Rumors of the Church of the Triadic

Church of the Triad
Image
The Church of the Triad is a small following of Knights and priests that venerate the triumvirate of Torm, Tyr, and Ilmater. Followers of the Triad may come from any of the three faiths, and may worship a single deity of the Triad, or all three. The Church of the Triad believes that each faith complements, and enhances the other, tempering their beliefs in Justice, Mercy, Duty, and Faith.
Codes of the Triad
Image
Ilmater leaning on Tyr, while Torm guides.
The Code of Torm:
Image
Be the champion of the weak and the defenseless.
Be stern, unyielding and unswerving in your battles with evil.
Obey your masters with alert judgment and anticipation.
Serve the common good and the rule of law established by honorable rulers.
Seek prowess and skill in all endeavors.
Stand ever alert against corruption.
Every failure of duty diminishes Torm and every success adds to his luster.
Be ever mindful of the code, and use them in your actions to swiftly enact justice.

The Code of Tyr:
Image
Always reveal the truth, punish the guilty, right the wrong, and be true and just In your actions.
Keep a record of your own deeds, and decisions, for through this your errors can be corrected.
Be vigilant in your observations and anticipations so you may detect injustices before actions threaten law and order.
Deliver Vengeance to the guilty for those who cannot do it themselves.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Tyr
The Code of Ilmater:
Image
Help all who hurt, no matter who they are.
The truly holy take on the suffering of others.
If you suffer in his name, Ilmater is there to support you.
Stick to your cause if it is right, no matter the pain or peril.
There is no shame in a meaningful death.
Stand up to all tyrants, and allow no injustice to go unchallenged.
Emphasize the spiritual nature of life over the existence of the material body.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Ilmater
The Threefold Oath:
Justice, tempered by Mercy.
Alleviate Suffering through Courage.
Deliver duty, so long as it is Righteous.
Knight of the Triad:
Image
A Triadic Knight worships the Triad, the union of Ilmater, Torm, and Tyr. They believe that to fully embody the virtues of a paladin, they must draw on the strengths of all three of these deities. Through courage and perseverance, Traidic Knights seek justice for all.
Traidic Knights are brave, persevering and honorable at all times, embodying the traits of all three members of the Triad. They exhibit more flexibility than most cleric and paladins of lawful good deities, since they are able to see better than most that sometimes justice must be tempered by mercy, that suffering must be alleviated through courage, and that obedience must give way to what is right.
Becoming a Triadic Knight requires dedication to not one god, but to three. They spend time studying the dogma of all three faiths and understanding how each church’s teachings strengthens the other two. At the start of their career, they will rotate among the three faiths, serving the needs of each church individually. As they become seasoned, however, they are expected to be able to identify specific weaknesses of each individual faith, and bring their understanding of the rest of the triad’s teachings to bear, thus strengthening all three.
Although Triadic knights once comprised a single order of Paladins, a slim majority of Traidic knights act as independent agents, lone paladins or clerics whom have embraced the worship of three like-minded deities with little resistance from members of individual faiths. Other Triadic Knights join one of the many orders dedicated to Torm, Tyr, or Ilmater. (Source: Champions of Valor p 123, 124, and 125.)http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Triadic_knight
The Vows of a Knight:
Upon my honor,
1. I will develop my life for the greater good.
2. I will place character above riches, and concern for others above personal wealth.
3. I will never boast, but cherish humility instead.
4. I will speak the truth at all times, and forever keep my word.
5. I will defend those who cannot defend themselves.
6. I will honor and respect women, and refute sexism in all its guises.
7. I will uphold justice by being fair to all.
8. I will be faithful in love and loyal in friendship.
9. I will abhor scandals and gossip-neither partake nor delight in them.
10. I will be generous to the poor and to those who need help.
11. I will forgive when asked, that my own mistakes will be forgiven.
12. I will live my life with courtesy and honor from this day forward.

A swirl of discussion speaks of several Knights and a rather large half-orc detaining a rather irate mage near the Tomb of Ser Billy, near the Friendly Arms Inn. Some speak of an undead cat that the mage had travelling with him. An altercation is said to have taken place that drew quite the crowd.

