Was heading back to the Wide, since it wasn't night out, I decided to cut through the Heapside. Should of known I run into scums, whole place filled with them. Seen a male and female tiefling cornering a halfling woman. They didnt see me close in from behind, but once I got into ear shot the woman tiefling was cursing the Watch. The Hin seen me coming and was quick to run off. The male continued to draw his City Watch creation, with a large phallus for a head passing gas. Soon as the two tieflings realize I was upon them, they shook in their boots. Was like catching a warfs hands in someone's pocket. Guilt written all over their fiendish faces. The male suddenly was quick to toss a piece of charcoal of his shoulders. Caught them red handed, but I'm just a recruit, I can only uphold the law, I couldn't enforce it. Lucky them.
They gave me their names, likely fake, but talked them long enough for me to get familiarize with their physical description. They surely was a pair of idiots, couldn't even lie straight, couldnt even get their stories straight. I spoke them some, reciting the exact crime they committed and the punishment's warrant for such crimes. Even the one about harming cats because there was a cap nipping at the heels of the woman. She surely didn't look like she's bathed in over a few tendays, smell must have attracted the street cat. But she was trying shoo it away.
Vandalism- will result in fines, with further punishment of the loss of fingers, in cases of repeated offense.
Harming of Cats - is punishable by imprisonment, public service, or transmutation to feline form for a predetermined time or until the lesson is learned, as decreed by judicial ruling.
If I wasnt a recruit, I'd surely throw in Withheld Identity, and Vagrancy just to make sure something sticks.
I had overheard the male telling the halfling that the Watch kicked down his door. Thats the thing about scums, nothing but lies comes out their mouths. We never kicked down any doors , we knocked. And given the look of these two, they look like they haven't had a home in years much less able to afford a room in the lowest Inn's.
I sent them off, there wasnt anymore I could do. Still a recruit. I looked at the crude drawing on the wall a bit. It actually made me smile given its derogatory statement. In my eyes, it just shows I'm doing my job effective enough that it's ruffling their feathers. Yeah let these people keep huffing and puffing, let them get mad, let them keep spitting on the Watch, all they doing is revealing the filthy scums they are. Their hateful words doesn't even bother me. Not when Upper city residence like Charisa Flomeigne, or Nadine Ravenwood or other citizens praise the good work I do. Don't matter how long it takes, I'm going to make sure this whole city learns to respect the City Watch, and remember who the real City Guards are. It's for their own damn ...good.

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."
It's been awhile since my last entry. Things picked up and I had been busy. Busy investigating the ones responsible for these cult murderers that was killing the commoners in the Lower City. Finally had a break thanks to one of our own. She went over all the investigative files from the former Captain Barns. Had some interesting details. That man was surely on to the Cult. A man doing his job, a man that cared for the citizens, no matter what part of the city. Damn shame he was forced to step down. No thanks to those commons that was too blind to see the truth in things. They were right, there had been some watchers abusing power, but they generalized all of us. I learned that through my investigation. As well as other things I'm not sure how to go about it. In my heart I know the right thing to do, but its about doing it properly. If I mess this up, things are going to get bad, real bad.
Things are not over, but I am not sure who I can trust. Far all I know, I could end up speaking to the very threat. What the Matron told me..I cant even speak of it. Not out in the open. I seen how that shadow attack that woman, came out of nowhere, as if it was lurking behind her the entire time. I wonder if I can get a meeting with the General, not sure I trust this new Captain at all. Something dont sit right. Somethings off..and I got a gut feeling what it is. Things are just difficult as a recruit, but I was satisfied the previous night. We did just what I been saying we had to do. Show the people that no one was above the law. We are the authorities, we are the ones upholding and enforcing the laws of Baldur's and the citizens got their clear reminders. But I still see a lot that don't respect that. In time that too will change, and we will have law and order in this city. Even if we need to lock up every criminal one at a time.

