Profile
Character Info:
Name: Valzt
Full name: Va lyn'sszton
Age: 120's aprox.
Race: Drow
Sex: Male
Place of birth: Menzoberranzan
Profession: Agent of the Bregan D'earthe
Classes: Assassin
Deity: Lolth(?)
Physical description:
Valzt is a fairly young male, tall, lean, and of a very athletic build. He bears the usual traits of his kind: black skin, red eyes and silver white, shoulder length hair. He seems to carry himself in a rather bold fashion, seemingly carefree and as if nothing around him is serious enough. He more often than not is found with a trademark wry smirk or grin.

He wears light, form fitting darkened spider silk and leather attire, designed to make as little noise as possible when moving and blend nicely against the backgrounds of the Underdark. He has a long 2-part cloak and hooded, scarf-like mantle, resting around his shoulders. It is held by a brooch clasp bearing the symbol of the Bregan D'earthe.

He is armed with a few pairs of short blades at his waist and back, as well as throwing knives from a bandolier across his chest.
Psychological description:
Valzt hides his competence, dedication and professionalism, which he pursues with ruthless efficiency, under a façade of irreverence and foolish mockery. The question "What's the point of murder, if you can't have fun while doing it?" would perfectly encapsulate is outlook on life and demeanor.

He has no illusions about the world he was born into, and has found his own way of reveling in it. Living under Lolth's rule, the day-to-day house on house conflict, the cunning underhanded moves, the carefully executed murders would all be perfect for him if he also had a semblance of control over his own destiny, instead of an increasingly short life expectancy.

After all, to be ordered to the altar by a priestess is easy and boring. Real fun and skill comes from being able to bring about the other's end, without them realizing it before its too late. If he is to meet his end, let the one who does work for it, earn it. Then maybe he too will find amusement in that.

He only feels loyalty and kinship towards the other elements of the Bregan D'earthe, provided they are not a detriment to the whole.
Religious views:
"Sometimes the gods listen to you, sometimes they listen to someone else. The best thing about the gods and faiths is the conflict they generate... and thats what I'm here for."
He doesn't care to formally follow or worship most for the most part. Yet, regardless if willingly or unwittingly, he does serve as an instrument by which the Spider Queen spreads her chaos.
Biography
Family
Direct family, all low-born to his former house, and moreso, hardly worth mentioning.
Presumably all dead, some even before the fall of Valzt's former House.
History
Low born of a Lolth House in Menzoberranzan, Valzt was both usual and not. Like most of his kind under the rule of the Spider Queen, he found his place in the organized chaos that permeated the underground city. His style however was exceedingly irreverent, as an attempt to find his own amusement in the motions of life. He could afford it only because he demonstrated skill far above average as this behavior was extremely infuriating to the highborn nobles, and in particular, the priestesses, who only tolerated his antics for as long as he remained useful. His loud moth and with leading to frequent disciplinary lashings, met with gritted teeth. He knew well enough all that stood between him and the sacrificial altar, was a particularly bad day.

When he was approached by a Bregan D'earthe recruiter, he was made an offer he could hardly refuse. He would get to do what he liked, and did best, but under a much more rewarding and lenient organization that would highly value his skills. It was clear they knew far too well who they were hiring. Valzt's first job and initiation was against his own House. As an inside man, he was to lay some ground work and allow a small strike force to come in ahead of the main force. The strike force was let in and successfully compromised the House's defenses, and opened the gates for the attack proper. The house, now of no worth mentioning, fell quickly.

Valzt wasn't sure if the offer he got was real or just a trick, but he must have done well enough that when the dust settled, he indeed was formerly inducted into Jarlaxle Baenre's notorious company of mercenaries.

His career didn't keep him in Menzoberranzan forever though, as he eventually found himself assigned to a job which led him on a long winded pursuit of an elusive target, eventually ending up in Skullport. For a time, the hunt ground to a halt as the target vanished when they sought refuge and protection from one of the local criminal organizations. Valzt, undeterred, bid his time, mingling with the locals, made contacts and greased palms of the local criminal members to get any information he could.

During this time, he met Jyn who he was there on an unrelated matter. Jyn was a fellow member of the Bregan D'earthe, of the Sshamath Local Chapter under the Supervision of the necromancer, Zhax'ar. The two hit it off rather well and ended up cooperating. With the help of Jyn, Valzt eventually managed to track down and eliminate the target and guards. The two left behind a dark, silent and bloody corpse ridden warehouse.

Valzt then contacted his superiors to inform them of the completion of the job, they in turn, informed him of an the invitation that arrived bearing the signature of Zhax'ar. Valzt immediately accepted to be transferred to the Sshamath Chapter. A good time too, as members were low, and job opportunities were on the rise.

So began a new chapter in his life.
Future / Goals
Valzt likely would find reaching the higher rungs of the hierarchical ladder to be boring and joyless. His talents would be wasted on the more administrative positions. Being still young, he craves the more short term thrills of the job, and anything that keeps him from that he finds distasteful.

He is, however, devoted to improving his craft. Fame and notoriety matters only as much as it ensures he is the one geting more and better jobs.

He will continue to work diligently as an agent of the Bregan D'earthe and make himself a valued member before it's brothers and sisters, the only ones he finds any semblance of kinship for. Fun will be had and contracts will be fulfilled.
