Tainted Bloodline

"They threaten to shoot me in the head in response for me offering to help Sel"

Image
"You folks got a bad habit of offering help to those that are not appreciating"

"It wasn't you in general."

"Vol I got a question for yer, What was it like when yer cut yer own father down?"

"I was drunk with blood lust, so I killed a few orcs who thought they try anythin during the chaos. When I calmed down, felt nothing. My Father was a big mean nasty orc chief who only cared for himself."
Image
*A few months ago* -

"They violated my mother. I killed my father when I grew up and had the chance"

If a person or thing is tainted by something bad or undesirable, their status or reputation is harmed because they are associated with it. The world is not perfect and plagued with its flaws. Discrimination lies everywhere, subtlety and even openly. The world at times tends to forget we did not pick and choose how we wish to be created when we were born. He simply are. However its our upbringing, how we were raised and the experience of life that makes us all into whom and what we are. When a man is born with orc blood in his veins, it does not mean he is simply an orc that has all the intentions to ravish and raid your towns and cities.

Image
"Aye, I know that drow yer talkin about, tis the one that got converted into a surface elf. Heard the talks I did, went through some ritual or something. One of the reasons why them Elves had some big ol drama while back"

"What are you on tender?"

"I tellin yer, that drow ain't no longer a drow."

Some few will even go the lengths to divert from life's restrictions due to discrimination. Some claim others have no right to judge others, yet they judge themselves the very thing. If one was not my creator then who gives them any right to judge me period? Flaws indeed in each and every one of us. We insult blindly, we care upon reaction an either times, do we think.
"She seemed distant"

"Aye now that you mentioned it, she did seem so. I thought you were on relations with the Bladestones."

"I thought too."

"If you did nothing wrong, perhaps its me? Or maybe their tensed because of the Orc problem."

1356 DR Doron Amar-

"Halt! Stop turn back around!"

"Hey I just wanted to visit the tavern. Heard its a nice place. I can even buy you a drink if yer like?"

"Last warning I will shoot, leave now!"

"Hey hey, I ain't here for no trouble, from yer sign it says no Tieflins allowed, I ain't got no horns nor a tail, I just want to get a drink?"
Image
"Better do what she says or the only thing remaining of you is your boots"

*The arrow notched and aflame at the tip was shot forth piecing the ground before his feet by mere inches, the aim might have been a lucky miss or he moved his boot just in time or it may have been its true aim as an warning. Regardless of the case the warning was taken seriously.*

"Oi! Hey hey! Fine I leavin sheesh, just wanted to buy a drink, guessin my coin ain't good enough."

The bartender of the Broken Goblet would often tell the story of when he had tried to visit the Inn, within the Elf settlement known as Doron Amar. He would tell you..

"If yer ain't got an invitation as an outsider nor got one of their civilians for an escort, best not trek in there less yer get filled with arrows."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Burdens

"So humble"

"Receive my most humble respects. It is relieving to see that the troubled times did not weight too much upon you."
*You have no idea."

"How are things?"

"We endeavor as much as possible. And as much as we are allowed. The weave under the city is said to be damaged, and unmade. All magic ceased. And... this also affects the magic people used for the wounded."

"...troubled times has touched me, in other ways. I simply try to avoid foolish mistakes... Do you not have enough mundane remedies?"

"We have a small garden where we can grow herbs. This is not much, but this avoid any shortage.."

"Hmm..I guess you don't venture out far anymore to your ..herb gathering"

"I have many duties here, and walking alone in the forest would force too much protection over me."

Image

"Do you not have someone that could gather them for you?"

"Most have also duties to attend to."

"Most have duties? From what I've seen, they surely aint doing duties properly.."

"I would be a poor judge of people's actions... But I shall be there if any suffers and need mending."

"Aye , I remember. Even the goblins you would see to it they passed..properly...Well then, I shall not delay you further..Priestess."

"You are kind; Is there anything you required or wished, before we part ways again?"
*I require nothing for I have the means to everything, and even to help you this very night.*

*His grin was wide and it looked almost playful* "Why ..you already given it to me. Will be seeing you perhaps... Soon hopefully, if naught, I will send someone."

