Reviving an old idea
Hello, community.
With my return and my plate being entirely empty, I want to start out by gauging interest in an old idea of mine from 2018.
The New Adventurer Party.
I tried to get this going, as mentioned, in 2018, but couldn't make it work. And then I tried to gauge interest again in 2021, though I ended up with too much on my plate and couldn't run it. But I want to prioritise this now, if there is interest in it.
Now, I won't do it as extensive as I intended at first in 2018. That was a bit too ambitious for a pilot run, I think. So instead of 10-12 sessions and going up to level 15, I would aim for 5 sessions and going up to around level 10. I also need to do an entirely different plot, as the plans I had written down back then no longer exist. The rules would otherwise be the same, of course, and the whole idea would be that the plot happened somewhere outside of standard server areas.
So before I start making plans around this, give the old thread a read and let me know if people are interested in something like this. In order to keep a relatively coherent party, I would also ask that it would either be neutral-to-good or neutral-to-evil. I can set up the premise of a good story story in either of those directions, but for a first attempt at this, I'd rather not deal with too many party-internal conflicts. But I'd need to know what to plan for, so raise a hand and let me know what sort of direction you'd prefer, if you are interested.
I should also note it does need to conform to my own availability. I am in Norway, so my availability is largely European evenings in the week, with a bit more flexibility in the weekends.

I love the idea of this. I have no interest in being a part of it, but I love the idea for others who wish to be.

Oh man that sounds fun, I'd so be up for it but that time zone depending might hurt my sleep hours give or take how long sessions last lol. But I suspect this is more so a warm up for the DM and some good ol fashion "lets get back to basics" lol

Conditional yes from me. Timeslots could be an issue, of course, and the plot might need to shape up a bit before I have a clue what kind of PC to run, but it's always been an interesting idea and I'm even a little sad to see it downscaled.

Re: Reviving an old idea
Happy to postpone until after summer, if that makes people more likely to want to participate. I realise vacation times are coming up.
I'm glad there's some interest already though, so I'll try to work on a relatively general outline. But I'd also be interested in whether you guys want a good-leaning or an evil-leaning campaign, so I have something to work with. I know some people prefer one or the other, so I'd rather conform to that preference this time if it makes more people interested, than simply make a decision now and thus dispel the interest of those with such preference.
EDIT: I am also actually fine extending the story into up to 10 sessions (and thus a higher level range towards the end), if that makes more people interested.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's a lot of interest. I'll try again later.

I think ppl some ppl had pulled back on activity to see what happens after the release of Nwn2 EE. I myself has been bit on reserve hesitant to get into anything serious because of it.

Re: Reviving an old idea
After the release and reinstalling everything, it might be a good time to prepare everything in the background?

Postponing until after summer might work better , or at least after NWN2 EE comes out .

Might also be good to draw some attention to this thread in Discord. Some people I'd have expected interest from have simply not replied; I suspect they never noticed it, because they hardly seem to wander out of the IC forums (if they use the forums at all).
Zeikari's seeming indifference, for instance, strikes me as unusual.

Re: Reviving an old idea
Hey!
Lol
Well, I mean, I was actually meaning to post, as I do like the idea. I just don't know if I'll have the time. But sure, I would be interested, if schedule allows. I can go either way when it comes to Good/Evil party. When it comes to the setting, would it still be set in Turmish, or would it be possible to suggest other potential regions of focus (provided that they're not too extreme, since the idea is to get the pcs to BG eventually...)?

Undecided yet. Wouldn't be the same story premise either way, as I'd have to make that up from scratch. So I'm happy to take geographical suggestions.

Re: Reviving an old idea
That is good to know, thanks!
When it comes to the hours, I am fine with the timezone; the primary concern that I have which stopped me from signing up is that usually DM events take place on the weekend, and since, at least for now, I have a couple of pcs already involved in ongoing plots, I didn't want to say yes, and then be unable to actually attend due to previous engagements.
Then again, it's very possible that, in a few months, either or both may have resolved or toned down, in which case, I'd love to participate!

Re: Reviving an old idea
Just to not forget this one, I still really, really, want to run this. But I'm going to let it sit for a little bit until we know what things look like after NWN2EE release. I'll perhaps write a more consise proposal for it in August and then maybe we'll get started on the actual campaign in September. That should give people some expectation of time-frame here.
I hope you guys want to join in on this. It's certainly a kind of thing I myself would have loved to be part of playerside. Here's hoping this is a success and maybe other DMs get inspired to try something similar!
