Rumors of Ulgoths Beard

Somewhere between the ruins of Ulgoth's Beard and Baldur's Gate, a pair conspired.

The pair were clearly in a state of recovery as they moved through the wilderness before settling upon a very tall, two hundred foot tall tree.

An augur was used to drill into the wood, and some sort of compound was inserted into the tree, followed by lit fuse, and the pair did flee to a point of refuge before a loud explosion disturbed the morning air.

As the tree came crashing down, the male figure cheered and pointed, as he marked the path of the tree's descent.

And with much noise and a now downed tree, a hat was returned to its owner.

On the morning of 25 Eleasis 1360, a small gathering took place near the despoiled ruins of Ulgoth's Beard.
At first, a pair of odd-looking travelers made its way to the broken fortifications along the riverbank all the way to the edge of the town, only to be joined by a third man shortly after their arrival.



The group seemingly curious about the fate of the little town and the logistics surrounding its fall, discussed the topic of the recent demonic raid and its potential consequences upon the Ducal Lands and its inhabitants. Not desiring to linger for too long in the area, fearing the effects of the foul energies riddling the ground and water, and concerned about the demonic hordes ambushing them, the three retreated shortly after, continuing their talk while heading back to the Gate, wherein they hoped to find more answers.

A somewhat lost group of Knights, elves and others were seen near Ulgoth Beard heading first in a westerly direction, then suddenly turning about to go east, then deciding at the end to go north.

People speculate they were doing some odd ritual as they repeatedly walked back on themselves.

They later return many Candlemarks near Ulgoth once more, escorting a larger group of individuals, some of the knights and elves carrying what might have been bodies in their arms.

Alongside knights, clerics of other goodly deities, and others who wish to help in the face of the demon scourge, Rivka - the young ethran of Rashemen, has been seen lending her own aid to the Flaming Fist and others efforts on the front with Ulgoth. She brings donated food, medical supplies alongside the Church of Ilmater, and there are times as demons rush positions, that the earth and sky themselves would open up to harry the demons and aid the defenders and protectors of the realm. After such skirmishes, she can be seen with drum and incense, cleansing the ground in her own way, presumably alongside others efforts. She makes no effort to hide what she does and frequently offers to explain, and complies with the orders directed to her by those of rank within the Flaming Fist, within reason.

A small distance south of Ulgoth's Beard, still overrun by demonic forces, a small contingent of adventurers was seen entering into some tunnels that were opened up by Flaming Fist engineers so that an operation against the occupying forces could take place. The party consisted of several members of the Bladestone Foundation in the lead and several more in support. A well rounded team of line combatants, skirmishers, mages, and divine magics.

Several hours later the team emerged, battered some, covered in various mucks and ichor, but all alive, healthy, and seemingly victorious. Rumors and reports tell of dozens of undead shock troops, demonic spiders of multiple sizes, demons, and balor officers laid low by the groups efforts and of a portal smashed before it could be activated to bring in Abyssal reinforcements.

The majority of the party returned to the Warrior's Rest on the Lion's Way to celebrate well into the night.

thank you Sparty for the amazing run! it was incredible amounts of fun. Also cheers to everyone who came along, it was one of /the/ smoothest run, well balanced, and fully participatory events I've had in a LONG time. Everyone got to do something and everyone was key at some point or another. Such ridiculously well completed runs are rare and this was an incredible amount of fun.

Hellfire smoke of awful color permeated the air. The stench of blood, death, and battle still lingered. But already there was the promise of renewal, a gentle breeze coming in off the waters.

Above the ruin of the village, two laborers toiled to renew what was undone. Carefully setting stones back into prior place, along with a few new ones. Occasionally pausing to admire or listen to their work, the sotnes had to be positioned just so, to catch the sound of the winds passing through.

Only when shrine was renewed, did they too depart the cliffs, a moment of prayer shared over the graves of departed friends.

Of the man, his long legged steps were lighter.

In the days after the purge of demon forces from Ulgoth's Beard, resident and owner of the Pub, The Last Anchor, Derik Ranloss is seen picking through the remains.

He is accompanied by the blonde elf, Lylan'Synor as they take notes of various things around the town to find out what materials of what amounts will be necessary to help expediate the rebuilding of the small fishing and farming village.

Careful and quiet, a spindly Elven form crowned with leaves and antlers skulks along the Chionthar, observing where the village once sat, grimacing deeply as the corruption still seeped into the ground emanates its pain. The druid examines the area with care, especially the central, horrid root-tree thing, gathering information she might hope to share, with those equipped to see the land healed once more, now that the worst of the demonic presence, was gone.

Just outside of Ulgoths Beard on the path that lead to the Baldur's Gate stood often a City Watchman under orders to make sure any passerby would denied entry to abyssal corrupted village. The recruit Norin Brows was a dutiful City Guard, who continued his regular patrols but had always included his share of time assisting the Flaming Fist in keeping travelers out of Ulgoths Beard. Most would think the task boringly secluded, but the recruit renown for his diligence never complained. If ever asked why he dedicates such time and effort his only reply would come sternly.
