*A song started to echo throughout the small town of Gullykin: a well-known feathered hat would be spotted among the people, but she wasn't alone! A gorgeous woman with a long purple dress was playing and singing alongside her! It may be only speculation, but some hins would swear they spotted the wyvern dancing at their tune!*

In a realm where darkness veiled the light,
A tyrant's rule, a never-ending night,
He preyed upon the helpless, the weak, and the meek,
A shadowy Lord, his motives were bleak.

From the shadows he schemed, his power grew vast,
The people's suffering would not be his last,
But whispers of change began to swarm,
As a storm of rebellion started to form.

Oh, the tyrant's reign, it won't persist,
We'll unite as one, in justice we insist,
Breaking the chains of his vile endeavor,
In the end, he'll face justice forever.

In the depths of secrecy, his schemes did unfold,
His wicked commands, his stories untold,
But heroes emerged, with courage so bold,
To unveil his corruption, to expose the cold.

In the heart of the night, they rose against fear,
Their purpose clear, their mission sincere,
With valor in their hearts, they'd break the facade,
To reveal the truth and shatter the fraud.

Oh, the tyrant's reign, it won't persist,
We'll unite as one, in justice we insist,
Breaking the chains of his vile endeavor,
In the end, he'll face justice forever.

The trial was set, the evidence amassed,
The tyrant's reign would not forever last,
The people's voice, their demand for peace,
Would finally make the darkness cease.

In the courtroom's hush, the truth did unfurl,
The tyrant's crimes, a sinister whirl,
The people's will, a thunderous storm,
As justice prevailed, a new world was born.

The verdict was cast, his sentence severe,
For the countless souls he'd caused to tear,
With unity, their purpose became warmer,
They proclaimed, "We've put a Dent in his armor!"

Oh, the tyrant's reign, it will persist no more,
As a united front, justice we restore,
Breaking the chains of his wicked endeavor,
In the end, he'll face justice forever.

Though the tyrant still lingers in his domain,
The people's resolve would never wane,
For a trial was prepped to make him see,
The consequences of his tyranny.

Marchwarden's Gift

During the small hours of the morning, a lone but familiar halfling in a brown and gold coat makes his way into the village, leading a heavily laden pack pony, heading towards "gadget's" Workshop and setting up his stand. Small, carefully wrapped bundles for each village member awaited recovery. Each bundle set aside contained a fine cotton travel cloak that seemed to shimmer and shift its colour with the surrounding environment. A pair of golden bracers went along with each cloak, providing a shimmering shield of magical force capable of turning aside blades and bows.

"My gentle hin, my name is Oleander Stonehearth, as many of you may know. You've all been kind enough to welcome me into your community despite the trouble oft brought by adventuring folk. By way of thanks to you all for this welcome, and in honor of the wary sword, I have arranged a gift for each of you. It is my hope these items will help better protect our community in times of trouble. That we need never see a repeat of the disaster at Murkshire."

Stepping down from his soapbox, Oleander sets about awarding a parcel to each of the halfling villagers who approach him. Resolving to deliver those packages left unclaimed by lunch.

With the onset of the new season, Gullykin has a new guest: Jalavi, the hin from the Anauroch and the Fallen lands, has asked for permission to pitch her tent on the edge of the settlement and use it as a base for her scout and caravan guard services.

It is rumored that the once Tiefling Vice Archon of the Myradon Vindicators Na'Karia has been seen in and around Gullykins Temple of Kossuth more recently. Halflings that ask her where the "shiny badge" went are given the reply:

"I'm undeserving of it. For one who brings more pain than comfort, it's best for me to find a new path. Though I'm not sure where to start now. I just know...there is a wrong I need to right, but I lack the strength and resolve to face it."

Firewalk at the Temple

A petitioner arrived at the Kossuth’s temple near Gullykin. He claimed to be a devotee from the ranks of Burning Braziers and to have travelled from a distant land. All doubts in regard to his claims seemed to be cleared as he underwent firewalking unscathed and demonstrated supernatural control over the fire element that was seen as a blessing of the Lord of Flames by the priest. The man is also rumoured to have made contact with a certain Kossuth-worshipping monk and together the two spent a night by a lit brazier, praying to their deity and contemplating how to further the goals of the Firelord and his temple on the Sword Coast.