*He rubs a iridescent rainbow colored gem with shifting hues that looks almost like liquid in-between his fingers. *

Life is a mystery, and it should be so, for the sorrow that accompanies being human and the choices one will have to make is a burden, too heavy for most to know before their time comes. And also in my view the heavier the heart got, the stronger one became for having to keep carrying it around. Strange however, that I never recalled having to slow my pace just so another could keep up. And yet they did not have to carry such the weight, but they have always chosen too.

"One of the biggest sicknesses this world has is expectation. We all expect other people to be a certain way or to do a certain thing. Most people, they spend their whole lives under the wants of other people."

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Misadventure..

Somewhere deep within the Yuan Ti temple...

Image

"AHH! MY HAIR"
"Oi!!"
"What the bloody hells !!
*She shakes her head sending stray hairs flying around*
*He checks his head but it was bald*
Image
"Uh... Did you lose it all?"
"Mhm...!"
"... It's payback from Netanya?"
"Well aint know about you but...I use to shave my hair ...*He glances at her head and smirks*
"I can pull off bald!"
Image
"We shall see."
"Wonder what Rose will say" *He laughs*
"I'll get a snake tattoo on top"

"Hot-hot-hot!"
"Oi! Yer need to be careful castin!"
"I am!"
Image

When the face of mishaps is painted on a persons face, why why why why are they still persistent to continue the same thing over and over ..that is what many call insanity...

The bartender of the Broken Goblet at that moment wondered...

"With the way magic is unstable and unpredictable, why is it these people continue using it ..Bloody damn finger wigglers.."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Rumors...

Rumors,..when they come into the Goblet or within the bartenders ears, it's always exciting. The bartender of the Broken Goblet likes to shares news and rumors with patrons. But he only shares them, if they asked. The smart ones always ask. The smarter ones, pay for extra. It's been known around this part of the Sword Coast that a shared campfire, could and may get you the latest of rumors or words from the roads.

Image

But not everybody enjoys or likes campfire talks.
Others prefer to sit at a bar. Drinks on top of the bar for them to stare into their tankers, mugs or even goblets.
A lass next to them or even on their lap flirting or sharing in some carousing, simply having a good time and engaging in conversations.

Image

Some of those conversations from drunken lips tend to speak of whispered rumors if their meant to be whispered at all. The latest or the most secretive of rumors, intriguing stories, or the trending word of the roads...

Image

Sometimes even things from the city of Baldur's reaches the ears of the bartender of the Broken Goblet. Even things far down the Trade Way and even up in the far North. It's often convenient for travelers, or adventurers to simply walk to a location to get leads to happenings or pick up on rumors. However it doesn't mean that it will forever be easy. The Broken Goblet welcomes all. But it never means it will be a comfortable visit for the ones not made of sterner stuff. A place filled with pirates, thieves, smugglers, murderers and whatever other horrid or down right filth that may frequent it. Although sometimes, decency finds their way to the Broken Goblet. Something soft, sometimes something prissy. If they conduct themselves proper, they too can fit right in. If they can't...it is often felt, if not shown.

Image

But the rumors forever flows. Such as the attack of halfling villages, the infighting of the Underdark, the politics of the Crowns. The treaty with the Zhentarims. Even the several murder mysteries within the gates of Baldur's.

Image

Talks and tales speak of the many bodies being found in Baldur's Gate. People investigating, others seeking the ones responsible. The funny thing is, within the Shore', there had been their own pile of bodies, nearly every day as well. The Wagon gives proof if not the many hanging corpse. The only difference however, is that within the Shore, such the thing is quite common.

Image

Bodies upon bodies, murder after murder..

Image

However, sometimes even out on the roads, the forests, the streets of towns, villages, and cities, the bartender of the Broken Goblet can run into news. After all, even he frequents other taverns to seek out rumors.

Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet will tell you...
"It's good sometimes to walk about and travel around for a bit of air, because you just never know what you and yer friends just might run into."

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Done Not Done..

The Gods returned to their heavens..is it true? It seems to be so, for magic once wild and broken is now mended. Are the most interesting days ahead of us, or did we all leave it in the past? The bartender awoke and prepared to head to the bar. As he entered the drinking area to proceed to the bar someone was there , not a frequent patron but one that has came before. Quite a long while before.

