Profile

Full name: Joneleth Ebonwolfe
Age: 33
Race: Human (Ethnicity: Damaran)
Sex: Male
Date of birth: 23rd of Hammer, 1328 DR (The Year of the Adorned Elvenblade)
Place of birth: outskirts of Lyrabar, Impiltur
Alignment: Neutral Good
Patron deity: Mystra
Profession: Ranger of Mystra; Monster Hunter
Classes: Ranger
Primary language: Common (native)
Secondary languages: Elven – Picked up through years working alongside Tel’Quessir allies and the arcane traditions associated with the Order of the Shooting Star. Joneleth has limited language aptitude but made this a priority due to its relevance in magical and wilderness circles.

Physical description:
Joneleth is a rugged man with piercing green eyes that seem to scan constantly for danger. His hair is dark brown, sun-bleached at the edges and streaked from years spent beneath the open sky, with the earliest hints of gray at the temples. Broad-shouldered and battle-hardened, he carries the solid, weathered strength of a man who hunts monsters up close. He is more akin to the giant-slayers of legend than to nimble woodscouts. Jagged scars mark his torso and forearms, reminders of clawed demons and infernal brands burned into his flesh and later purified through Mystran rituals.

He dresses plainly in dark, earth-toned leather armor and cloaks suitable for quiet movement in forest and hill terrain - practical, durable, and unadorned. His weapons are well-maintained but show signs of long use. He carries a shortbow and two blades, depending on the terrain, and wears a symbol of Mystra tucked beneath his tunic. His demeanor is calm and cautious, with the intensity of one who has tracked monsters alone for days at a time.

Psychological description:
Joneleth is stoic, methodical, and blunt. He speaks little and prefers action to words. His sense of justice is shaped by pragmatism and doctrine: kill the demon, banish the undead, safeguard the Weave. He’s not unkind, but lacks charm, often misreading social nuance or overstepping boundaries with tactical efficiency. Emotionally scarred from years of battling darkness, he keeps people at arm’s length and suppresses personal desires for the greater cause.

He has a deep sense of duty to protect others from the horrors he has seen - demons, possessed spellcasters, and corrupted magic. His moral compass is strong, shaped by personal loss and a belief in individual action over law or doctrine. He finds comfort in structure (watch rotations, coded signals, memorized prayers) and discomfort in festivals, romance, or improvisation. He reads treatises on magic theory and monster anatomy in his downtime and has an odd fondness for old bard tales, especially tragic ones.

Religious views:
Joneleth is a devout servant of Mystra, not as a spellcaster, but as a ranger who believes in safeguarding the natural flow of magic. He reveres the Weave as part of Faerûn's lifeblood and believes that all who use magic should wield it responsibly. He fights not only creatures of fang and claw but those who would twist magic toward unnatural ends.

His membership in the Order of the Shooting Star binds him to the divine will of Mystra through wilderness vigilance, while his cooperation with members of the Sword of the Arcane Order ensures that his martial and arcane allies are informed, coordinated, and protected in their efforts to preserve balance.

He may offer quiet respect to Selûne or Lathander, especially when traveling in dangerous territory, but his heart belongs to Mystra.
As a ranger, he upholds her tenets by:
• Guarding magical sites and artifacts
• Rooting out magical corruption and extraplanar threats
• Respecting the balance between arcane, divine, and natural forces

Biography

Family
• Father: Maerion Ebonwolfe – A retired Impilturan battlemage, presumed dead during a failed planar expedition.
• Mother: Thalira Ebonwolfe – A former scribe of the Hall of Records in Lyrabar; still living in relative seclusion.
• Siblings: None known. Joneleth was raised an only child.
• Family Status: Estranged Father, Unknown Fate

"My mother never spoke his name. Said he left chasing stars and never came back. Some say he went west. Others say he never left the Abyss."

Joneleth rarely speaks of his family, though he sends coin to his mother annually. He resents his father’s obsession with magic for power's sake, a cautionary tale that shaped his own path.

History
Joneleth came of age in the borderlands of Impiltur, a land haunted by the remnants of infernal pacts and generations of mistrust. Without family or name, he became a solitary hunter by necessity, but his first true calling came when he encountered a corrupted druid channeling abyssal power into the land. The horror of that moment and the trail of blighted animals and dying flora left him shaken.

He soon met a ranger of Mystra’s Order of the Shooting Star, who saw potential in his resilience and guided him into training. Joneleth embraced a new path, not merely hunting for food or gold, but defending Faerûn from creatures that threatened its balance, especially those that desecrated magic.

For over a decade, Joneleth hunted demons, aberrations, and rogue casters from the Earthfast Mountains to the Dalelands. Though not arcane himself, he became a respected scout and escort to Mystra’s agents and Sword of the Arcane Order mages. Now, hearing of trouble on the Sword Coast, particularly unnatural surges of magic and demonic artifacts—he travels westward to investigate.

Future
Joneleth hunts three things:
1. Demonic influence disguised behind political power or cults.
2. Corrupt spellcasters abusing the Weave.
3. The truth of his father’s fate, and whether he succumbed to what he once fought.

In the Western Heartlands, he seeks to root out the cause of rising magical instability and dismantle it before it spreads. If possible, he wishes to found or rebuild a Mystra-aligned guild.

He does not plan to settle. Not yet.

Heirloom item
1. Hunter’s Scarred Badge – A weathered brooch awarded by a Shooting Star warden.
2. Steelwood Bowstring – A salvaged relic from a fallen mentor’s bow.
3. Weathered Cloak of the Stars – A nondescript travel cloak woven with silver thread bearing the shape of Mystra’s symbol.

Plot hooks
1. Planar Trail – Joneleth is hunting a demonbound warlock who vanished westward. Rumors place them near Baldur’s Gate, posing as a legitimate mage.
2. Blasphemous Inheritance – A former companion-turned-enemy is said to be wielding an artifact of immense demonic origin once sealed in Impiltur. Joneleth must destroy it… or die trying.
3. A Mage’s Regret – A young mage under Joneleth’s past protection has gone missing in the city, last seen consorting with those who sell stolen spells.
Baudwyn Brionne: Lorekeeper of the Fallen

"He can recall epic songs in moments, is welcome far and near, and people gladly share with him gossip and legend. Only fools look upon him and see 'just' a bard."
— Princess Alusair Nacacia Obarskyr
