The Elfsong Tavern

Description:
The Elfsong Tavern located in the Eastway in Baldur's Gate, was a two-story Inn. The ground floor was the taproom featuring the bar and a large number of tables curtained-off into booths by various tapestries. One of the more notable decorations was a stuffed baby beholder, which a patron named Ethon had found in the cellar. The only lighting was provided by the many blue drift globes that floated about near the ceiling. The furniture was stout wood marked by any number of nicks and slashes from swords and knives. Individual tables were cordoned off with hanging tapestries that provided visual (but not vocal) privacy. The upper floor was filled with private meeting rooms, which could be rented either by the candle—the time it took a short taper to burn down—or by the evening.

Lore:
The name derived from an unusual haunting: a ghostly female elven voice heard periodically throughout the establishment. The singing was quiet, but could be heard quite clearly. It was most often described as both beautiful and mournful. The identity of the singer was unknown, but it was clear that her song was a lament for a lover lost at sea. No other music was permitted inside the Elfsong.

The establishment served virtually every kind of alcohol known. It was also known for its melted cheese sandwiches (spicing optional), pickles, crab cakes, fishcakes, loaf puddings, cheese-potato soup, and fist-sized twists of dried herring. All food was heavily salted to make patrons drink more. The tavern was also famed for a thick stew beloved by many sick or cold sailors. This stew consisted of all leavings from the rest of the cooking, soured ale, wine dregs, etc. It was thrown into a huge cauldron that was constantly kept at a simmer. A number of folk in Baldur's Gate were quite fond of the stew, and some very reputable folk would come to the Elfsong for the sole purpose of eating it.

A half-elf woman known as "Lady" Alyth Elendara purchased the tavern for 50,000 gp from an elderly warrior who placed a single condition on the sale: that he be allowed to sit in the tavern at all hours in order to hear the song as often as he desired. Elendara was also known to operate an unofficial bank, mostly used by those with large amounts of coin and no good reason to possess it. There was much speculation as to where she stored this money and how it was guarded, but only she knew for sure.

The Elfsong catered to persons on the wrong side of the law, but it was more popular with adventurers and independent operators than with the established organizations of the underworld, who tended to frequent the Blushing Mermaid. The city watch had an arrangement with the management and could be expected to maintain a comfortable distance unless a full-scale war erupted inside.

Image

People came to the Elfsong to do business of all sorts, most of it illicit. Fences, smugglers, assassins-for-hire, and many adventurers with hard-earned coin and tall tales to tell would drink at the establishment. Pirates and miscellaneous outlaws from up and down the Sword Coast were often found within as well. Patrons were expected to go armed and were completely responsible for their own safety. Murders were not unheard of, especially upon the dim and winding staircases.

Our Hopes:
We hope and encourage players, to enjoy the use of this Iconic Tavern that had been established and used over the many years on our Server.
The alterations of this tavern was done few weeks back, but there were some bugs that needed fixing and now we have it to a working order.
For players and DM's that do have reasons or an interest to carry some of their Rp/Plots in this tavern please by a means feel free to post your experience and ingame rumors below. Thanks for helping keeping RP alive, activity is always looked at, and greatly appreciated.

Rumors from the Elfsong

Image

In the Eastside of the city, a group of four would be seen entering the Elfsong Tavern after leaving the Blade's and Star's Inn. A familiar face of a man that bartends out of the Underceller would had been seen leading the group to the famous Elfsong. Cheers, laughs, and the sharing of stories and tells would have been heard from other local patrons. But regardless of the gathering, rumors were spread and share for the new faces. Talks of the Red Spice and how it was declared illegal, its effects, and the war waged by the city. Talks of Amn and its conflict between the Inquisition and the Mage rebel was also revealed. And even talks of the devil summoning cultist. If one thing can be truly said, the group had the oddest of mix of personalities , but over all, they appear to be a very tight close knit group.

Knocking Boots

“Statistically speaking,
there is a good chance that the love of your life,
is having an affair.
Be very suspicious.”

There's a saying that blushing is the most peculiar and most human of all expressions. But when a elf blushes what is one to make of it? I've once experienced seeing a peculiar elf give the most peculiar blush of them all in the Elfsong Tavern. I mean as a man from Roaringshore, I've seen many women blush even elves. I've even seen some with fluttering hearts! But why is this one in particular so different? It isn't because she's an Elf. It's not even because she was locked behind a private meeting room in the Elfsong Tavern with a large man and a scoundrel like myself with a renown reputation of being a sleezy scoundrel.