Image

Drows, other known as dark elves. In many ways, the drow resembled other elves. Their bodies were wiry and athletic, while their faces were chiseled and attractive, though they were shorter and thinner than other elven sub-races. Due to a process of selective breeding that lasted for several generations, the drow especially nobles looked attractive even in comparison to other elven subraces. Though their alluring appearance could be used for seduction, it was more often utilized to instill fear. And it seems since the war has ended by treaties, the Goblet once again gets drows for patrons.

Image

"Maybe you should tell such patrons to get a better personality, perhaps magic can help."

"Oh round here we got other means" *He lifts a finger and casually swipes it across his neck*

"So uncivilized"

"Aye you can call it that, such the thing in Roaringshore where nearly anything goes. Quite fun to watch sometimes."

"Drunks puking out their innards entertaining?"

"Eh? Was a woman's cheek that got cut off while ago and a dog ate the flesh. But hey, that's the sorta stuff that happens around here. Tis the Shore."

The Gods returning to their heavens and magic acting as it should, is what many would call normal. But then again within the Broken Goblet during the Time of Troubles, things had always remained normal for the bartender and his patrons. Other then a plague of slugs and water elementals coming up from the grates. Magic never worked within the Goblet to begin with. The bartender would tell you...

"Magic ain't ever worked in here, every bloody day in the Broken Goblet is a
time of trouble..."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Becoming Gods

"Hail Cyric, friends !"

Image

"Whats a Cyric?"
*I've heard that name before*

"He's a man. Powerful, sure, since he killed the Lord of Murder, but..."
*The man on the bridge?*

"Wait wait, Cyric that fella on the bridge? And wots a Shriver?"
*I saw this Cyric*

"Someone tasked with leading stray souls to the One True Way."
*Well this man has devout written all over him*

"Lord Cyric has always been divine."

"He... clearly wasn't a God till well... the whole incident.."
*He slayed a God that's for sure, I witness with my own eyes*

"If he's the greatest God ever, does he have some... dogma, or teachings?"

"Bane, Myrkul and Bhaal."

"Wot!? Cyric took all their places?"
*That can't be good*

"All I know for certain is that salvation is only possible through Lord Cyric."

"Salvation from what?"

"From the jaws of Abyss and the hosts of the Nine Hells."
*Shite*

"Cyric is the One and the All. He has claimed Myrkul's domain and repurposed it in His image. He rules from the City of Strife and all souls are His to judge."

"See this is why I avoid religious talk, it bloody makes my brain hurt."
*I witness the events of that day on the bridge..this..Cyric..*

Memories recounts the final moments on the Bridge

Image

*I remember that day, so he was the man that killed a God.*

But I know that name from else where...where did I hear it?...SHITE!...Yes! The massacre of Halfings..The Company of the Scorpions, ..the Hin Village near Cormyr..so he was the one seeking the Tablets of Fate..and leveled the village to a bloody ruin just because they villagers refused to give one of the Tablets. Divine the man claims...hardly, the One and All he says..more like lies. I heard the rumors, and the talks from dock workers in the Gates to that fella that came into the Goblet that one day. Me and Volstagg interrogated him, so he was speaking the truth.

The bartender watched and listen to the man claiming to be the "Shriver" for Cyric. He looked upon the mans breast plate and stared at the strange insignia he's never seen before. A design of a sun burst of purple and black surrounding a skull.

Image

*Hmm, then what of the Zhentarims? What of Darkhold? I will need to travel far and see for myself.*

Much later after crossing the Heartlands..

Image

"I'm told you had a message?"

*Brown eyes averts glancing at the Laws, Rules and Regulation sign then quickly glances back at the female figure* "I bare a message ....guessin yer know him. He had asked me if I could pass on a message that , he would like to met you."

"Surely he knows the way. Did he want to meet somewhere else?"

"The Broken Goblet. Yer already know the place, seen yer there the other day . He frequents over there. Performs once in awhile."

"Alright. Thanks for letting me know."

" Well then, guess my task is done." *He gave a nod while glancing up at the flaming stone dragon heads with a raises brow* "Nice place...good day hmm."

