After her morning prayers, a Sunite is seen walking the streets of Baldur's Gate. At times, she is seen holding the hands of the locals and leading prayer to those who wished for it. Other times, she is seen speaking to them and asking if they have any information on the werewolf attacks. She asks for any witnesses who may have seen the werewolf's movement among the city, where it may have came from, where it may have left... The subject is a delicate one though, and Nadine takes the time to comfort and console those who may have been affected by the news or the memory of it. Seeing the fear these creatures have brought to Baldur's Gate only makes Nadine more determined to find answers.

Preparations

In the last few months, whispers around the ducal palace have had local traders and nobles alike discussing the rumors surrounding the Common's Courtesy. Upon Hammer 29th 1359, the rumors were confirmed. The stipend is set to end upon a year of it's competition. A hearing to decide the fate of the stipend will be hosted in the ducal palace in two months. The cost and value of the Common's Courtesy will be discussed, and a decision will be made by the council of four in the month proceeding.

In light of the upcoming debate on the fate of the Commons' Courtesy, Osric takes the time to visit each district of the city to speak with locals, prominent leaders, and merchants to get their take on the controversial proposition. The months-long effort is added to his routine of patronizing those local shops who had honored their word with him not to raise prices, if there been any willing to agree to such terms.
  • In the Eastway District, he visits Aello's Clothing, Zachary's barbershop, and the elven settlement.
  • In Heapside, he visits the orphanage, and spends several hours speaking to any local who is willing to speak with him.
  • In the Steeps, he speaks with the local dockworkers, warehouse workers, the Counting House, and the halfling settlement.
  • In the Seatower, he visits the dwarven settlement and the Flaming Fist headquarters to ask on security concerns related to the distribution of the stipend.
  • In the Wide, he makes a point of stopping at all the local merchant stalls and stands. He visits the Temple of Waukeen to get their opinion, offering a substantial tithe along the way.
  • In the Temples District, he visits Quincy to get his take. He also visits the City Watch on security concerns. He also visits the patriar estates that are willing to entertain him, bringing gifts of wine and silver.
  • In the Manorborn District, he visits Houses Caldwell and Sashenstar.

Recently Shrine of Chauntea by Wyrm's Crossing has been carefully cleaned of snow and tended as it has been throughout autum and winter thus far. However the shrines caretaker has been more absent over the last days. Kervel seems to tidy up the site usually early in the morning before heading to city itself. He leaves a notice that he can be found in the The Wide, replacing it while he visit if it is blow or taken away. There he has been setting up what seems to be a tent in the market. He spends a good deal of time there, accompanied by a older dog. The priest offers free medical care to those in need, both man and animal alike, by means of prayer and more traditinal manner. He encourages all, particulary those that cannot help themselves, to come and accept his aid. He happlily offers advice or any other help to those that make a living off the land to the best of his abilities, should any come by his humble setup.

As a new morning rose over the city, during the quiet of the early hours, an large, armoured figure slumped his way towards the Shrine of Ilmater. Trails of blood followed him, leaking out of the gaping holes left in his armour, splattering on the cobbled streets. As he stumbled into the Shrine, he stumbled and collapsed onto the wooden floor, much to the surprise of the carers there. Weakly, he managed to crawl further in, rolling onto his back and removing his helmet. The bloodied face of the half orc was met with horror and concern, as the half orcs green skin was stained with blood, most of which originated from what used to be his left eye.

Being notified by the footman of the Vale Estate about Grobb, Nadine runs to the Shrine of Suffering. She can be heard uttering prayers on her way there.

A relative quiet of the evening in The Wide was broken as a loud sound of shattering glass echoed loudly from a spot that a older Chauntean priest had occupied over the last week or so with his dog, supplies and tent. Apparently a beautiful and large stained glass window, painted and crafted in the image of The Great Mother herself, tipped over on the priest tent and other belogings. This left the helpless spectators stunned and speechless and two men repsonsible for lifting the window took off wobbling into the night. What remains of the window were gathered by the group and guards of House Vale came to collect them by order of their Lord. They left the scene with the shards and were accompanied by a upset priest on their way towards the Manoborn district.