Image

The Elsong tavern was known to catered to persons on the wrong side of the law. We all know the reputation of the Elfsong. People came to the Elfsong to do business of all sorts, most of it illicit. Fences, smugglers, assassins-for-hire, and many adventurers with hard-earned coin and tall tales to tell would drink at the establishment. Pirates and miscellaneous outlaws from up and down the Sword Coast were often found within. So what made this particular elven woman different? Let me tell you. Her name was "Boots."

Image

It all happened when a man name Wulfrik and the Elven Captain of the Order of the Radian Hearts and a Councilor of Doron Amar known as Vanira who's often known as "Boots", wanted to speak to me in regards of a private matter. The lead me upstairs in one of the many private rooms. And I must say, things got quite intriguing, and a rather enjoyable ...meeting it was. However near the conclusion of our meeting, I found the situation quite entertaining when a knock came upon the door...

Aiden Vega: *Aiden knocks on the door with an iron glove*

Vanira: *The elf's ears twitch slightly and she tilts her head *

Sel: *He turned at the door*

Wulfrik: *He frowned and rose to his feet* "Who goes?"

Aiden Vega: "A man looking for a Captain in the Radiant Heart, if she is present, I wish to hear she is okay?"

Vanira: *Stutters* I am ... fine.

Wulfrik: *He peered at Vanira as he replied out loud* "Friend?"

Aiden Vega: "Concerned friend. The Elfsong has a reputation. She is fine is all that is needed to quell the mind."

Sel: *He grins and chin nods at the door*

Aiden Vega: "I'll leave you to your uh..." *He clears his throat* "Be safe Captain."

Wulfrik: *Cough!*

Sel: *He makes a hip thrusting gesture at Wulfrik and grins devilish at the sudden situation*

Wulfrik: "Quite s...ahem!"

Aiden Vega: "Ah yes, the bubbly pie boils loud I heard."
Oh that man is clever..

Vanira:*Snorts* I'd throw one in your face if it wasn't a waste of a good pie...!
Oh my..I've got to see that..

Sel: *He makes a gesture as if he was about to slap his thigh to mimic a particular sound*

Aiden Vega: "I am to House Vale Estate - I'll be sure to keep this uh... meeting to no one's knowledge."

Sel: *He raises a brow and glances at Vanira*
The rumors will spread like fire...

Aiden Vega: "May your company enjoy the pie.. be well gents."
How blissful..

Sel: *He points at the door but only mouths the words "Lewd man" then places his ear to the door with a devilish grin*

Vanira: *There is a bit of color in the elf's cheeks and she gives the men an apologetic look.*

Image

And there it was the rosiest cheeks I've seen on an elven woman, the tip of her ears just as red. And it was "Boots"..A Captain of the Radiant Hearts, a Councilor of Doron Amar. If one could to attach horns on her head and a tail on her arse , she surely look like a fiendish tiefling. Hells, is she was without her effects, she would be crimson in blush from ear tips to toes. Oh the rumors that will spread from this moment will surely be quite entertaining.

Rumors from the Elfsong

A trade merchant namely Levana Tramodu and other patrons of the Elfsong Tavern had seen a large man name Wulfrik and a elven woman known as Vanira, invite the scoundrel of a bartender known as Sel from Roaringshore upstairs to one of the many private rooms of the Elfsong Tavern. Additionally later on, another man known as Aiden Vega who had the unsure expression of what he encountered that day in the Elfsong Tavern. Patrons would had seen him walk down the stairs with a distraught and concerned expression upon his face. A man with an uncomfortable poster? Or a man with a devious grin? It might be hard to tell under the dim blue lighting of the Elfsong Tavern. However after a particular scoundrel was leaving, it was heard he muttered the words..

"The Blushing Elfsong was a pie throwing experience!"
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Rumors In the Elfsong

It has been days that some wild rumors about an elven Captain of the Radiant Hearts might had been indulging in some indecorous quality time with a large hulking man, and a known scoundrel. But many understand rumors spoken from drunk lips, are not always what they seem to be. Most of the times, for there's a sayin that when a person is drunk, often times what's true in their hearts tend to spill out like a pitcher of ale.

However there has been talks of one other thing not so quite indecent. A dock worker of Luskan origins is often found in the renown Elfsong Tavern. She frequents the tavern regularly. Some may say quite consistent. Even if she appears to be searching for nothing, nor interested in anything. She seems to always be there, at the bar listening to the ghostly song while she relaxes with her drink.
