[ Crafting ] Favorite games with crafting

I never really got into crafting in a lot of games, but I think the best crafting systems don't involve "slog".

You should be able to find an item and say "oh cool, I can craft X with this item". Instead of saying "oh... I can process this item into X plank and then Y nailed planks and then Z supreme nailed planks, and then I can make an item".

The latter tends to fill me with dread and makes me avoid the crafting system. The former is ok. It's still crafting, but it's the least offensive type of crafting.

Process chains suck, unless you are playing a game all about process chains (which RPGs are decidedly not).

A lot of people are returning due to the EE announcement so there is an element of grace that can be afforded to necromancy at this time. The thread isn't so dead that additional input or opinions are misplaced, given recent crafting discussions. Carry on.
