Recruit Brows would constantly be seen diligently patrolling the streets in search of people fitting the description of the murder culprits. All that knows him , knows he's not a man to bend, not a man to bribe nor a man that will falter in doing his job. Some say he's bullheaded, others say he's too straight.

"Evening Ma'am, you a citizen of Baldur's or a visitor?"

"Sir, you a citizen of the city or a visitor?"

*Are often the things the recruit is often heard asking around the city. He's seen continuing his patrolling and searching around for murder suspects in the city as well as adding guard duty at various entrance within the borders of Baldurs Gate Duchal lands, or even observing from along the city walls.*

*Rumors would spread around the city of Baldur's that for the past few days, some of the City Watchmen were looking for Half Orcs males for questioning. Some residence in the Upper City would also had seen an increase presence of City Watchmen patrolling around the Everwinter Estate. Any of those that came near or to visit the Everwinter Estate during the day or night would be met with some City Guards on High Alert. And the recruit Norin Brows was surely among them.*

Norin Brows: "Excuse me, Rheag, I'm must speak with you in regards to official buisness."

Ephraim Skaira: "With a weapon out. Tha' looks real official."

Rhaeg: What d'you want.

Norin Brows: *He looks to the the man* "As with All other watchmen..if you had not noticed...Sir." *His attention turns to Rhaeg* "I on orders by the Captain of the City Watch, I need to ask you a few questions.

Ephraim Skaira:"Ya... We noticed."

Rhaeg: That's funny, I don't recall havin' yet gotten my requested meetin' with Moruene, what with th'many, many questions I've got for her. And now you've got th'audacity t'try t'ask me questions?

Norin Brows: "I'm not here by Moruene, I'm on orders by Captain Monlieu. And my orders are you ask you a few questions. Do you decline?"

Rhaeg: Make it piking quick. Speak.

The recruit Norin Brows was questioning a half orc, claiming his reasons were official business. However nearly when he had finish his questions, there was another man along side the familiar half orc, that reeked of alcohol and had matted hair and an eye patch that seemed very upset.

Ephraim Skaira: "(do-me) you, Watchman. *He spits in Norin's direction.*

Ophelia Lockwood: *Hand moved to her mouth to stifle laughter.*

Norin Brows: *He looked sternly at the cursing man* "Did you hear me blame the man? Sir?"

Ephraim Skaira: "I hear enough, ya condescendin' little shiteheap."

Norin Brows: "Please don't interrupt..this is Official business." *He stared sternly at the human male*

Ephraim Skaira: "Go blow yer captain. Officially."

Norin Brows: *He made another notation* "Disregard if you haven't heard of it. Thank you for your time Sir" *He then turned to Ephraim* "You there. What is your name?..Sir?"

Rhaeg: Will that be all, then?

Ephraim Skaira: *Silence*

Norin Brows: *He gave a stern nod to the Half Orc* "Yes that will be all." *He looks back to the human then boldly walked closer* "I'll ask you respectfully again...What is..your name..Sir Ah and incase you are unware of the laws of the City of Baldurs..Withholding Identity is a crime punishable by banishment.

Ephraim Skaira: *One dead little eye peered at Norin.*

Norin Brows: "Funny..you seemed to have plenty to say earlier..are you feeling well?"

The Speaker of the Commons departed one night to, in his words, "keep tabs on" a "Blue Lantern Keep", saying he would not be gone from the city long.

He did not return in the timeframe he'd suggested, provoking much worry and consternation among Commons members. Just as certain members were about to attempt some sort of search or rescue effort; he returned, rather worse for wear.

A dark skinned man wearing outlandish armor, a green cape, and a black and red striped beanie on his head strolls into the Three Old Kegs. He hiccups loudly as he approaches the bar and meets with Bellowglyn's First Daughter, the barmaid. He nearly trips into the bar and almost smashes his head into the bar ledge, but a nearby patron catches him just in time.

"My good lady!" He calls out to the barmaid in a loud, tipsy voice as he recovers. "Get me your finest stout!"

He pays for the drink, grabs it and strolls off into the game lounge. A few patrons playing pool and cards look to the man as he loudly clears his throat.

"Good people in this here four kegger!" He raises his stout mug high and shouts to everyone listening. "My name is Koolah Salekue... Koolah Salkeuel.. Koolah Salk... Oh! Just call me Koolah! Today I saw justices dished out from the flaming fist!" He walks around the room, drinking and announcing to all of the people present, now quiet and distracted by the strange, drinking man, yelling out his story and interrupting their games.

"This new Flaming Fister Maam, this woman! Uh.. Norina Bows! She apprehend a cutthroat pickpocket today. The bad guy tried to escape over some fenced off bush area after stealing my purse, but he failed! Not only did Norina return my money stolen, I got compensation and meat!" He suddenly and enthusiastically pulls out a strip of raw bloody bat and weasel meet and shows it off to everyone. A few of the patrons glare angrily at the display, clearly disgusted.

