The Return: Aloria ap Ravar

*Aloria awakens from a nightmare, sweat dripping down her face, the leaves she is sleeping on matted by wet clumps of leaves. The dream fades quickly but she remembers a final glimpse of a part of her troubled past. She is chained to a wall in a dark place. A male drow wizard with arms folded stares down at her. He barks a command to Aloria. Aloria refuses to answer or obey, defiance burning her eyes. Before the wizard can scorch her with arcane flame Aloria awakens with a nightmarish shout. The lingering laughter of Bal'hal, sinister and out of place, lingers while she shakes the dream out of her mind*

Normally Aloria stays hidden in the shadows, observing, but never interacting. Weary of humans and even her own people, she stays to herself, a solitary hermit. However, tired of poor sleep, she sook distraction. And so finds it by the fire near the Friendly Arm Inn and engages in conversation with a human warrior named Nathaniel and an armor clad warrior named Yuri who claims to be an elf. When Aloria asks an innocent question about elves of the region, Yuri, without much prompting, discusses on how much he dislikes the elves of Doron Amar, preferring the elves of the other village of En Darashae. Enquiring disinterstedly it turns out that the other elves are preferred by Nathaliel because they are isolationists. While Yuri feels the elves of Doron Amar think soley in black and white terms, not tolerating any view about the drow other then the obvious, that they are evil and not to be trusted. Without much consideration, when Aloria agrees with the elves of Doron Amar, Yuri accuses her of black and white thinking, and not being open minded enough about the possibility of a good drow who was otherwise a victim of bad parentage. Aloria politely leaves.

Rather then finding solace and distraction Aloria finds she is concerned for Doron Amar. Are there still elves who are divisive and seek to undermine the safe harbor of her people? It apeers to be the case to her chagrined mind, at least with this gossip. Nowhere is there safety from the hatred and evil will of mortals. She must face the shadows of her past in order to be there for her people. The shadows that hide behind every tree that she, in a manner, planted with the first council long ago. The faces of Mauglir and his brother, who hid the secret of Maurglir's betrayal, one she considered an honorable friend, still stung her. Galen's subterfuge and working with Mauglir to destroy Doron Amar because they felt the presence of the village would imbalance nature caused her to question her people's motives. Could elven druids truly work for the destruction of the elven people and their desire for a home? Galen, who was like a father to her, as well as an esteemed elder druid. Rhysdan, a worthless fool, who inspite of her swords skewering him, was able to return to spread malice and pretend to take down Doron Amar from within. Elrithmithrade, who fell to perversion then disapeered never to be found again. Then Bal'hal, her failure and her seducer, who later became a shadow stalking her and taunting her while she became a slave to a mage in the region of Sshamath, where she lingered for years until she finally escaped. And who was it who tasked the slavers who captured Aloria and brought her to the underdark. This one thought hunted her with each "cycle" in that dark place. Was it the Charnag, the secret guardians of Sshamath that Aloria so often skewered, led by Izz'orgoll. Or was it Rhysdan and his shadow druid supporters? Perhaps it was the Shadow druids themselves? And as Aloria walked the life of a slave in the depths of the underdark the voice of Solonor became weaker until it went silent. She was alone. Truly alone.

Then Bal'hal, the bard drow, or sho she believed, found her. At first he was in his true form, a vampire drow. Then as pure shadow. While she believed it was him, a more astute mind may have seen an alternative possibility. In either form he taunted her and mocked her for believing that a drow could change and love. The shadow would strip her of the dignity of her innocence and youth with it's accusations and damn her with the judgment of a victor over its victim. Of a free person over a slave. Of a powerful entity and a pathetic, forgotten, and abandoned slave. Defeated and beaten. Abandoned. Cycle upon cycle. Year after year the taunts would whisper from the shadows. Aloria never answered the accusations, but she could not help but listen.

Image
Aloria makes her way through the underdark wilds, seeking a path to the surface, a living shadow stalks her, and she must learn to meld with shadows herself to escape it.

