Ancestor: when the three kingdoms fell and the desert inevitably won, their ancestors retreated to magical shelters on the edge of the desert. There they hoped to escape the life-draining magic, but over the centuries that followed, their kaers were destroyed by denizens of the Underdark and demonic creatures attracted by the tainted magic of the desert. Eight years ago, Jalavie and her two younger siblings were able to escape from one of these kaers at the sacrifice of their parents before it was devoured by one of these demonic creatures along with all of its remaining inhabitants.