The bartender turned to take his leave, walking down the dark steps before the towering castle. Guards and Sentries all around, alert and ready. Who was that lady of bones truly he wondered as he took the last step.

Image

One thing was for certain, he surely didn't see the same insignia as the Shriver had on his breastplate anywhere or on the flags. And the lady he had just spoken too, surely ain't had it either. But she did have a lot of bones on a pair of nice hips. But they were not painted or stitched on. More than likely they were skulls that once belong to some dummies or another.

The bartender was met with an escort. The wind was cold but he was able to endure the chill as he walked out of the big gates of Darkhold. As he approached the caravan, he squinted through the freezing air while glancing over the bridge wondering...why did he agree to come to this place after hearing so much horrid rumors.

Anniversary of Something, with the Goblet in Mind...

Image

He stepped out of his car and planted his shoes upon the wet concrete, while feeling the rain fall upon him. He looked up letting his face take the rain head on while taking a deep breath thinking sarcastically , "It would rain on me this day, October the 27th."

He stepped off the boat and planted his booted feet upon the docks of the Shore. The night was foggy and the rain began to fall, he smirked to himself thinking, it would rain on him this day..27th of Marpenoth.

The sound of a song played by a online gaming friend plays in his head while vividly thinking about all the other players that attended the servers Broken Goblet.

The sounds of a song played by a known minstrel rings in his head, putting the bartender in a solemn mood.

"My mother told me
Someday I would buy
A galley with good oars
Sail to distant shores.."

Whoever said that loss gets easier with time was a liar. Here's what really happens: The spaces between the times you miss them grow longer. Then, when you do remember to miss them again, it's still with a stabbing pain to the heart. And you have guilt. Guilt because it's been too long since you missed them last. In a Harry Potter book it was once said, "Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch. The bartender of the Broken Goblet would say, "Those we love can be lost to death. So best cherish every moment yer can get even if yer feel greedy."

Image

After a hot shower and prepping a mug of black coffee, he placed himself at his computer screen. He opens the BGTSCC forum link and clicks on the New Posts Links and reads the many threads posted until he reaches the Broken Goblet thread. He wonders.."What kind of a night BG is going to give me?" He had not opened the Neverwinter Nights 2 game yet. The day of work was dragging. Not because he was that busy, nor was it the face he have to deal with listening to prissy officials and their political and election talks. It was because today was the 27th of October. The day he lost the most unconditional loving woman in his life many years ago.

Image

The bartender thought of the many times his mother like mentor would make him see the many opportunity within Baldur's Gate. He had spent years around the Coast in various places. But now he was in the Shore. The fun he was having, the interesting days and nights he experienced was overwhelming to him. His mind went back in time of the many trainings, teachings, lectures and even disciplining moments. Those very days had its own fun, and experience that was overwhelming. After all, it shaped the very man that he had become.

He grabbed his mug of coffee and took a careful long sip of the hot caffeinated liquid. He then placed his hand on the mouse and steered the cursor to the icon that would launch Neverwinter Nights 2. While the game was loading in, the man that sat at his computer desk whispered out .."Another year that I miss you."..while the game was still loading, he tabbed out to the BGTSCC forum and clicked on the last page of the Broken Goblet thread. With a smile he then said "Let's do something different."

If anyone was ever grieving about the lost of a loved one, and asked the bartender of the Broken Goblet why does such pain hurt so much? He would tell you...
"The sorrow we feel when we lose a loved one is the price we pay to have had them in our lives. And it ain't always that yer can pick and choose who yer allow in yer life. Try tellin yer mum yer ain't want her in yer life and she gon slap the snot out yer twinklin nose."

Our World

In a region with small towns to grand cities, where experience hands can craft the most difficult of elegance or the most complicated stone work. Where men and women of all races seek adventure, wealth and even power. Within the greater Western Heartlands, was city called Baldur's Gate. It was a crowded city of commerce and opportunity, perhaps the most prosperous and influential merchant city on the western coast of Faerun.