But as time went on a new voice was slowly heard. Aloria became convinced that it was the voice of Corellon that beckoned her to escape her wizard drow captor. Supporting her to make an escape. At first she thought it was her own thoughts. But she became convinced that it was his subtle whispers. She had been tested and cleansed of her past, by these experiences, so she felt. She was ready to leave. Her suffering was complete and coming to an end. She was meant to fight on. To make her way to the surface. Somehow. The voice of Corellon on one side, and the shadow of Bal'hal taunting her at the other, she killed the mage who imprisoned her. This mage who refused to give her freedom, while taking everything from her without her consent. She roamed the tunnels of the undedark for a year before finding the way out. There was no rest. But there was hope. Making it to the surface she nearly froze to death near the cloudpeak mountains. She thought she saw an elf come to help her on the frozen mountains, but instead, her body was left, and her swords gone and taken. Something brought her back to life and she wandered the forests for months as her mind was slowly remembering her true identity and seeking healing. Until finally she emerged and made herself known again to her people.

And so it was that her feet brought her to Doron Amar, seemingly by their own volition. The calm and peace of the village was astounding, erasing a recent past of impossible suffering that would have crushed most into despair or death. Clearly Mauglir and Galen were wrong. Nature was in perfect ballance here. Rhysdan was proven the fool everyone saw him for. His life and attempts to detroy Doron Amar a failure. Now the voice of Corellon weclomed Aloria as she entered the Oak Home while the shadow of Bal'hal, still snickering, was but a faint whisper behind her. Was the madness and bruality of the last decade finally behind her? Was she free, truly free, a slave no longer to the drow mage and the torments of Bal'hal?

Aloria prayed at the altar of Angharradh seeking help. And help came in the form of a druidess of Rillifane Rallathil named Naer'eanque. This one was kind and thoughtful. Sensitive and gentle. She spoke of renewal and healing. She listened and treated Aloria as a sister. Aloria spoke of her past and her wounds. She prayed with Naer'eanque. The whisper of Bal'hal was gone. All she could see was the beauty of Doron Amar. All the suffering. The many seasons of bringing the elves of the gate together to form onefaction. One family. The betrayals. The abandoments. Doron Amar lived. After all these years and fallen leaves. How is it possible? Corellon's voice lingers in the forests of Doron Amar. Aloria has not yet found his altar or statue of his form, but it is only a matter of time.

Meeting with the Captain of the Mathora she shares a heart to heart conversation. A strong guardian protects Doron Amar. And, interestingly enough, her hair is worn just as she had worn her own hair when she founded Doron Amar with the first council. And what is more. A miracle. There was a child! Children live in Doron Amar. The village named by the name she created. Protected by guardians named by herself. Guarded by a warrior who kept her hair in the same style she did in those days past. Wielding two swords just as she had.

Aloria walked to her friend the merchant female elf called by last name Moonshadow and they silently held each other. The tears flooded her eyes. Aloria was no longer hiding. She was facing the shadows of her past. She had a new pair of swords. She was no longer the naive female who trusted easily or simply because of heritage. But she was also no longer the same patient elven woman. She had not returned to save anyone or anything. She came back a hardened weapon. Forged in the darkness. Tempered by shadows and flame. Sharp as a razor. Seeking death not for herself, but for those twisted by the darkness she herself had escaped. Lolth be dammed. Drow be dammed. Those who stand against Doron Amar? Something Aloria has learned from her captivity. The quiet. The shadow. There is no escape from one who has learned the lesson of patience as a slave to the drow for a decade. Freedom and life has a whole new meaning. The children of Doron Amar will rest safely. Those who threaten these children will not find mercy.

Re: The Return: Aloria ap Ravar

Unread post by Lambert »

I have loved greatly, suffered greatly, persevered when others would have gone mad, and forgiven when I could have hated. Before slander, accusation, and judgement of my peers I stayed silent. Instead of demanding what should have been mine, I surrendered it to others who loved what I loved. As a result I wield both the light of Corellon in my heart and the power of the Shadows in my mind. With my body and will I use them for the good of my people and the detriment of their enemies. I am a daughter of the ap Ravar clan of wood elves. I was the first counselor of Doron Amar.