At the top of the Temple, some days after her return, the halflings of Gullykin would see a tiefling woman praying to her god. On the winter winds one should one get closer to the temple, they would hear the following:

"O Lord of Flames, hear my voice. Grace your sacred temple with flames that persist through the coldest of winters. Preserve thy flames of your devoted followers, so that we might continue your work. Grant thy devoted followers the flames needed to dispel the chills of winter, and allow those who seek refuge from the bitter cold to rest in thy Holy Temple."

One would soon smell the scent of aromatic resins and fine oils drift through the winter air. Should one walk up the hill to where the prayer was coming from, they would find the Flamesister leave gems such as Garnets, Citrines and Topazes on the Alter to Kossuth before bowing her head once they prayer was over.

Maelyn Cloudcreek came home to Gullykin, back to the cozy glow of Yondalla’s Cornucopia. No sooner had she stepped inside than she was spinning tales over a well-earned pint, regaling her fellow hins with the grand adventures she had alongside the longlegs. Would you believe it, a simple priest of the Hearthkeeper, standing against demons and helping to free Ulgoth’s Beard! She told of the moment she was dragged under, gurgling and choking on unholy water, the vile stuff searing her throat as she struggled. Bubbling beneath the surface, she thought her tale was over—until a strong hand pulled her free. Whether it was the truth or just a good tale with extra seasoning, she never let a mug go empty while she told it.

Rumors in the halfling village murmur about a display of swirling lights on top of the Kossuthan temple with one lone tiefing praying at an alter early in the mornings. Those who step close enough to the location would hear a prayer being spoken on the morning winds.

O Kossuth, Lord of Flames, guard these lands from the dark gaze of Pale Night. Let her corruption and twisted whispers never fall upon the souls within and near your holy temple. Let the warmth and light of your flames cleanse and purify our souls, to guid us true upon your path. Grace your loyal followers with the courage and wisdom to burn away the temptations of those who reside in the dark, and speak lies on poisoned tongues.

The evening of the 11th of Flamerule is one of merriment and festivity in Gullykin as the village is treated to an immense feast by it's resident Homefellow. A considerable selection of food, drinks and treats freely available to all who enter the tavern that eve.

Hearty stews, soups and many a kind of bread, potatoes, pies, rootvegetables, poultry, roasts, sausages, a variety of meats and fish prepared in different manners - marinated and grilled, smoked or simply as part of aforementioned stews, pies and soups. The cheese table was particularly popular amongst the villagers, it's wonderful wide spread of both imported cheeses and some more commonly known ones to the people present, such as Orthin and a rather large wheel of Arabellan Cheddar, were quickly picked apart by the cheese enthusiasts.

Image

For dessert, large trays filled with delicious freshly baked goods were carried in one by one and passed around over the busy tables. Cinnamon buns, jam-layered honeycakes, blueberry, strawberry- and apple-pies, chocolate chip- and other various kinds of cookies on offer to those who hadn't already eaten themselves into a near comatose state yet.

Image

Belbuck beer, Luiren's Best stout, Blue Eyes-wine and Rivengut whiskey aplenty was had afterwards, the drinkhappy folk of the burrows merrily singing songs while the more musically inclined (and less drunk) brought out instruments to join in. The tables were emptied and moved along with the chairs towards the walls to make room for the joyous people to dance throughout the night.

Image

The exhausted Homefellow Wisica quietly sat herself down on a chair in a corner of the tavern after having been nonstop serving and caring for the needs of the townsfolk all evening, a content smile on her lips as she looked over the people of Gullykin, raising a glass of her own to take a long sip of Belbuck, the familiar and pleasant spearmint-like taste eliciting a relaxed sigh from the diminutive woman. An odd sense of pride filled her, seeing her people like this - in spite of the troubled times that plagued the Realms. She whispered a quiet prayer to Cyrrollalee, hoping She was watching. That those who didn't survive the trip - those mere few years ago - to this place were watching. And if not, that they could feel it. Feel the sense of community, of family.

This warmth.