Image
Image

Baldur's Gate was located to the south of the great city-state of Waterdeep, north of Amn along the well-traveled Coast Way road, that passed over the Wyrm's Crossing, through the Outer City and into the Gate proper. It was nestled on a stretch of poor soil, within a natural bay that formed on the north bank of the River Chionthar about 40 miles east from its mouth on the Sea of Swords.

Image
Image

This region connected to many other prosperous towns, villages, and other places some would call home. Settlements filled with farmers, towns filled with Halflings and elves, dwarven kingdoms, and pirate villages and even tribes. Even the depths below held a vast city within the ground that was known as the Underdark. Where the darkest of things lurked within.

Image

Recovering from what is known as the Time of Troubles, the people within these lands had started to continue the lives they once knew. However not all of them will experience such. For some there had been changes, changes that are far more permanent. The resolve for most have proven fickle and brittle. Only a few continued to remain head strong even when they had felt their Gods had abandon them. Many people had even died, some died Godless, others died crying for their gods, yet silence was the response.

Image

More and more had to rely on mundane means. Some even now continue such practice. The talks of men varies. Some had liked when the world had seem to gone to shite. They felt it humbled most. Others are joyful that it was over. More and more mages came out of hiding, some returned from far away lands. Some clerics faiths has grown stronger. Others..had left such occupation. Yet now, the ones sitting on thrones continue to get fat in their comforts.

Image

Minds cant help wonder what's the next chaos to come? The next calamity? The next threat? Will it be amongst each other from bickering over crumbs? Or will something else more sinister arise to threaten everyone and will it be a threat strong enough to make everyone band together?

Image

Of course not. People this side of the Coast care more for fame and personal glory, than to be wise enough to band with each other. This was the region where Evil lurks from every shadow and dwells within many hearts. Where the good are not always good. Where many carries some form of sin within them. Only the stuff of codes and creeds, brotherhood and fear direct most lives. A place where pride births the most stubborn of people. Where greed is the biggest of temptations and downfall. This was the Sword Coast. Where the good seems to be the bad, and the bad seems to be the good mostly.

Image
Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet would tell you...

Image
Image

"When the world aint gone to shite, buggers ain't know what to be doing. Me...I still doing what I been doing, nothing's changed."

Persistence

Diligence, devotion, perseverance, dedication, stubbornness, few of the many words to describe persistence. When a person is that devoted to their cause, whatever their cause,..they will stop at nothing!

Image

Even I have taught that very thing to many others...
"Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying."

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On!' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. For we are a race with a life span set in stone that does not even comes close to putting up a race against the sands of time."

Image

When persistence of a woman with the hot blood of desire coursing though her veins..breaks the limitation of paitence..

Image

When persistence of the faithful refuses to lose hope even if their gods had been silent to them...

The bartender of the Goblet would tell you, in regards to persistence..

“Persistence. Perfection. Patience. Power. Prioritize your passion. It keeps you sane.”

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Gossips and Rumors

In medieval times, most news and events were simply announced by town criers and or posted on bulletin boards. Other means were by word of mouth. Local taverns and pubs were essential to pass gossips and rumors around to travelers. But what it gossips and rumors didn't get brought in. What if taverns and pubs where more silent of such things like a good tale or interesting news? The answer is...you go out and find them.

"They been showing a strong interest in having me around."

"Perhaps they finally heard or see how diligent of a worker you are. So how do you feel about them?'

"I dont know, If I feel anything I will let you know."

Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet would take his moments to walk the roads, taking even the longest of paths. For he always said.."You never know just what you might run into." Often the case small towns and villages were quiet, no events, no intrigue, no mishaps. Most the population would enjoy the soundless peace and tranquility. But what if, its just that they do not see what lurks within alleys, cracks, or darkness.

"It's been quiet on my end of things. Other than the unsolved murders in the Gates. Nearly witness one myself."

"Is anyone looking into the matter?"

"That would mean the Fists are actually doing some work"

"Couldn't chase down the stabber, was trying to tend to the old man that was bleedin out."

((DM Inks Event))

------------------------------------------------

Places like Candlekeep where scribes and scholars are hard at work making libraries of records of the worlds events. But who feeds them the knowledge? Who tells them the tales? Many men and woman work endlessly to keep tracking of our history. For one day, the knowledge will be useful even in generations to come.