Aloria in the early days when she brought the elves of Baldur's gate together with Elrithmithrade Tir'Draluin

Full name: Aloria ap Ravar
Age: 145
Race: Wood elf
Sex: female
Date of birth: 145 years prior to current date
Place of birth: Forest of Lethyr
Alignment: Choatic good
Patron deity: Corellon
Profession: Scout, guardian, warrior, ranger, local leader of elves, guide, tracker, counselor, herbalist, friend of Corellon and Solonor, war band leader, hunter, tomb raider, burglar of treasures of hostile creatures, healer, master of shadows, heroic champion of Corellon, favored of Corellon, defender of the faith of the Seldarine, known elite veteran drow hunter and slayer, mage killer, rogue stalker, devil slayer, solitary nomad forest dweller and keeper of the forests, tender of the forest creatures, caretaker of the panther Orlpar, and master of the shadows.
Classes: Originally a ranger of Solonor and rogue, she is now a ranger fighter and champion of Corellon with the ability to hide in plain sight due to levels in shadow dancing.
Primary language: elven, with a wood elf dialect.

Secondary languages: undercommon, gnome, animal, and damaran.

Physical description: Back hair, golden eyes, fierce determined look, steady.

Psychological description: Originally an idealistic ranger of Solonor who believed love could conquor all, heal all, unite all, and that all elves were to be generally trusted to care for their own people, she extended love and support to all elves. This weakness allowed her to be seduced by a clever male drow who used her weaknesses against her and perhaps made her vulnerable to betrayal by many elves. After being a slave to a male drow wizard in the underdark living just outside of Sshamath, for a decade, where she was abused and tortured, she learned to understand the depths of depravity of the drow in a very personal way. While learning this she also contemplated the past betrayals of her own people over the years. While a servant she visited Sshamath on brief excursions but her master, kept her identity and face hidden most times, cloaked in magic and clothing as owning her gave him a particular joy. Aloria learned a great deal about drow society.

Rather then give into madness by the betrayals or abuse, she struggled on, and became more resolute and focused then before. However, now she doesn't have time for people who toy with evil or the near occasion of evil. She see's evil as not just selfish behavior and deciet, but laziness, envy, and murderous intent. Having seen in the underdark the evil of Lolth and Lolthian society she understands all too well the depths to which a soul can fall. Make no mistake. Aloria is a veteran of many battles, duels, wars, political intrigues, betrayals, back biters, and troubled individuals. She doesn't waist time with undisciplined or mentally malformed people. While she doesn't have the full blown PTSD you might see in some veteran warriors, she does have that no nonsense brevity that doesn't waist time with "sh** birds" that you will find in many US combat veteran servicemen. Also, as always, she believes strongly in the highest ideals of family, marriage, and the importance of raising good children. She see's the family as the cornerstone of a strong and healthy society and worth dying and killing for.

Aloria is at her heart a lover and nurturing person. But she has the discipline of a skilled and experienced warrior of many battles and wars. She led the elves of Doron Amar to victory in the first orc war. While loving her extended elven family was natural at first it became a duty when politics was thrust upon her as she become accepted as the central leader of Doron Amar in the early days. Some of the elves of Doron Amar had wanted to crown her a "coronal" but Aloria did not seek such honors, and felt it would detract from the familial nature of equality of council positions. She has known betrayal in many forms from those closest to her, some out of weakness and others out of dark purpose, but rather then let her become deflated or undone by it, it only strengthened her resolve to be the better person, more noble leader, while acknowledging her faults and mistakes, and carry on to serve others. She found she could have listened longer and helped those who courted darkness to see other avenues with more insistence. Aloria is also very good at sensing the good and evil in others, and has little tolerance for those who willfully are wanting in character. This is a sense born out of many years of experience with many different peoples and individuals as well as backgrounds. By many, I mean thousands upon thousands, most of whom were warriors of various rank, skill, and purpose.

Surprisingly after all she has been through there is still a look of understanding and kindness in her face. She is unassuming and humble in nature. She understands well her limitations and the limitations of others nature and hearts.

Bah'hal the drow bard seduces Aloria, but is in turn seduced by her sincerity and simplicity

