Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
Not entirely true, I have a human with +3 CHA cloak and spellcasting prodigy feat...still loose a ton of spells whenever shaping in/out of forms, without using spell slot gear.
Edit: Specifically, it's the +3 Charisma cloak that messes it up.

Casting the +4cha spell before changing should solve that for you. Does not help with slot items however.

I took me a while to find this, remembering having read it once but couldn't remember who stated it. Areilla was the one who, after they granted Sorcerers more Spells Known per level—then vanished!—also had this to say:Theodore01 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 5:58 am Casting the +4cha spell before changing should solve that for you. Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
You do lose spell slots (from items) even if you cast eagles splendor

Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
This reminds me. Ages ago, Rasael implemented a new version of spell system that could solve many issues such as loss of spells from shapechange. The first iteration was a bit clunky and there was a problem of putting spells on a hotbar. HAs anyone looked at it and is there even a remote possibility of this being worked on?

Re: Shapechange and loss of spells
Sadly, many of that code is unfinished and sits as dead weight in our magic system. And many parts are honestly overcomplicated beyond reasonable levels. Fixing some magic stuff, i also see that some basis of it has design flaws that will (and do) backfire. I doubt we will try to finish that project, it is more ambitious that crafting and all our roadmap combined given the amount of work needed to fully substitute game magic system on scripting level.mrm3ntalist wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 1:33 pm This reminds me.
