Due to our overwhelmed clerks conducting tasks vital to Baldur's Gate. The City Watch is making this post to ensure the population of Baldur's Gate is informed for a recent change in ducal law.

Due to the unstable nature of magic, All Spell Casting is Forbidden. Without known exception to The City Watch. We have been instructed that all practitioners within the city are forbidden from the use of magic. Questions concerning legal exceptions should be directed towards the city clerks.

Those found in violation of this law will be held accountable for any damage caused by the outcome of their spell, intentions will not be considered. Atop of damages to property and crimes against persons if any are harmed or killed the following punishment has been decided. If the use of magic is found to be reasonable and the mage self-reports for judgement, they may be granted the lenient fine of fifteen gold coins. ((15,000 GP)). Failure to report and stand judgement will result in a minimum fine of twenty-five gold coins. ((25,000GP)) and a sentence of five days in the dungeon.

The City Watch understands these are trying times and many mages have been longtime citizens of our city. This restriction has been decided for the security of the city and her entire population. Flaming Fist Battle Casters are conducting regular experiments with the weave trying to find a means of stability, they are doing so far from the city and any other populations at risk to themselves.
The document would be sealed with the mark of The City Watch.
