So I understand there was attempt to fine-tune Skull Gorge and... I think you overdid it tiny bit.
With SoV effect changed I've just had so many of them stacked that my full screen turned completely white.
It's not even worth it for the loot cause almost every chest breaks from NPC AoE.

Most if not all of them never break chests though - there are only a couple spots where a larger amount can spawn multiple casters, and this was never changed (and always was this way)
Though I'm curious on what your group composition was. The area has been tested by several groups. There are plenty of chests (equiv to pirates, a little under.)

Re: Skull Gorge fine tuning out of controll
We tried it as shifter, bard, fighter. Normally I had much less problems with this area than today. Perhaps someone before us went through and spawns doubled? Or it was just a coincidence and unlucky spawns. Since shamans got there greater ruin spell it's tricky to keep the good loot. Main prize awaits in 2 Boss spots of this location which is 8 chests in just those 2 places. Both can be ruined by NPC spells. There is another spot on the hill with 2 chests that also can be damaged and whole corridor before final boss has often chests broken before any opportunity for player reaction even appears. If you add possibility for frost trap it turns to a quite frustrating experience.
It's possible we were particularly unlucky but hells know how many Storms of Vengence stacked at shaman boss felt overdone. Greater ruin elemental epic spell often comes from behind the walls/corners or sometimes from ridiculous ranges. We got hit twice before even possibility of locating the caster appeared.
Overall I'm just suggesting maybe having second look cause it really felt overdone today.

yes there many storms and trick is not to make the storm break the chest you have to luke them out those druids if you a monk you are the only one that run , you run forward and back so you dont get hit as many ihope you have a saves not oget stuck in the storm and when you dont with that some one need to shoot them with bow or sling somethign run after you and then you party will be ready to fight them.

Odd they broke the chests . Maybe was a trap of some sort ? Greater ruin is single target . Might be some bombardment or similar ?
I've been running the gorge with party lately , never noticed a problem . Though hadn't tried since last update .

I could be mixing names of spells. I meant the epic one that does elemental damage in large radius.

Re: Skull Gorge fine tuning out of controll
I guess my main point is: While some chests can be saved using mentioned earlier method and pulling mobs on occasion I've seen Hellballs comming from ... Hell knows where (Casters standing behind walls before they even show up on screen). Such breaking of chests is really annoying. Perhaps removing chest destruction from NPC cast spells could be a valid solution? Imo destruction of chests shoudn't happen when there is even rare situation where you have no way of preventing it (Hellballs from hell aka NPC casters ignoring walls and corners).
Change of SoV effect to blinding white fog makes finding casters in time even more difficult.