It's been awhile since I had the time to open my journal. Wearing the Uniform of the Watch has its moments. With so little that I am able to do, I try to make the best of what I can do. I think I have placed an inspiration within the ranks of other recruits, I've notice theres been an increase of Watchers presence around the the Upper City to include the Wide. It's appealing to see more uniform presence. It may be a slow progress but its progress non the less. I continue my rounds, my duty with pride. I continue to be a man firm with the hand of the law.
Still..I wonder what threats are outside of the grand walls of our city. I've seen reports of the Demon Horde, talks in the Helm and Cloaks are evident that the threat still remains. News that the Dukes want to end the threat was spread wide throughout the city, but can it really be done? Such thoughts are my thoughts, but my focus is within the city. After all it's what I signed up for. I rather be concerned of the place I call home before I go worrying about the troubles beyond it. As long as I wear this uniform, my concern will always be and only be the city of Baldur's Gate.
*Norin glances through the gap underneath the door of the Outpost, realizing the evening hours has fallen upon the city. He closes his journal then tucks it away on his person then grabs his helm lantern. A stern nod given to the other Watcher before he stepped out into the night. He's break was over, it was time to patrol again.*

Just one of those days, had stopped some halfling that looked like it came out from some bushes in the farmlands. Was a cheeky little runt but once I started reminding them of the laws, they shaped up. Had another incident of another man heading into the city. The man thought he could ignore the law. Not on my watch. Lucky for him the Fist lead me to him before the higher ups took the case. Would have been a whole different experience for the vagrant. Dont see why folks just dont comply with the law. It's in place for the betterment of the people. They ought to go living in places like Soubar or Roaringshore where their is no laws if lawlessness is what they like.
I know visitors need to be treated respectfully because likely they bring commerce or coins to the city. But nothing wrong in simply giving their name and stating their business. After all we just need to look after the place we call our home. I knew this job was going to take me on the long ride. But it beats doing dock work. Hated having to go after the man in the Lower city. Dont like going there without a partner. That whole place filled with scum and whiny commoners that dont know whats in the best interest for them. Other Watchmens already had problems down in the docks with the crewmen on a ship. Theres still the Captain of that ship still at large. But I aint going to the docks alone without other watchmen.

I had woken late after a long night of patrols. But I still manage to arrive at the Wide to see the "Festival of Hope" near concluded. I wasn't too worried since the Wide was already heavily patrolled by other Watchmen. It seem in these dire days, Hope is something to grasp by the people specially after talks and reports about a coming threat as deadly as the Pale Night. Many citizens have been talking about it, some even had rioted because of suspicion on whos responsible for it. The Mask Theater's Director was said to have been banished. Part of me is not even really surprised, the woman was a tiefling after all. My recruiter was right, never trust those fiends.
Almost had an Incident before the Festival was over. Seen two strange Sheppard dogs, which appeared highly intelligent other than one barked strangely. Having not been at the Festival when it began I surely didn't know if these dogs were someone's summon companions or polymorphed people. I stated the law about Summoned Companions being forbidden within the City. Some elf male green of hair approached and got all fussy mentioning he considered our laws stupid. I don't care of his opinion of the laws of our City, only that he follows them. And if he doesn't, well there's always plenty of room in the Prison for those that choose to not abide by the Laws of Baldur's Gate.
Luckily the former City Watchmen Sir Sean gave a full explanation that the two dogs were merely people that changed shape for use to entertain the children. Such a thing isn't against the laws of the City. As a former Watchmen, the man surely knows how to respond properly. It's not hard, we are men and woman in uniform that have rules and regulations and standards to follow. We live by law and order. Why other people cant seem to comprehend that is beyond me. As a man in uniform I want to hear facts not peoples opinions. I keep my opinions to myself. I don't allow them to interfere with my judgment. I'll save my opinions when I'm off duty. And so long as I wear this uniform, I will always help uphold the law and remind people of it. If they don't wish to abide by the laws, well there's always room in the City Watch Prison for scum.