"Sorry didn't mean to disturb you, thought you were someone else"

"Tis fine, I was merely checking the board if anyone followed up with the trouble in the Neshkel mines."

"Oh what sort of trouble?"

"There was a Ooze but unlike anything I've seen before. No matter what a person did, it simply wasnt being harmed."

Image

((DM Midnights Event))

------------------------------------------------

Sometimes, simply sitting around with another person and engaging in conversations can lead to a productive rumor or gossip. Alot of times their not productive at all. It depends on the individual if such talks are interesting or naught. Some may find the most common uninteresting word useful. Others may find something very important with so little.

When an entire cargo ship goes missing, even I fail to see how that is not news of interest. Somewhere theres a stolen ship out there. How does one hide such a thing. I myself have asked people who I felt might be knowledgeable with such a thing.

"How does a whole bleedin cargo ship simply go missin?"

"You aint know bartender? I'll learn you something. Yer sink it"

Image

((DM Sparty Event))

------------------------------------------------

Strange, it nearly seems as if when the world has finally been fixed with the whole God mess, people stop trying to be hero's. I could say that is smart. But I don't like not hearing of news. Guess I might as well create some bit of fun.

A flyer was nailed on the bulletin board infront of the Swordarms Inn. Copies where soon made and efforts will go around various of towns or cities to be posted as well.

the sky sways as you pull me in.
and I...I wanna swim in your ocean,
I...wanna know how to love again."

Some say insanity is repeating the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. Yet many of us even when knowing the results wont change, blindly cling onto hopes or wishes keep on trying. People are funny in this sense. Or are they really? Perhaps with each attempt, they saw something different, something others can not see. Or perhaps they simply indulge for the fun in the attempt.

"What are we.?"

"What is it ye want us ta be?"

"Yer answering a question with a question."

"Funs good..... and aye.... don't like messes in my head... well thas not true... I don't like bein hurt by people...."

".... theres reasons in place as to I shouldnt have indulged this much with you. But the fact is...I have."

"Though I should point out.. last three times I come in here I ain't done nothin but sniff my rum and ye ain't even notice or say anythin......"

"I thought its a habit of yours. Sniffin the rum. "

"Drinkin is."

"Are you sayin...something be different with you?"

"And If there is?"

"If you think me runnin ..I aint."

If anyone asked the bartender of the Broken Goblet, what he thought about his patrons, he would say..

"Every body no matter who or what they are, is like a big ol onion. Just when you think you know what they about, yer peel away at the surface only to see another later beneath. Before you know it, yer lost track just how many times yer had to peel the bloody bastard. Guess the only thing you can do , is take a bite at it and hope they taste good. Just gotta be careful. Sometimes biting into an onion can make you cry."

Behind Walls
Finally, some rumors. Bartenders like a bit of rumors. Always gives patrons something to gossip about and spread around enticing others to return or frequent the bar, to get more rumors. After a short trip in the Gate today, the bartender had heard some talks on the streets. Like the rushing of Fist soldiers heading to the prison. Interesting news for it seems the inmates decided to have a bit of fun. But it wasn't until the bartender returned to the Shore , that he heard details, of what had transpired. The sailor was laughing for he had also heard that one member of the Fist had died. Now ain't that just embracing. A Fist to die in their own prison.

Image

Thoughts of the rumors took his mind back nearly 13 years ago. He wouldn't hadn't even been a full year in Baldur's, that he had some dilemma with someone he knew that was imprisoned. He had visited this friend of his. He even helped his friend out,
in his own way...

Image

1345 DR Baldur's Gate
*Those that ventured by the Flaming Fist Headquarters last would have witnessed a chaotic scene. Soldiers and guardsmen rushed about, searching the Headquarters and the nearby city streets with great urgency, harshly questioning all that were out and about at such a late hour… Anyone who is stopped by the frantic patrols would have been questioned about the whereabouts of a man known as Bael, and an elven wizard known as Aurican… and if they had recently seen anyone not in Fist uniform leaving the Headquarters…

The search continues long into the night, and the streets are patrolled by several groups of soldier until the sun rises...

