Open Shrine to Siamorphe

Unread post by Tantive »

Shrine of Siamorphe as attached to the Mansion of the House of Lord Vale

Within the House of Lord Vale exist a larger shrine open to folk of both common and noble origin to come for advice and counsel and hear the word of Siamorphe (Sigh-a-morf), the Goddess of Nobility. It has been staffed by a personal friend and Scion of Siamorphe, who's been a guest at the Noble Lord's mansion for more then a year now.

The symbol most commonly associated, as seen by the shrine and its adherents is a silver chalice, emblazened by a sun on its side.

The questions that lay afore good governance have been opened up by the Divine Right, here are scrolls able to be studied and talked about.
King's Vow

The beloved king sat poised upon his mortal throne, with his hand clutched to his ancestral sword. His eyes cast down bewildered to the man before him, for it was the first time they truly opened. He asked the man, Why am I your king? The man did not lift his head, as he spoke Because your father was our king before you my liege. That did not satisfy the king, so he asked again Why am I your king? Because the father of your father was our king. And so the king asked until all his ancestors were known to him, but still his question remained unsated. Thine father was not a herald, and his father before . Why have my fathers fathers always been king?

The king left his palace to seek out his most holy priest within the temple. Once more the king asked the holy priest the question. Priest, why am I your king? Because the gods favoured you and fate ordained it so my liege, said the priest. The king confounded asked the priest, Then why aren't thou the king, when the gods align the fates to thine favoured words? I have no answer my liege. The king left the temple, having received no answer to his question.

The king sought out a rich man, known far and wide for his abundance, and the king asked Why am I your king? Because you taste of the wealth of everyone my liege, so there is no limit to what you can acquire, the rich man said. The king confused asked, If my abundance makes me king, why have the people not bought the throne? The richman could not answer, thus he was given leave by the king.

A sellsword was called to the king, the strongest warrior the lands had known. He humbled himself before the King and was asked, Why am I your king? Because you are mighty my liege, the mightiest of the land and have earned the right. The king rose from the throne and drew his sword. You who have bested all his enemies, the mightiest sword of the realm, defeat me and you would be king. The sellsword kept his sword sheathed, lowering his head. The king lowered his sword and asked, Why does thou show me deference, when thou could be king? I do not know my liege, the sellsword said.

Right of Rule

There are four ends buried within a right. The rights granted to you by the mere act of being born, those granted to us by the gods and those awarded to you by a governing body for mere participation within the polity. The fourth, and the most ephemeral is the concession of responsibilities from one over to the other, by choice.

Divine Right

In Siamorphen tradition, the rule that allows one to rule and keep at rule dictates that one must keep themselves fit to the task, despite personal objections coming in the way. Why may you rule when others do not? Because they are only allowed to if they do it well with the people in mind they would rule over. It is a stable governance, with strict inheritance rules, with peace over the realm which flourishes the lives of its people. Stay out of ways that would strip the realm of its peace, as it leaves the lands open to invasion both foreign and domestic. Avoid civil war when you have other methods to depose errant and wayward kings.

A second scroll was released, recorded less in layman terms in language of common. For the more literate it could be assumed.
Right of Rule

Since the daybreak of man from tribes to kingdom there were exemplar among its peoples whose rule were thrust upon and entrusted to do it well. They stand apart from the tyrants and warlords who use force to elevate their position over their subjects. The difference in reception is as the night and the day, and that of Gods.

On closer examination, one might say that both methods rely on the threat of reprisal if you were to attempt to disrupt the structure of power that is established, the moment a defined leader is to rule over other men. But to remain only with that shallow understanding is to be blind to a most Holy of Covenant made between men under the Gods.

The Covenant of Rulership is sacred under Siamorphe, for at its center sits a trade of privileges and responsibilities. How is one to understand this? Why are some men considered equal while others are not? What is being valued in these invisible scales are the weights of responsibility. Each man or woman has a responsibility to themselves that endows one's life with accorded rights. To voluntarily offer these responsibilities over to another is to offer an equal amount of rights in the same accord, granting the privileges of a ruling class.

This burdened gift is offered only when there is a trust in the covenant. As it is a gift, it cannot be taken. A tyrant cannot take this gift, they will try to convince you to relinquish it by fear, intimidation, threats of harm to yourself and to others. Most relinquish or squander the gift out of ease, an abdication of responsibilities, they do not care for the inherent burdens. The false need the gift free of its responsibilities, the helpless covet the gift for its privileges, the wise fear the gift of the covenant for its power.

A raven joins the priestess, a newfound pet that keeps the noble lady company. With her return from her trade trip along the tradeway offering Wands of various sorts, crafted and blessed by the priestess herself, the Scion of Siamorphe now can be seen reading the book titled: The Common Threat - A Perfedious Cause. A two part book series centered around a response and refutation of another book named Common Cause written by Rhaeg, representative of the commons.