Now the shadow of Bal'hal is a curse of having known Bal'hal, who was a powerful and real drow bard (played by DM wildelf). He was a drow who became enamored by Aloria. They spent a great deal of time together. It was somewhat clear that for Bal'hal Aloria was a challenge and a possible something of interest. An innocent creature unspoiled by the harshness of the underdark and naive enough to consider his ploys of interest as genuine affection. However, Bal'hal did assist Aloria, in contravention to his own pacts and interests, in slaying a vampire coven he was a part of. He chose her life over their's, with no obvious benefit to himself that Aloria was awaire of. He did become a vampire but in an attempt to reverse this recent transformation, Aloria destroyed the vampire coven that Bal'hal was a part of, and begged Solonor and the Seldarine to change Bal'hals heart and nature. Something happened later were the essence of Aloria, in an attempt to convert Bal'hal to good, was intermingled with his own. Whether this was an answer as well as a judgement of the Seldarine, perhaps a painful lesson or reminder, punishment, or a necessary action, is uknown to Aloria. This happened a decade ago. Aloria has wondered if this intermingling is a way for Bal'hal to return to the land of the living, which may have already happened as a re-incarnation into a wood elf male, or this is the remnants of evil she must contain and hold back from the realms, is unkown to her. Perhaps there is another reason. A soul tie. A wood elf claiming to be Bal'hahl did appear to her and neither that wood elf nor Bal'hal was ever seen of again. I am playing it that when Aloria gave her essence to the Seldarine to fuel the translation of the vampire Bal'hal back to a non-vampire, she sacrificed several points of her wisdom for it to be done. This is the same reason why she could no longer hear Solonor as her wisdom was too low to receive the ranger spells. (These are actual DM ingame events the DM wildelf and I roleplayed).

In his hay day Bal'hal commanded a powerful cohort in the underdark led by his halbred leader general Glaive. When Aloria was hungry for treasure she endeavored to search for the treasures of Bal'hal to use them for good, but this adventure was cut short, as Aloria was captured by slavers and brought to the underdark.

Psychologically, Aloria is in touch with her "shadow self", and she owns the evil she is capable of and has done in the past, wheather by ignorance or willful desire, but she controls it with stoicism, and uses it for good by using it to defend others. This evil takes the form of violence against those who harm or threaten her people. The shadow of Bal'hal is a representation of an echo of her past mistakes, as well as a possibly real entity or individual, but is not the real Bal'hal.

Aloria believes that the shadow of Bal'hal is a shadow being contained by Aloria, so the reincarnated Bal'hal, now a re-incarnated elf, may live in peace on the surface, untouched by the evil of it's former self. Bal'hal did many evil things, unkown to Aloria, and this great collection of evil deeds carries a price of justice upon him. A price Aloria may have taken on her own shoulders due to her filial and loving nature. Aloria realizes the peculiarities of opinions and judgements of others, how they judge quickly in order to satisfy their own selfishness and pride, and keeps these dark things a secret. She does this not out of fear of rejection, but out of a need to protect her people, yet again, from perhaps themselves. Few can take responsibility for their own evil, let alone the darkness of others. It is best not to throw difficult concepts to minds and hearts not capable of understanding lest they miss the opportunity of seeing things as they truly are. Perhaps she is now protecting Bal'hal from himself by keeping his shadow away from his re-incarnated elven form. What in fact she may be doing is keeping a bay a being seeking knowledge of Bal'hal's fate, to bring him back, or to learn something from him that will lead to his treasures or other glories or dark memories of hidden things long forgotten in the underdark.

If one weighs in the balance all the good Aloria has done vs the evil, one must only look upon Doron Amar, and see, what a mother sacrifices and gives birth to. Even against many odds, privations, tortures, mistakes, betrayals, disappointments, misunderstandings, and harsh judgements Aloria's goal of creating a united elven familial community has succeeded. Aloria believes that no one knows what truly happened to Bal'hal. Aloria believes she recalls that Bal'hal came to her in his new form, but she is uncertain if this was a dream, vision, or real. If it was real, was it truly what she saw, or was she shown an image of what she had hoped for? She could not confirm it because Bal'hal was never seen of or heard from since (Only DM wildelf knows).

All Aloria knows of herself is that she is one of those who stands at the gate. Who stands at the frontlines between her people and the darkness. She knows the darkness well in its many forms. She can even wield it and bend it to her own will for brief intervals in a supernatural way. It is a darkness rendered or permitted by the moonlight to exist in some places.

Religious views: originally a ranger of Solonor, she now follows Corellon singularly. While not a divine spell caster she epsouses the faith of Corellon by defending her people. The symbol of Corellon, the crescent moon, is espoused in Aloria by her feirce determination to fight within the darkness of the night, while not losing onself to it.

Ancestor: Comes from the wood elf Ravar clan in the Lethyr forests. No known ancestors of note.