As morning comes, members of the Fist are informed that the prisoner known as Bael has escaped from his cell, and is now loose about the city. Members of the Fist (or anyone else) that visit the scene of the escape in the jail witness the doors of two prison cells shattered and half-melted, as if a great fiery force had been flung against them… the prison guards suspect that the two prisoners, Bael and Aurican, most likely had outside help in escaping…*
If anyone ever asked the bartender of the Broken Goblet, just how to set someone free from the Fist's prison. He would tell you....

"Easy, first yer need to be very very quick, and very very clever. If yer want to get a friend out of the Fists' prisons..yer simply blow the bloody walls!"

(( OOC Reminders ))
Hi !
Sel here, just wanted to make a reminder and post a few FAQ for those new players or returning ones that are do not know about the Broken Goblet.

1. Where can you find the Broken Goblet Tavern?
A. In Roaringshore. You can reach Roaringshore by speaking to the boatman in Wyvern Crossing, near the Bright just outside the Outer Farmlands of Baldurs. Or you can talk to the boatman in the Docks within the Harbor District within Baldurs Gate. Or you can travel by Wagon form Soubar, or you can travel by foot from the Fields of Dead.

2. What sort of tavern is the Broken Goblet?
A. Its a Seedy like Tavern within a Pirate Village. It's more of a Neutral Evil aligned setting. ((Think Tortuga In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean)) Roaringshore is a Lawless land that is run by the High Captains. Think Luskan if you are familiar with Neverwinter One game and other Forgotten realms novels. Thus the nickname "Little Luskan". And no my character does not own the Broken Goblet, its a Server owned establishment. My character is simply the hired bartender.

3. What sort of Class is allowed in the Broken Goblet?
A. The Broken Goblet welcomes any and all patrons as per the Owner of the Tavern. However, Goodie aligned characters would and should feel uncomfortable. Creative RP is the only other option. I wont spell that out for you it be a spoiler.

4. What are the rules in the tavern?
A. There are strict rules, what few they are. One- No Breaking Furniture, Two No Fighting in the Drinking area, fights are to be taken down in the fighting pit or outside the tavern, Three no touching of the Barmaids. These rules are implemented by the NPC Owner of the Goblet who is in fact played by the DM Team, so please OOC respect it. I do have the authority to Rp the Guards would throw your character out of the tavern if they break any of the rules. The Broken Goblet even has a hired Player Bouncer/Bruiser that would Rp throwing your pc out as well if they are present. Any refusal to being thrown out by the Guards is considered Godmod which is against the server rules. I am instructed to report such violations to the DM team if it happens.

5. RP Setting?
A. With number 4 being said..This is the Broken Goblet, Characters that frequent it are Pirates, Mercs, Thieves, Smugglers, Run away's and stow'aways, contract killers and even Murderers and even drows at times. A lot of posing goes on in here. Hard looks, glares, hard jokes, mean mugging and thugging and some other mischievous round about pranksters. So be mindful of your RP. Your PC could find themselves in a heated argument or even in physical conflict. Or even death. With the most recent DM ruling it was made known ..if outsiders come into the Goblet thinking to insult Pirate crews, the crews are likely to stab your pc and the Guards would not stop them. But also, if anyone thinks to come into the Goblet and harass the employees they might find themselves banished from Roaringshore if not worse. I have put in a great deal of time, energy and rp into Roaringshore / the Broken Goblet, and I have worked with staff and Dms to help make the place with what it is of current without a having a big chaotic mess. At the end of the day, the ultimate objective is to have fun. My personal objective is to provide Rp.

6. Pros and Cons of the Broken Goblet?
A. The Pros are, your more than likely able to find Rp most days, specially weekends. Its a good centralize area to get IC rumors and a neutral place where team good could meet with team bad and drink together and parley for whatever reason. When I have a one to one session with a player, I like posting about them. It serves three purposes. One- it gives me something fun to do, Two-It helps me show the DM team my activity, three- It even helps DMs get some insight as to what some of these characters are doing and it helps move some of the Dm's events forward. Also its nearly an "Anything Goes" sort of tavern. However I must stress a reminder of the server rules.
The Cons- its not an easy place for team good guys, and I play on Aussie/Oceanic time zone, so my bartender presence is during the times most of the population is sleeping. Unless its on the weekends where I get Sundays and Mondays off from RL work and tend to stay up late or get up early. So if you really want to catch rp with my bartender during the weekdays..stay up late or wake up super early!