It is expected the priestess is to offer an addressing on the subject of Rhaeg in his literature, be it in written or spoken.

A miracle

Unread post by Tantive »

⬧︎ A miracle happened within the city of Baldur's Gate, Siamorphe was rumoured to have made an appearance to the Shrine in Lord Vale's Estate. ⬧︎

While word could have exaggerated the tale from one mouth to the next, that she appeared in full form, instead Her voice filled the shrine, speaking to the lone priestess in duty at prayer. Bestowed upon the Scion was a gift, just before the presence of the Patroness, the Noble Lady of the Divine Right left the priestess alone in the shrine with a purpose to be fulfilled.

Siamorphe, a deity that has mostly held a prevalence in the city of Waterdeep, but has been made more popular in recent years at court because of Lord Vale's continued service to The Gate, now seems to have cast an eye at the events unfolding that have taken a hold upon its people.

The script was legible in a script type a common person should find easy enough to read. A trend set for those interested in Siamorphe, that have difficulty to read or understand scripture. Charisa Flomeigne, Scion of Siamorphe prepared a host of documents for the people able to take home with them.

These copied documents are freely able to be take along a scroll home to disseminate and read at their leisure.

⬧︎The Sacred Covenant between peoples⬧︎

No soul is made noble by a throne, no soul becomes worthless without one. The noble ruler sees themselves in these words. "The crown is not mine, but theirs. I wear it for them. Should they ask it returned, I must find worth in my soul beyond gold or title."

The commoner makes the concession "I entrust to you my welfare, as long as your are fit to bear it." From a leader out to a crowned king, the right of concession is that the people, by mutual trust and free will, entrust their leader--king with their lives, their peace and their hopes. In remembrance for the commoner, that even though birth may grant a crown and the gods may cast favors, neither shall long endure without the willing heart of those who dwell beneath it.

If the king is unfit, the people may withdraw their concession, and the right dissolves. What this entails is that in order to maintain the peace of a society, avoid the threat of civil unrest and a threat of war, both domestic and of abroad, the kings, the nobles and the leaders from even the tiniest group, must be at all times be aware of the covenant. As it is much harder to build, then it is to destroy, successions are orderly in inheritance, for all the easy it is to debase to instincts seen in the wilds even between the confines of protective walls.

Let not the walls become a prison, but again a bulwark for the lawful, merciful, dutiful and the bountiful to sow their seeds within the civilisation, so it may endure beyond any realm, beyond any kingdom.

For many it has been an unspoken rule, but it is a divine act in motion, whenever one has entrusted another in a responsibility they themselves do not undergo. It is divine in nature, it is divine in cosmology, it is divine when it occurs. Each commoner knows, when a leader has been noble towards them. The children see it in their parents, the farmer can see it in their landlord. And when one bows, it is never to be done forcefully. When an act is noble, you'll find it is more then voluntary to bow. Reverence is not demanded, it is natural.

"When an act is noble, you'll find it is more then voluntary to bow. The soul inclines before it knows the knee has bent. For nobility needs no herald, no trumpet, no crown --- it reveals itself in deed and answers before minds awaken. To bow before true grace is not submission, but a kinship.

You shall know true nobility when you bow without command, without fear, and without thought of reward. The body follows the heart, and the heart bends before rightousness. In such moments, power is not wielded but revealed --- and the crown rest not on the head but in their act. Do not ask to who kneels to whom. Ask only what is being knelt to.

An additional set of scrolls come available, one examining the traditions accustomed in noble circles, and the expectancies becoming or unbecoming of those in a lower status.

The custom of prostration and the bow.
Why do we bow and kneel before nobility?

Because we humble ourselves to that which is noble. Our eyes rise toward the ideal — and our bodies lower themselves in reverence. When one is humbled by a noble act, souls bend ere the knees do. "Where nobility is real, reverence follows as water flows downhill."

The implicit question was asked, what one may have done to be deserving a noble gesture towards thee, with the answer being the act always has been a divine gesture beyond mortal weight. This holds true even from mortal to god.

"To be noble is not to be above judgment, but to welcome it — for only the soul laid bare to thee may rule justly.”

The sins of contempt against ones soul.

"To be ignoble is to consider oneself beyond ones reproach, to seal oneself against judgement. Mistaking authority for virtue, ones dignity for pride of self aggrandisement, once's grace for vanity and unexamined superiority. And they will consider your helping hand as beneath them. It is the pathway to hell.

Why do men resent to bow against Tyranny?

For to bow to false nobility is to raise a false ideal. A noble that does not humble themselves to an ideal better then themselves, think themselves an ideal, thus will in time become a false noble. To remain noble is to know you shall always be found wanting against the ideal, and to bear that judgment with grace.