Shortly thereafter, Alexander Marshall, Althea Hartell, and the half-orc Buurk Gerz could be seen walking with an unknown man. Escorting him down the Trade Way toward Baldur's Gate, eventually entering the church of Mystra.

After years - a familiar, albeit older grey-clad knight was seen entering and exiting the churches dedicated to Torm, Tyr, and Ilmater. Speaking to any he could find regarding the state of things - and gathering information. This knight had been identified as Alexander Marshall - who has begun ensuring he is a regular mainstay within the Temple of Torm during waking hours. To ensure he might be properly reintroduced to the area.

Two Knights worked tirelessly alongside others in Nashkel to the south as the physical chaos sent the area into panic. Gaven Arkalis quickly escorted as many as he could gather to evacuate Nashkel due to the electrical discharges leaping from stone and wood - and Alexander Marshall could be seek ushering townspeople in the area toward that rendezvous. Duty compels service - and the pair would work until the task was complete.

On the dawn of the next day - the pair could be seen with the rest of the town's people - in quiet awe of the changed mountainside. Resolute faces scanning the survivors; steadfast and ready for the ensuing work. There would not be rest for some time, for either of them.

11 Alturiak 1361 DR

A new squire among the up-and-coming hopefuls of the Triadic Order, a large and battle-hardened elf called Elduril, has placed himself at the disposal of the three temples of the order in recent days. At first keeping to himself, interacting only when necessary and with those that oversee the squires, he eventually began to show a bit more comfort and familiarity towards most of the clergy, knights, and others that he encountered within each. The reserved and standoffish warrior was before long a frequent and friendly sight among the three locations.

To better accomodate his new commitments, he spent a good deal of time devising a schedule: The first, fourth, and seventh of each tenday was spent at the temple of Ilmater; the second, fifth, and eighth days at the temple of Tyr; and the third, sixth, and ninth days at the temple of Torm. Each day came with prayer in the chapels at dawn, followed by study of scipture and history according to each respective temple. Midday prayer came at high-sun, followed by volunteer work at the Ilmateri temple, observation of judicial proceedings at the Tyrran temple, and martial training at the Tormtar temple. Each day was concluded with evening prayer and reflection on lessons learned and trials to come. The last day of each decuple was spent outside of the temples, typically on patrol with the local adventurers with whom he'd become familiar since his arrival on the Coast in early Uktar of the year prior.

Those at the Shrine of the Suffering in particular would recognize Elduril from the past several tendays, where at first he would merely accompany the newly initiated Sister Carys, visiting with her and making herb deliveries, but has since began putting himself to work much in the same ways Carys did when she first began volunteering: Keeping the infirmary clean and sanitary, assisting with restocking and organizing supplies, and tending to the various needs of both the infirmed and the resident Brothers and Sisters of the faith. These days of his busy schedule were the more welcome ones, being that he knew those within better, and could of course spend some moments with that tiefling that held his deepest affections.

Under the soft glow of candlelight, a man sits at a desk within the Temple of Torm, penning a letter. A practiced hand writes, choosing his words carefully, and praying he does not lose himself to memories as he does so. It had been a long while since he had reached out to the Citadel, a longer while stil since he has walked those blessed halls but he hoped that his plea was heard in urgency.

With a flourish he signs the bottom of the letter and, upon reading it again and satisfaction finding him, he walks the rolled parchment over to where Gaven keeps his hawk. Offering the predator bird a small bite of meat, the man ties the letter to the bird's leg. Donning the protective leather arm mit, the hawk studiously stepped up onto the perch.

The night air was cool with a soft wind coming from the westerly direction. The man inhaled deeply, his eyes closed and lips silently giving a prayer to the Triad.

"Fly swift, fly safe." He said to the hawk as he extended his arm. He watched as the hawk flew with grace and speed, disappearing into the night air on silent wings. The man gripped the edge of the balcony, his eyes scanning across the districts that fell before him.

"Where are you hiding. . ?"

Word spreads throughout the farmland that the Church of the Triad and allies with them have set up a Triage area to aid in those who have been afflicted by the abyssal flora or those who require general healing. The place it is set for now is along the Chionthar towards Ulgoth's.

The call reaches out for Goodly Faiths to aid in this endeavor.