So let me end this with the words of a known NPC Captain Pike himself! -

"What's a Goblet"
This isolated village nestles in a small deep water cove on the coast about a third of the way south from the mouth of the Winding Water toward the city of Baldur's Gate. lawless Roaringshore has spread far up and down the length of the Sword Coast.

Image

Though such tales have grown in the telling, this is still a place raided at least once a summer by mercenary armies of 70 or more lancers or horse archers, hired by Amn and Baldurs Gate. As a result, prominent folk and businesses here tend to be literally short-lived. Even so, two establishments of note have lasted long enough to garner well-deserved reputations: the Swordarm and the Broken Goblet.

Image

When pirates and lawless folk come to brawl and carouse, their first thought is to roll into the Goblet - swords drawn, and swagger as they promenade along the raised entry dais and down toward the bar. It's the place to be seen - and the place to be killed in, if the body count of the last few years is any indication. And one of the well known bartenders in the Broken Goblet is a man named Sel.

Image
Image

The bartender is known to be engaging, yet mysterious. Some will say, he's savvy few just cant figure him out. But one thing is for sure about him, is that when you entered the Broken Goblet and ask the right questions, you may just get the right answers... IF he has the answers or IF you've motivated him enough to tell you. It is a tavern frequented by carousing sea loving pirates! Or shady land lovers! Or Free men and woman who simply want to take a load off and have a good drink and a good time. On the right day patrons would even find themselves being entertained by a lovely minstrel, performing music of legendary tales or simple shanty's!. With door guards leathered faced and equip with crude blades, and regular patrons large and towering with a lot of muscle, the Goblet has been known to be filled with the most sternest of patrons like the darkest of ale!

Image

Some people will say, the Shore' can be it's own place of beauty given the proper view no matter how shabby the place seems to be. But even for outsiders that don't care for the Shore, they still tend to visit the Broken Goblet. Sometimes subtle, other times hidden but regardless they come for one of the better reasons, to hear the latest of word. Word from the roads, word from other patrons, or simply words he obtained himself. Such as the talks of a robed man that's going around in the Gates Wide and preaching the name of the Black Sun.

"How is it, you turned this place to one of the most attracting spots?"

"Yer over lookin into it mate', I ain't no God nor a powerful magician. I'm simply a bartender' and me name is Sel."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

((Rumors For New Players or the Ones not Knowing to the BGTSCC Server))

"Hail yer bloody cur's! Are ye havin problems findin' a good ol rumor? Or ain't findin ye'self gettin involved in DM even'ts or even the Player one's? Well let the bartender give ye a bit of tips and advice and read below!"

BGTSCC uses the forums alot, its a good way to stay in the know of things far as current lore, events, plots and so on. It helps players in the game with their Role playing as well as picking up or moving forward with events and plots. DM's as well as Players tend to put up "Rumors" . You as a player are allowed to read those "rumors" and use them for In game knowledge, rumors are the gossips spread from the lips of travelers, adventurers and what ever else that makes sense mind you.

Example: "A local merchant in the market square was talking about that fella that was going around preaching the Dark Sun a couple of days ago."

Now to get involved in such events or plots, simply look to see at the author of the post and send them an PM on the forums. Make the format of the pm one of two ways, a OOC inquiry or an RP one.

Example: "A graceful woman with seashells for earrings and red curly hair had came around the market square asking the merchants about the man that was preaching the Dark Sun and what he looked like or did he happen to mention a name?"

As simple as that, would or could get your character involved. Mind you, there could be other players that beat you to it or late replies might not be so late at all. All depends on whos pushing the event. Also be very mindful as to what are rumors and what are not. Meta is a thing that ruins the game as well as players gameplay, the server considered metagaming against the server rules, some players consider it a crime not tolerated. If there's no way your player can know, they they dont know. Keep it simple and wholesome , "Fer we all will have less bloody head aches."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."