*As the moon hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over the cobbled streets of Baldur's Gate, the City Watchmen moved about his nightly patrols. Clad in the familiar uniform of the Guard, complete with their iconic cloaks and gleaming insignia, he kept a vigilant eye on the restless city. His breath plumed in the cool night air, each exhale a small reminder of the life pulsing within the city's ancient walls. Tonight, the thoughts of the Watchmen drifted to the recent rumors and decided to take a moment in one of the many watch towers to write in his journal.*
Demons gone Demons coming, assassinations, attempted assassinations, vagrants, murders, dying causes, suspicious nobles set free, rebuilding of Ulgoths Beard, people banished from the City. Stuff never ends. And the Citadel still tackling reports and complaints. Some complaints worth looking into, others are just a waste of time. Some people report the silliest stuff. Most likely out of entertainment if not stupidity. After I was off duty last night, I went to the Helm and Cloak to drink a few rounds for the fallen Watchmens and the Flaming Fist. Those are hero's in my eyes. Real Men and Woman that took up the cloak and served in the name of Duty and Law Enforcement for our City. They didn't risk their lives for recognition, or for any reward. They died on the call of duty. Makes me more proud to wear my uniform.
Surprise it's not raining tonight. Coast weather normally shite, guess the Gods decided to give everybody a break. Might be a good time to request for more street lamps. Too many dark areas and corners, might help reduce the population of scums that lurk in the dark waiting to cause trouble. Haven't had any incident of late, I consider that a good thing in my book. Wonder if I will ever get a promotion. I haven't thought of it much of late, seems like a far reach. By gods, even my recruiter had to wait over nine years for his promotion. I wont snivel about it, I'll continue doing my job and keep submitting in my reports. If anyone is going to do the job right, it damn sure going to be me. Wonder if more scum is going to get locked up. I doubt we can hold rioters for too long. Well I better get back on my patrol, the city is large, I cant cover it in a single day nor a single night.

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."
Interesting night it been. The most busy in some time. Was met by a noble woman of House Flomeigne, inquiring about a child kidnapping case and some undead involvement. Seems the followers of the God of Death has some information or knows much about the incident. Going to have to find out who they are and get some answers. Crime is crime, its not suppose to be tolerated in this city, but the worst kind is one that involves children. Such criminals need to be served the harshest punishment of the law. We had a lot to discuss however. The noblewoman seemed concerned about the well being of the city, specially in regards to the Commons. I told her, I personally got no love for the Common Militia because of what they did to our Captain. Bunch of scum just like the rest of the Lower City in my opinion. But like the Captain taught me, regardless they are still "our" citizens. And our job is maintain law and order within Baldur's. This woman must had just recently returned, she had no clue about the talks of the Mother of Demons. She damn well nearly turned pale as a ghost at the mention of it.
I explained to her nearly all of my reports spanning back to a full year. From unsolved murders, to how the Commons Militia was obstructing official business, and the attempted attack on the matron of the Everwinter Estates. She asked me if I believed if the Commons Militia's leader was the one responsible for the attempted at Netanyas life. As much as I rather see that man rotting in a cell, I put my feelings to the side and explained that I do not suspect he was the one responsible. Yes there could be motive due to the fact they didnt like each other. But there wasnt enough evidence, nor does the man seem the type for such an act. Not his style from my observation. Does it mean the Commons are all upright citizens? Not a damn chance in hell. They got their dirt, their still vagrants and got no business trying to arm themselves when their hatred for nobility is clear on their faces. It's quite funny to me, when your an unfortunate soul, you blame everyone around you except yourself when you think of your unfortunate predicament. How about get off your backside and work hard like the rest of us and stop playing the blame game and make something of your life positively. Jealousy because others have a bigger coin purse wont help the unfortunate. All that energy could be better used educating themselves.
Just when I thought the night was interesting and smooth, I ran into another lawbreaker. A runner . Stopped the woman to find out if she was an citizen or a visitor to the city . She claimed she was a citizen, but avoided to identify herself. Took off running to avoid it. I wont be surprise she was a wanted fugitive or something. Maybe guilty of something nefarious. The guilty always run. I didn't bother to give chase, she had some magical boots that made her run like a cat. I turned in the report and put up some Wanted posters. Who ever they are, if they get caught in the city, they will feel just how law treats criminals. If she really was a citizen, shes gonna find herself banished just like a Zhentrim.
Looks like I will have to be around more. Kidnappings, noblewomen investigating unsolved murders, and fleeing vagrants avoiding the law. Yeah, seems a Watchmens duty never ends.
