Why can you not use character like (, ), +, etc. when renaming items?

If the text entered is stored in a MySQL database and there is fear of SQL injection you can always just parameterize the input before your INSERT/UPDATE operation.

Limitation with the DMFI tool. DMs can rename using any symbol (except semicolon, actually) using a DM specific tool.