Word gets out that the sassy wych of Rashemaar is looking for a Star Ruby, a rare gem associated with healing, transformation and life itself. Used in potions of Healing, they are also common in transformative rituals of various kinds. The wych is said to be willing to pay heftily for it or even for solid leads on where one might get one.

A woman many unfortunately know as Solaris Cult is said to be informing anyone willing to listen about her alleged impending nuptials to one Nathan Goldenmane. Many would guffaw in disbelief; some would just politely nod their head to the delusional woman; a few would happily abet her delusion.

A member of the House Vale guard delivers a stack of books to the Biblioteca. They are addressed to one Miss River Steel, and are wrapped and sealed in the House's tri-falcon heraldry.

Over the past month supplies and equipment, as well as furniture and tools have been shuffled both in, and out of the Thayan Enclave in Baldurs Gate.

A fully covered coach was said to have arrived some time ago, an individual that seemed to be revered in some manner by the retinue around them. dressed completely in red entered the Enclave, in tow with a number of apprentices and a Circle Leader. The person was bound fully from head to toe, so faces and identity was unable to be confirmed. Word around the common folk is a new Khazark has arrived, with retinue, to take over the business goings on of the local Thayan Enclave.

These rumours appear to ring true, as activity and trade around the building has certainly seen a stark increase.

DaloLorn wrote: Tue Jan 10, 2023 10:17 am Over the past tendays, a redheaded girl once seen loitering around the crossroads in the Outer City seems to have moved inward, to the rooftops and walkways above the streets of Baldur's Gate. Though on clearer days she might be seen wandering around or sitting around busier or more scenic positions, the frequent snowfalls tend to drive her to take partial shelter under one specific rooftop in the Steeps. Either way, if she's not on her feet, she tends to dangle them, bored but otherwise seemingly carefree, off the edge of whatever perch she's found for herself. As for her attention, it seems to wander at random between the sky above and the bustle of the city below.

Occasionally, though, she does descend into the streets below for more than just food, drink, and sleep. Her movements at such times are hard to keep up with - both because of their habitual verticality and because of her skill at blending in when she wants to - but they seem loosely confined to the seedier districts of the Lower City, for reasons not yet known...
As the days go by, the redhead's trips onto the streets of the Lower City become increasingly infrequent and half-hearted, as though she is growing convinced that they will get her nowhere. Her behavior otherwise remains largely unchanged... until one night, she is visited by a dark-haired tiefling of a similar build to her own. It isn't the first time the tiefling has visited her in the rooftops, but this time, she leads her through the Wide and out of the city, heading directly north.

When she returns to the Gate, however, her behavior transforms drastically. She no longer seems to leave her traditional perch in the Steeps for much besides visiting the nearest toilet: She sleeps under the rooftop, she eats and drinks from a set of magical utensils, and instead of sitting on the edge and dangling her feet in the air, she spends most of her time sitting against the wall behind her, using her knees as a pillow. Perhaps strangest of all, though, is the fact that instead of climbing up and down along whichever route feels most convenient at any given time, she has started to acknowledge the existence of stairs.

Whatever happened in the north, it must have shaken her deeply...
DM Spartacus wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:56 am Rumour has it yet another city robbery occurred in the city famed for it's law and order, well apart form the occasional devil and dragon incursion. The house of a ship foreman Frand Fellman, well known in the docks as a dedicated worker was broken into. It appears Frand returned and disturbed the thief or thieves and he was found dead. It seems uncertain quite how he died but dead he was. The honest ship makers Guild has demanded action. The response from the Dukes office to a growing number of crimes was a crackdown was on it's way. Let no one be in doubt it is the Dukes run this city.
Around the same time, the young redhead vanishes from her rooftop perch in the Steeps. Whether this is an unfortunately-timed coincidence or a deliberate effort by one of the culprits trying to lay low remains to be seen, but she does not soon return, having found a different place to spend her days.
