The Journal of Ryltar - Escaped Convict, Murderer, Drow

Unread post by paragon_nemesis »

I'm writing this journal in the common tongue. That way if I should perish, it will have more odds of others being able to read it. Instead of in my home tongue of drow.

It's not been so long since my escape. I doubt they've even noticed me missing with how long they would lock me in solitary.

My first cycle out. I was able to grab my gear on the way out of the towers. Found my way into Sshamath. I stayed to the shadows and completed some tasks for some coin in my pouch. Gotta keep careful in case they send more bounty hunters or assassins. Something tells me they have their hands full. I have to find whoever sent that last batch of bounty hunters. Not many people knew where I was headed. Perhaps Sshamath will be a smoother ride. They have a lot of freedoms here compared to back home in Menzoberranzan. No self-righteous jalil to try to order me around. Sometimes they're the most fun to shred to pieces...

I found my way to some adventurers. They appear to be on a mission of some kind. Perhaps a hunting group. I'll just stick to this wall while they pass by. Good. They never even suspected me. I'm gonna give them a follow and see what they're up to. I see hunting parties here don't favor stealth like back home. What fun...

Following the party it seems like they are indeed on some sort of mission. They seem to have completed it and are now moving on.

I decided to sneak with the summons. They're so careless about how much noise they're making they don't even see me standing in the shadows of the summons. What fun. Should I cut one down? Better not yet. Perhaps there's some allies around this place. Never trust the word "friend." not in drow society. Every last one of them is waiting for their chance to ghost you and take what's yours.

I got so close to this group. I was practically breathing down their necks. They didn't know how close they were to death. I could take one and disappear down the tunnels and come back around for the others later. One at a time. Or just wait until the split off. I'll leave them for now. They don't seem to be hunting me.

I follow the group through the basilisks, north to the Troglodytes, and then back to East of Varalla's. There I'll split from them and let them head back to Sshamath. I'll keep a note of them and watch more in the future.

Oh what luck is this? A jalil, alone in the tunnels. That group may be still nearby though. This one smells good. Maybe I'll bleed her, sweet-like. Must've spooked her a bit. Good instincts this one. My axes crave a carving. She's warding herself. I'll leave her be for now. She doesn't seem a danger to me.

Time to seperate myself from all this movement. I'm not sure how safe it is around here yet. I'm gonna head this way.

Found my way through some caverns. Some mushrooms trying to sneak around. I didn't even need a weapon to kill them. *Laughs* Found a boat at the end of the cavern that lead me to some type of outpost. Found even more denizens around here. I watched until nobody was around. Then I was able to meet up and sell to one of these merchants. He didn't ask many questions and I stuck to the darker parts of the tent so he couldn't see me well.

There's a couple of boats over this way. I think I'll "borrow" one. *Grin*

Found my way to some sort of ruins, but it looks like this other boat is pointed right towards some sort of cave over there. I'm gonna take that path first. Found some treasures, killed some spiders as well as some quisups. Not a bad haul. One spider was particularly annoying. No matter how many times I killed him, he kept returning. Finally I left him broken and just walked away. Normally, what I kill stays dead.

I'm gonna come up here and go back to those ruins and see what's there.

Not much of note out here. Looks like some drow ready for killing. My favorite. I stalked and killed quite a few in this area. I don't believe they're affiliated to Sshamath, or that outpost. So I don't think this is going to draw any attention, for now. They had some spellcasters and I had to be careful when fighting them, but they died easily enough. It looks like this minecart track leads somewhere else. Also, I saw a door back there leading inside of some large structure. The Architecture here I'm not certain is of drow origin. It's interesting there's so many here. Those Golems are a bit tough to take down compared to the rest. I'll find their weakness soon enough.

I'll head back for now and sell more to that merchant if it's clear.
