After a brief excursion to Candlekeep, the half-sun sorceress that had been making regular visits to the Mystran temple now redirects her attention to the Thayan Enclave in the Wide. She does not bother to explain her visits in perfect detail, only asking for a meeting with one of the Red Wizards before wandering out to wait in the garden; rumor has it, however, that the elfblood is seeking passage to Thay, and is ready to offer a tidy sum for it...

The sorceress continues to spend an increasing amount of time waiting in the garden atop the Enclave. As the days go by without a response, she can even be found sleeping in the gazebo: Often a restless, light sleep, born of boredom and fatigue but not seeming to amount to much in the grand scheme of things. Her excursions into the city below grow infrequent, concerned mostly with bodily necessities such as food and drink (both of which she consumes in excess, perhaps to prolong her ability to wait in the garden between meals).

The Thayans within also see a reduction in the frequency of her visits: She grows weary of repeating her requests, and her light wardrobe is ill-suited to the coming winter without the use of wards, all of which are stripped unfailingly upon every visit by the Enclave's defenses. All the same, her intentions have not changed, and her keen interest in the matter is unmistakable.

The sorceress was visited late in the evening by a priestess of Ilmater, and a lengthy conversation ensued. At one point, a low, maniacal laugh could be heard coming from the Thayan garden, but the discussion continued unabated, until the priestess withdrew to her temple.

Some time later, the half-elf made one final visit to the Enclave interior, though if not for her wardrobe, she might not have been recognized at all: Where there was once fire and impatience in her gaze and the tone of her voice, now there is only a void, with no discernible beginning or end, suffusing every aspect of her being and behavior. It thus likely comes as no surprise when she softly informs the Thayan merchant that the Enclave's services will no longer be needed.

Strangely, she does not recast her usual elemental ward upon exiting the Thayan complex this time. Instead, she makes her way, noticeably shivering but otherwise uncomplaining, to the nearest clothes seller, purchasing some warmer clothes before wandering aimlessly out into the city below...

The tiefling bardess known as Sera could be seen making her way towards the Iron Throne Headquadters from the Ilmater temple. Wearing a simple, but rather beautiful looking blue dress, she travelled through the streets. She awaited her place in preparations to perform at the auditions for the Grand Ball.

A woman in a red dress with silvery-blonde hair could be seen hurrying out of the Iron Throne headquarters, running through the streets of the Steeps district with a worried look on her face. She was seen occasionally stopping to ask locals questions before hurrying her way to the docks. She eventually stopped at a crying tiefling woman by the water and seemed to go over and console her. She remained with the woman for some time before embraces were exchanged. After a few more exchanged words, the woman in the red dress stepped away from the tiefling woman and departed for the Manorborn District, now with a look of relief and hope on her face.

A sun elf and a faerie dragon arrive to the city. After asking a few directions, they arrive to the Temple of Tyr, where they ask (nicely) to speak with the archivists. Apparently they will not leave until they speak with such person.

Whoever notices them, they can be seen playing a weird game called "The most ancient game of all times" or just reading. Their names are Alariador and Lasheren.

A woman dressed in the blacks and yellows of the Zhentarim and wearing a distinctive horned mask was seen within the Blushing Mermaid speaking with a hooded individual. She was not seen either entering or leaving through the front door.

In the shadiest and most secluded corners of the lower city to the bowels of the sewers and the Undercellars blackmarket, Footpads, and Arms were sent out to shake down anyone that appeared to be under the influence of the rumored Red Spice. Some would inquire with guile and subtlety, others came with a more befriending approach, others thought violence was the best means.*

*As abruptly as the coercion or compulsion came within the lower city of Baldur's , it abruptly ceased. All of the ones shaken with fright quickly gave up information. The inquiring bodies changed their demeaners after getting the answers they wanted with smiles only a devil could give or some with toothless grins with thick arms.*

Image

"Now that's a good lad, didn't mean to scare ya, just needed to ask some questions." *Big hands clasped around scrawny arms*
"Sorry for the interruptions you may continue as you were." *Smug grin*
"Oh by the way, the Landlord says apologies for the inconvenience."