"Hey, you're getting blood on our card game here!"

"Let us give it up fer the lovely, beautiful, Norina Bows! The Flaming Fist Maam! " The man whirls around suddenly and points towards ... nobody. He suddenly remembers he came in alone. There is a long awkward silence as everyone in the room stares at the strange, weird, and drunken man.

"Are you done?" One of the annoyed patrons asks, angrily.

". . . drinks on me everyone! " Koolah shouts out. Everyone continues to stay silent for just a moment... before erupting into a jubilant response. The man named Koolah spends the rest of his day staying drunk and paying for all the patron's drinks. He tells everyone he talks to about some Norina Bows, who Koolah claims is a flaming fist woman, and that she is doing a wonderful job at upholding the law in Baldur's Gate.

Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate

Unread post by Ashenie »

With the tendays that pass, the endeavors of the Ilmatari do not cease. Still mending old wounds from the Crimson Spice and the dreadful experience of dependency, still caring of those afflicted by the Abyss, its cultists, and its darkness, the tireless healing they provide is a constant embrace of relief blindly offered.

Among many endeavors, it is said that Sister Ashenie has been taking to heart to take children away from the sewers, a place too often colored by unspeakable dangers that children cannot face on their own. From the degradation of addicition and the need to pay for it, even concerning children, to the nightmares of abyssal cults and murder, from the rats and the scents to the absence of daylight, it is said that she is unwilling to leave them prey to more harms.

Quietly, but surely, and especially for babies and very young children who need to rely on others, the Sister continues to care. It is said that, since the Crimson Spice, she has gotten help, even from other street children, and other people of various backgrounds.

To any who ask, it is said that Ilmater takes exceptional offense at child abuse, and that none of them can be left to suffer and cry alone.

In the mists of morning, a quiet, robed figure is seen wandering towards Eastway to meet an elderly woman. Their sorrowful exchange carries a palpable weight of pain and grief. Sister Ashenie offers aid and support to the mounful old woman, guiding her to the shrin, in the Ossuary. Time passes gently, and words of love and comfort are spoken. It is said that both Sister Ashenie and Mother Juna offered their counsel, answering questions and assisting in any way they could.

Sister Ashenie is later seen in the Upper City, meeting with Lucas Brokentower, the right hand of Captain Monlieu. With a gentle approach, she explains the circumstances of the death. She also delivers a message of great emotion, likely the last words of a loved one. She then leads the City Watchman to the Shrine's Ossuary, where he is allowed to spend the night in vigil over the departed, following a long conversation with the Sister.

Finally, a ceremony is held within the Shrine of the Suffering, honoring the memory of Marie Brokentower. Words of mercy and grace resonate through the chapel. In their tireless efforts, the Ilmatari are said to try to offer solace and care, even in the midst of such sorrowful times.

It is said that a large operation from the City Watch and the help of Adventurers, Commons' Militia, and Flaming Fist Company has stopped the cult of the Iron Clad Mercenaries, devoted to Cyric-Bhaal. Many bodies have been transported from Eastway to the Temple of Ilmater. Many helped transport the body, either guards or commoners, adventurers or foreigners... so none is left to die and rot within the house of murder.

Rumor says that some of the victims who have beene risen as undead were first walled alive. They attempted to escape in vain.

In the Shrine of the Suffering, The Sisters of Ilmater, helped by a witch of Rashemen, a wizard, and many of the adventurers and the soldiers of the City Watch and Falming Fist Company have undertaken a long endeavor of identification of each body. It is said that prestidigitation, auguries and divination have been consulted and used for the task. The families and loved ones of those who suffered have been reached, and supported in their mournful sadness.

To each victim, the Temple is said to have performed resurrection rituals, in order to call them back to life. Only two people out of fifty came back, and seem to be a couple in love. For all the others, decent burials and funerals according to their and their families' wishes are held. The Temple of Ilmater resonates with mournful choirs, quiet and strangled cries, and suffering, as each of the Ilmatari and volunteer offer time and counsel.

When questioned, the Sisters of the Shrine of the Suffering explain that each and every soul has reached their chosen destination, and that none of them have been forcefully held or consumed, despite the dreadful end that they knew.

It would be known the City Watch and the Flaming Fist, made their firm presence in display in the East District, to show just whom are the Authorities of the City of Baldur's.

*A watchmen approaches with several other watchmen and raised his voice to the gathered crowed consisting of adventurers, citizens of the city and even visitors.*

"I guess Rhaeg kinda left me in charge on this one."

"That is incorrect. Let it be known this is Official Business. You all must break up this gathering and disperse! Those that are not in the City Watch Uniform..I ask you respectfully please disperse from the vicinity, This is an Official Matter."

