Exp ruining rp save us!
I’m sure this might not be a likely change but I wanna suggest it anyway!=^^=
1-
I ((and others)) hate it when we have to get into Ooc talks about to many players in party and lowering exp?! How do I rp a reason to leave? “ I’m leaving cause another person is just to much safety!” ((Of course we can always find a out but now I had to leave for something that doesn’t exist.
2-
I hate the exp penalty for lvl difference as well as it prevents rp and support such as some healing! I don’t expect to get good exp myself as exp based on CR should still affect the high lvl. If anything this will encourage training rp! It sucks when exp prevents me from rp helping cause I’m outside the party.
-A downside that I rather don’t mind is people that like to might use this to rush low lvls to high lvls but why should I care it’s their journey. I enjoy the low lvls!=^^=
-I’m not worried about the exp myself as I talk so much I lvl up fast anyway!=^^=

I do not usually complain about mechanics (because I prefer to use my energy complaining about everything else!
). This will be an little exception, as I thought I would share my experience leveling my orc.
I am level 23 with no level adjustments or experience penalties. I was in two separate groups this weekend, with other players grinding Gray Peaks and Cloud Peaks. I was getting an average of 2 exp per kill with both groups. The group was no larger than 6 players. My orc held up his own and was not carried by the higher level players.
After the fire giants and frost giants groups I went on my own and hunted Yeti for a about two hours raking in 25 exp a kill. ZZZzzzzzzzz.....
I also recently left a group recently because I assume the group got too big and I was suddenly not getting any exp. One extra player too many (7 players instead of 6 I think) and exp gets diminished way too much. I see no rational reason for this.
I contribute my fair share to the group and I believe I am due more experience than what I received. It makes it so that the game is encouraging that I solo grind over group RP in these situations.
I'd like to add a point 3-
Unique to surface orcs, I want to say I have been greatly enjoying playing my surface orc, but see it as unfair that my experience should be penalized compared with other players. I understand I lose out on certain RP opportunities playing an orc. I understand that I am hated and shunned. But this should not mean that I get an experience penalty, simply because I am mechanically being blocked from certain hubs. It irritates me that UD orcs have full access weekly quest experience on their end....only serving to discourage surface orc players.
It might be a minor issue, niche to a tiny portion of the server. But I think my orc brings flavor and an bit of excitement. I should be rewarded for my efforts not punished. Surface orcs deserve something to replace the penalty in quest experience they receive over other players and even other orcs. I am going to keep trying to level him up, but again, Not fair.
**EDIT a Couple hours later** I ran gray peaks with a couple mid to high level 20's and was getting around 25-29 exp a pop. Much better. But I would still say that the level gap between players should be 8-10 levels not 6. And I would not have penalties for max group size at all.

Yes but then If I stay to rest and they go fight alone cause I’d eat their exp that’s less rp=^^=

Back when I was playing still, the downside of the of the xp system based on level and or numbers of the party was the fact there's not enough players online at time [X] to fill a void when you don't have the gear or your build is slightly un-optimal until a later point. So you embrace the suck as a solo person, since you get pushed to the side at times with leveling groups, since you are the odd one out given the spread.
And the value of the system itself and what xp you get out of scenario [Y] with [Z] players is entirely based upon the user, so outcomes and overall results vary situation to situation.
It's more of a hinderance with the current times depending on a few factors.

After years of trying to give others a chance to prove to me they can shape up here, I have run out of patience. The numbers of nwn2 overall dropping in the past few years have told me the path others truly want to take. Actions speak louder than words.

This may be a dumb suggestion but, why don't we just make all areas give the same exp serverwide?
If this is primarily an RP server then we should just make all mobs worth the same exp (after increasing the exp value per kill so we don't spend months leveling).
Idk it just seems like a waste to have limits on anything nowadays.
Open the gates. Make people happy.
Rather than spending 30hours grinding exp with people you'd never IC party with, let guilds do expeditions with guildies and/or new players to give them solid exp gain and great RP experience.
I'm probably too old to have an opinion on this but it just seems like the exp gain system in this game is unrewarding.

You claim to be focused on role-play, yet the post is about mechanical XP gained from PvE. Tsk, tsk.
I'm wholeheartedly for removing silly barriers like those. If level 30 wants to help level 1 level up, so be it. If people want to group in small armies to take down the content, so be it.

I'm not against relaxing the barrier. I do caution about removing it entirely, though. On one server, I was able to power level people to level 30 in a matter of about three hours. I don't think that should happen.
I do like the suggestion of having areas grant a flat amount of XP, but also see some issues with it, such as it would likely make it harder to level up in lower levels (because we'd need to make sure that level 25s didn't just grind the graveyard for hours to level up). Perhaps it could be implemented to where that area grants a flat xp, up to a certain level, and that flat xp isn't ruined by higher levels?
Or, at the very least, make it where if a lower level is with a higher level in a higher level area, they are getting xp conducive to their level, rather than the higher level killing their xp.

Here's a thought: Remove all barriers related to xp granted in multi-level parties BUT impose a per-level cap on xp per day.
I used to play on an NWN1 server that had a per day xp cap based on the level of the character and it made character advancement more measured. I liked it. I have no idea what, exactly, the cap was because they had a script that hid the amount of xp you had and the amount you received, so you never really had any idea who close you were to leveling up.

My issue with this is it becomes very MMO-like, and "gated". Why would you not want people to get to level 30 easily? Let's face it, most players will not role-play much before they reach their desired level. Usually 30.

That being said, the real "danger" would be to see level 20+ characters going in level 5 areas to grind, and tell level 5s to leave because he has to power-level (EG: kobold ruins).
I don't think however it's going to happen these days, since I've seen the community to change and for the better (luckily), but in the past it may have been an issue.
"Dailies" missions already exist. I'm referring to the quests of "collecting Wheat and Apples" in Beregost and Nashkel/Baldur's Gate.I don't want to encourage the addition of dailies, which is basically what we'd be adding.
I think the ideal would be to remove, yes, the XP-gain from monsters if you are in a group with someone much higher than yours, but the XP you gain should stay within those 7 levels.
I'll explain a little better: If I'm level 10 and I group up with two level 30s, it's great! You can do it!
But if you go in level 25+ areas, you won't get any XP. Instead, if you go and kill monsters in level 10-17 areas (within the 7 levels range from your actual level), you will get the rewarded XP.
Group levels I believe shouldn't matter, while areas still should - so to avoid the power-grinding and all.
Feel free to ask me to elaborate if I'm not clear enough.
