I have recently returned to Baldur's Gate after taking a break from it a few months ago, I have had nothing but good if not great interactions with everyone. However I have recently ran into an issue with the way that the forums are run, I am not going to lie it has kind of killed my interest in returning now. I am not normally very interested with using forums and the like, I tend to only use them to report any issue I have, and to see announcements and the like.
However earlier today I ran into a technical issue that I believe require some DM help but due to the restriction of the forums there is no way for me to convey this to a DM. The DM Request button does not work, due to me not being authorized. Private messaging also does not work due to the same reason. The only thing that really partially explains my issue is in the FAQ about Private Messaging. I have heard from friends that there is a 3 post probationary period. However the Forum Rules do not say anything about this, and as far as I can tell I haven't found mention of this anywhere else on the Forums.
I understand the reason for this probationary period to deter bots and spammers, but due to the lack of clarity on this it is quite the hinderance to new players and players who might not use the forums when they have valid problems. I hope my experience will aid others and hopefully the 3 post probationary period gets added to the Forum Rules so that others don't run into this issue in the future.

Re: Issues with the Forums
You should be able to send PMs now.
The reason it is like this, is because we have had some now banned people make new accounts to harass players and staff in PMs. With access to so many kinds of VPNs, there's no real way to properly ban someone from making new accounts. It's a sad state of affairs that we have to put in restrictions like this, but it is what it is.
