Cleric and spells, epic fishiness

Unread post by Blackhorizon »

Just putting it out here as it might or might not be a bug (I think it is). This was on Server 2 if that's of any consequence.

First time casting invisible - seems new normal.

Sometime later - no rolls (maybe this happens and it is normal?) and
I also noticed that my epic mass heal had castings available so I tried it and it worked.
  • Also, no rolls.
  • I actually tested this and when I go back to s1 the icon goes down to zero but when I portal back to s2, it's up again. My assumption is that this is NOT supposed to happen.
So something about portaling between servers. Wasn't able to see what happens if I log on s2 (is the epic spell at zero or not) and then portal to s1 (does it come up).

I tested some other spells and turning as well just to be sure and they worked as expected.

Addition: It does feel kind of twisted if intended that I could cast Epic Mass Heal but not the "lesser" version, because wouldn't the source still be the same?

I have observed that Wild Magic is not always reported, and if it is implemented as P&P, there would technically be 2 rolls - first is a caster level check to see if it goes wild, the second is the wild-magic roll. I've had something of the presumption that passing the first check means you don't see the second.

As to Epic Spells: I thought that an Epic Spell, due to the investment required by the caster*, was subject to different rules than standard magics, and accessed the weave more 'directly' than other spells. It would make sense that direct intersession of a deity may not be required, but given that it requires Kn. Religion for arcane casters, there is an equally valid argument that it could.

*: In P&P it requires quite a bit of personal XP to develop an Epic spell, and even in NWN2 you are unable to cast an Epic spell you haven't personally 'purchased' - so evidently you aren't just handed it by a god.

She seems unusually interested in cursed items.
She has also been seeking a variety of gems and stones.