"Disruption of official business is...Against the LAW!"
"Loitering Is also...Against the LAW"
*The recruits as well senior ranking City Watchmens, broke up the gathering of adventurers, civilians and visitors that were on their toes, warded and ready to storm in to battle the reported Cyric-Bhaal Cult Hide Out*

"That is the problem now a days. Common folks , random adventuerers tend to forget, they are not Authority."

Image

Later on....

"Sir, if I may, I think it will be wise to Allow the other adventurers to assist in this matter. We only dispersed their gathering because they had seem to had forgotten they were not the authorities. That had to be well established. And now that it has...I recommend accepting their helping hand if they so wish it...."

Baldur's Gate - explosion in Manorborn District. (AI-generated)
It seems there is no time to rest for Baldur's Gate. A mansion was set on fire in Manorborn district, apparently in the name of the Commons. While these terrorists were apprehended, a group of adventurers moved out to capture these enemies of Baldur's Gate. Under the charge of treason, sedition and multiple murders, they will be hanged soon, in about a tenday. The adventurers are thanked for their part, and now they're asked to let justice do its course. There seem to be no ties to the Ironclad Blades, despite some theories seem to travel across the districts.
Image

In the aftermath of the attack on the Manorborn mansion, Chancellor Sean moved among the smoldering wreckage, his armor dented and stained with blood from a brutal fight earlier that night. His slashed surcoat bore the marks of combat, while small splashes of flammable liquid still clung to the edges of his gauntlets and boots. Now, the noble estate was reduced to a charred ruin, the stench of smoke and death heavy in the air.

With steady hands, he climbed over the burned timbers, carefully retrieving bodies from the wreckage. Each corpse was carried to the street, where they were wrapped in linen for inspection, their weight often disturbingly light. His armor occasionally caught a flicker of flame from lingering embers touching unknown stains, forcing Sean to beat out the sparks clinging to his charred armor.

Despite the weight of fatigue from both combat and the grim task, Sean assisted city officials with identifying the dead and locating survivors. His voice, though steady, carried a weary note as he informed waiting families and officials of losses. Even through the haze of smoke and destruction, his resolve remained steadfast. As the night dragged on and the work seemed endless, Sean continued without pause, clearly driven by a duty far stronger than the exhaustion creeping into his limbs.

When dawn finally broke over the scene of devastation, Sean still labored amidst the ruins, departing only once the site was cleared and all those lost were accounted for.

The Thieves' Guild does not seem to be alone in trying to offer the so-called "Blaggers" a family: Some of the Commons Militia can also be seen wandering the streets at random hours, offering a sympathetic ear and trying to steer the kids towards safer or at least more respectable lives.

One of them in particular, a young redhead who might be known for leading the Militia to battle against the Ironclad Blades earlier this month, seems quick and eager to challenge the Guild's recruitment in particular. In many ways, she looks like one of them, acts like one of them, and knows their stories: It was not so many years ago that she grew up on the streets of a city just like this, and chose time after time to lead the life they're leading now. It was not so long ago that she made choices and did things she now regrets, and is still trying to make up for today.

She approaches them openly, without fear: She has nothing to hide from, and the gangs themselves are no threat to the now-seasoned adventurer. She shows off her talents gladly, to amaze and to entertain, leaving no room for doubt in the kids' minds that she could be in the Guild if her conscience allowed it. Those who are receptive to some aspect of her offer are inevitably guided off the street: The hungry and weary forgotten by society, to the gentle care of the Shrine of Suffering; the adventurous, the noble, and the thrill-seeking, to be introduced to a familiar old half-orc...

That familiar old half-orc has not been idle in the meantime; he delivered a well-attended speech on the morning of 28 Eleint to the Commons Assembly.

The Old Warchief-to-be

“Some time ago, in a land far away, there once was a man who wished to be Warchief. He wished for a great horde to do all his bidding, he wished for fame, and damsels, and razing!”
[...]

For a few days in Baldur's Gate, from Steeps to Manorborn, in taverns and street-corners, a new tune has been doing the rounds of the city, sung by bards of all stripes. A cheery-sounding fable, the "Old Warchief-to-be" tells a strange tale, of an ambitious man from the distant North, who came to the South at the end of his life, seeking fortune and wealth.
When inquired about it, some of the performers would claim the song as their own, while others, when pressured, would state that the tale was commissioned by an unknown benefactor through a courier.

[...]
The innocent people, who didn’t know better, by lure of wealth soon came to be raptured. The Chieftain-to-be spread his greed far and wide, an envious drive turning men from their toils:
“How is it fair, if you can’t earn enough? Do you not see that it’s someone else’s fault?”
[...]

Though the rhymes are light and tone of the piece is overall quite jolly and frivolous, the tale within has a rather grim ending, warning the people of the South to be wary of outlandish promises coming from foreigners, and of the great misery that greed and envy can bring, especially when they are hidden under a semblance of virtue.

//OOC: If one wishes to investigate on the tale by listening to one of the performers, a full transcript with the story from start to finish can be found in the library at the Manorborn District.