Biography

Family: She has a brother who visited the Gate long ago.

History: Always a skilled fighter wielding two weapons, she renounced the way of Ranger partially, to take on the path of a champion of Corellon later in her martial career. Surviving in the underdark for a decade as a slave to the mage Vornerrin (character I RCR'd to make Aloria so this was just a convient plot line for Vornerrin's dissapearance and Aloria's re-apperance - but all other events in her history actually occured in game years ago), as well as a year in the underwilds, while being taunted by the Shadow of Bal'hal (Aloria's own shadow brought to life by a mixture of the essence of Aloria and Balh'hal - Soul tie), Aloria learned to dance within the shadows in the underdark and later became one with them. This allowed her to survive in the underdark. As a former ranger she already had some knowledge of this ability, but the caverns of the underdark and the shadow of Bal'hal that hunted her, taught her the rest. Aloria is a wood elf who lived in the gate over 11 years ago. She was the first elf in the server to call for unity and formed the first council of elves in the region, that later would become the council of Doron Amar. She created the Mathora and led them in the first orc was defending Doron Amar. She also named Doron Amar after her created name was voted by all the elves at the time as the best choice for a name of the village. CLosing the end of the days of the first council of Doron Amar, her friends were planning on making her the coronal of Doron Amar. Aloria's contributions included not just forming the first elven council and leading it as the first counselor, a task filled with political sparring (as you can see in her journal a little), as well as organizational activities over months to a years, but was also trying to make sure the council survived. The second council was a poor attempt at a replacement when the first council members departed west or betrayed Doron Amar, but with the help of Dajala Silverleaf, whom Aloria chose as her successor, she left Doron Amar in the hands of Dajala and the third council. Aloria suffered a great deal of malice, slander, a mixture of fear and hatred by the Flaiming Fist and by some elves, who blaimed her for some of the difficulties that confronted Doron Amar in the early days. Wythran Tall blaimed Aloria for the first Orc War, telling others that she was responsible for causing it by attacking the orcs. Some whispered to the ears of the Dukes of Baldur's Gate that Aloria was a threat, leading to Sir Dallenthal Wyndsoul threaten her with death if she harmed the Gate or the Flaiming Fist. Nothing was further from the truth. Aloria always simply took people for face value and treated them by their actions, not their powerful contacts, or their political strength. A common feature of wood elf triablistic society where personal honor is placed at a very high position. Eventually Aloria was close to death on the Cloud Peak Mountains, her swords were taken, and later her body revived and she was taken to the underdark and taken as a spell dominated servitor to a powerful mage of Sshamath for a decade. This male drow saw her as a toy and a source of amusement, and abused her to break her down, and demeaned her, taking out his resentments at being treated poorly by female drow and displacing his pain onto Aloria. Although abused, Aloria tried to serve him well and show kindness, but after ten years of service he still would not allow her to gain her freedom, so she killed him when his magic that dominated her grew weak. Fleeing into the underdark she hid and tried to survive there for a year, until finally emerging onto the surface, with the powers of a master of shadows, as well as a strong unshakable faith in Corellon, that lit her way to the surface. In the last few months Aloria has been getting to know the recent elves of Doron Amar and making new friends. Happiness has found it's way back into her life and she is prospering. Seeing Doron Amar not just survive all these years, but become more beautiful then ever, is a gift to her, one she is very greateful for, especially to Vanira and Feleron, who are the current leaders protecting and guiding the village.

Future: to serve her people at Doron Amar. Always the servant seeking to help in any way needed. She wants to enjoy companionship and bring the mystery and wonder of Corellon to the realms. As Corellon believed in changing the hearts of evil to good, so too she, attempted to convert Bal'hal, and would have tried to convert Galen had she been given the chance. As to why some seem lost and others not is not so obvious though. Aloria would also be willing to bring war to the drow, and would consider forming a small group of hunters for this purpose. But those are speculative thoughts of hers, and her main future is simply to enjoy friendship and her extended family at Doron Amar. Healing will take time, and is progressing well for her thus far, in particular thanks to the friendship and guidance of Alsiaris and Naer'eanque.

