Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
This sounds very nice!
IF you are interested in associating Chauntea in your characters background or RP then lets talk!
Characters:
Kervel Greencrest - Old Farmer and Priest of Chauntea (Biography)
Renvar Meldrake - Cormyrean Sellsword and Bounty Hunter (Biography)

I'm excited about this change. And I'm not even likely to use it much, lol. I'm excited for others, because I know they've wanted something like this.

And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die."

Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
This is awesome!
Will we be able to keep and train multiple falcons, and will it be possible to give a higher level falcon to another player if we want to roleplay someone who trains them professionally for money or for their boss?
This is super exciting!

Yep, thats the plan! The leveling will be independent of the player, and should persist just fine through trades. I haven't tested that fully yet, however. So while I am hopeful and even optimistic.. we shall see how that plays once its on the server.
I am hoping training and associated sales is definitely a part of this!

Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
Once this system framework is in place, it could be easily tweaked to allow hound hunting as well (especially for hunter-rangers with a wolf or dog animal companion).

Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
We discussed that. There aren't many hunt-kill-retrieve type hunts with dogs (especially lone dogs) that I am aware of.. most either pester/corner/tree, track, or retrieve. If you have info on something let me know!

Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
In the real world, for sure, you're right. Hunting dogs aren't trained to go out and hunt, and bring game back. But in a fantasy world where rangers/druids can talk to their animal companions, it might be different.Planehopper wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:29 pmWe discussed that. I'm excited about the falconry, and don't expect "companion hunting". But just wanted to throw in my two cents here on the topic. You're doing a great job, Planehopper!

Joseph Carter the Mink Man from Utah is a good example, mostly small game (musk rats) with his minks and vermin or beavers with his dogs. Note that larger vermin can have valuable pelts.

Re: Coming Soon: Falconry
Vermin is such a silly classification, as its just a descriptor of an animal being a plague or pest no?
But the larger rodents are certainly valueable for their pelts as Tsid says, beavers, minks & weasels are all pretty sought after pelts. But even something like a fox is not something you set your hounds after usually, this is the upper class hunting grounds usually, like the annual Hubertus Hunt here in Copenhagen.
I can only think of "sighthounds" that are used to actively hunt and kill, rather than hunt and retrieve. Dogs are used mostly for their scent as hunting companions, historically. Fantasy just likes to do a Ramsay Bolton every now and again.

Re: New DM Request Form
Definitely smooths out the contact prioritizingRhifox wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 7:45 am Hello! As you've likely noticed by now, we have a new button at the top left of the forum. This button takes users to a new form where you can fill out details for DM requests. Once submitted, these requests are posted directly to the DM player requests forum for discussion.
Depending on the form, some fields are mandatory, and when you click "send" a gray text up top currently now indicates "you forgot to provide some fields" or similar, but in heat of the moment a player COULD overlook this message, thinking the form WAS sent.
Then 7 days later they do another form again, retyping it as best they can remember, or send it by an oldschool PM to DM Team, who then reply "we haven't seen any form". If the sender gets a PM copy of the form to their inbox it's easy for them to see it got sent succesfully, and what they wrote inside it.

Unlocking soooo mannnnyyyyy buuuiiiiillllddddssssss………DaloLorn wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 12:45 pm This change has been brought up many times, both in and outside staff channels, and after extensive deliberation, BG will be abolishing its historical 3b20 multiclassing restriction in an incoming patch. In its place, we are introducing a 3b30 (3+ levels in each class at level 30) restriction. All PCs will be required to maintain 3b30 eligibility at all times, and will be barred from exiting the Nexus until they become eligible again.

Re: Coming Soon: Revised Multiclassing Rules
Would it be prudent to notify the player of their last chance to not break the rule? I mean the 1 level before level up? So they find out they miscalculated?