*Brawny men radiating brute thuggery made their leave boldly snatching drinks or a piece of bread from the patrons that looked out of place within the Blushing Mermaid, Elsewhere people that looked like mere commoners or dock workers suddenly disappeared and not seen again. In the dark alley's masked figures retracted knives or blades wiping any bloodstains on the clothing of the interrogated persons, soon silently faded off into the shadows leaving whimpers and cries echoing off the cobblestones.*

*Elsewhere a man was smiling while reading the contents of a letter that was appealing*

In the weeks preceding the impending Duchal Court, a young halfling wearing the colors and crest of House Vale can be found on various days at the Wide, Outer City, Steeps and Heapside seated at a simple merchant's stall labeled, "Complaints."

When approached, he informs that House Vale seeks to further the Gate and its people and is open to hearing any issues that the complainer would see brought before the court. All complaints are dutifully recorded with cheerful and courteous naivety regardless of merit along with the identity of the complaining party unless anonymity is requested.

The Iron Throne's Gala

“It's discouraging to think how many people,
are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.”

Image

On the 8th Hammer 1360 DR, the lower city of Baldur's Gate had more activity than usual. The Iron Throne a guild of merchants as per rumors, held a Gala within its halls. Many people from up and down the coast came to attend, with each one having to give a self introduction of themselves before the large gathering crowd.

Image
Waiter: "Please come forth!"

Haelwing: "Who have we here?"

Sel: *He held out a hand that contained a small box with a chin nod to the Half Orc for he had observed the bodyguard taking the offered gifts from other patrons* "The name is Sel, simply that, Captain of the Sparrowhawk ,bartender of rumors." *He gave a smile* "I bring a gift." *Glancing at the box.*

Karud The Bodyguard: "Diamonds, Overseer. No enchantments, precious and harmless." *He glances at Terence then back to Sel before withdrawing.*

Ernst Eyzt: "A bartender.. hmm rather finely dressed is he not?"

Haelwing: "Thank you Captain, generous of you. Please join us and enjoy the evening."

Robb Burrows: "Maybe he is working here later like those celebrity types, all the age in Neverwinter I heard."

Drinks, dances, conversations filled the Iron Throne this day....

*I am convinced that human life is filled with many pure, happy, serene examples of insincerity, truly splendid of their kind of people deceiving one another without any wounds being inflicted, of people who seem unaware even that they are deceiving one another.*

Some peoples presence was surely questionable,
but given the Gala was held within the Lower Districts of Baldur's ,
many might had merely turned a blind eye.

But to those with the insightful minds, would likely think about how the Gala concluded. The maid known as Victoria took the stage after renown and familiar minstrels to sing a song herself. With the performance of a beginner, but the soft voice that was still pleasing to the ears, it would appear the maid did decently well. However the lyrics to her song seem to had unnerved the Host of the Gala causing him to depart soon after the song was concluded.

"Hidden in plain sight,

Unseen threads intertwine,

Dark secret dance unfolds,

Where hearts unknowingly entwine,

Their paths cross, yet remain unaligned."

"Whispered words, unheard,

Yearning hearts, silent cries,

Destiny's veil, tightly bound,

Dance's enigma, veiled in disguise."

Haelwing: *After exchanging a few hushed words he speaks louder again.* "Forgive me... I must... I must retire." *He clearly seems distressed, and it's evidently rude for a host to leave the floor.* "Victoria... make sure the guests enjoy themselves." *He commanded*

Bhor Stonecutter walks out from Kraak Helzak. He pays for a caravan to Baldur's Gate where he enters the Duchal palace to be part of the courtal meeting.

For hours there is much talk of pirates at the seas, poverty and an insidious drug striking the poor.

He is greatly moved by Ashenies Darakh speech about the hunger and famine in the Lower city.

Bhor is in deep thought and almost raises a hand to be allowed to say some words, but backs down. Instead he makes some notes before leaving. He will probably try reaching out to aid.

*It has been over a month that dark figures lurking within shadows of street allies to nightly rooftops, hiding in plain sight amongst the many populace of the city.
Even silhouettes within the underbelly of the city appears to sometimes take shape and move. Many of them amused at how the city reacts to the recent drug epidemic, increased patrols, gatherings of several kinds to unify their brain storming. One particular figure uttered a low whisper speaking to himself*

"Yet with all their efforts, they just couldn't see that what they seek is just at arms length to them. They've greeted the source, sat next to the source, even shared drinks and fire with the distributers. This is indeed very amusing. But not surprising."

*As the sun was nearly rising, the figure soon leaped down from one of the rooftops landing like one of the many cats within the city. He looked left then right seeing the alley clear of commoners or Watch patrols. Noticing it was clear the figure soon disappeared only to later reappear looking like one of the many merchants heading to the Wide*