Heirloom item: neat rapier, a prized rapier blessed by Corellon. Rapier with assistance with hiding in shadows, spotting, and moving silently as well as bonus dam (divine) and a on hit effect (holy weapon activation maybe? don't know) with a good DC and of a good material, maybe admantium? Maybe it provides immunity to knockdown? A green leaf thistledown armor AC1 dex mod 10 with +4 AC and hide, spot, survival, and move silently ability with bonus to universal saves and either a mass heal spell like the warpriest ability or death ward spell once or twice a day. Something made for her, possibly for helping to unite the elves in the Gate and getting the elven rp started there. Thirdly, maybe an epic crown of mithril greenleaf and gold that gives +4 wisdom, +4 deflection, +4 spot, +4 hide, +4 move silently, and summons a protector being of Doron Amar once per day.

Plot hooks: if DM Wildelf comes back he could bring Bal'hal back again! :) The shadow of Bal'hal is likely not even Bal'hal, but one of his powerful minions seeking knowledge of his whereabouts, perhaps a demon, or his twin brother. Maybe Aloria had some half drow kiddos with the mage in the UD? Maybe the Charnag Maelthra suvivors want pay back (I used to kill the Charnag Maelthra all the time - they never got me heh). Plots with Shadow Druids, who have long memories, and who while likely cannot harm Doron Amar, might try to strike at one of its founding members. Aloria would be totally fine with hunting down any drow or drow activity. Hmmm.. Wonder why. Also, Aloria has a particularly bad name amongst the Orcs, having killed quite a few of them. In fact Wythran blaimed her for one of the orc invasions against Doron Amar. Might not have been a fair accusation as many elves were known to hunt orcs, but it is true that Aloria hunted more then her fair share. I think we could say that when Aloria sacrificed some of her essence to change Bal'hal, she lost several wisdom points, which is why Solonor stopped speaking to her, or she stopped being able to hear Solonor. It was Corellon, whose champions do not require as much wisdom, who reached her heart and was moved by her sacrifice to change Bal'hal to good. Perhaps Corellon wonders of Lolth could do the same, and repent of her treachery and adultery to him. A deeper relationship between Corellon and Aloria would be fun and intresting. I loved having appearances by the elven pantheon in other NWN2 servers to my toons such as in the NWN1 world Vives. Lastly, Aloria would be up for seeking the lost treasure of Bal'hal in the underdark and is actually attempting to gain access to Candlekeep to learn more about him and see where he may have left his treasure. Aloria would be interested in forming a drow hunting group, though secretive. Another plot hook is finding out who was the person that healed her or brought her back to life on the Cloudpeak mountains. That is unkown to Aloria (I made up the story). Another plot hook is the connection between the merchant Moonshadow in the Doron Amar tileset and Aloria. Aloria was attracted to the last name of Moonshadow because Aloria follows Corellon and moves with the shadows (Corellon's holy symbol is the Moon and Aloria can hips). While I made up the friendship, it can be developed by a DM possessing the merchant. Aloria and her formed a friendship after a few conversations by her campfire. Also, Aloria has kept the head of the vampire Lady Devossoss in her inventory, as a reminder of the foul coven (DM wilelf event). She also keeps a lock of the Sarah's hair, the ghost from the fields of the dead, from the event of another DM (the elven nobleman :)) that awarded her magical mithril chain shirt over a decade ago. Not sure how either is important or a plot hook, but I kept the event souvenirs as they were created by those DMs. There are a large number of toons Aloria interacted with in the history of Doron Amar and any of those old characters or their siblings, could be potential plot hooks. Also, Aloria just heard the story of Selegil, a former member of Doron Amar's council, who later become a Lord of the Darkhold. Not sure what connection that would have with Aloria, but it is something that does leave a bad taiste in her mouth.

(SECRET PLOT HOOK UNKOWN TO ALORIA: The shadow of Bal'hal is actually his twin brother, who fasilitated the capture of Aloria to break down her mind and find out what happened to his brother. Not being successful he followed her for a year in the underdark trying to get the information through other means and dark magic, but Aloria was too skilled at hiding and her tormented mind was too chaotic for him to dream sift her memories while she slept. Lastly, he follows her to the surface to track her steps and see if she somehow leads him to Bal'hal. Why his brother wants this information is unknown and up to the DMs.) The Charnage Maelthra may be investigated Vornerring death and somehow discover that Aloria, a former criminal who killed many of its members (yeah I killed all the Charnag Maelthra guild members, Izz'orgoll a few times, and never lost once), is responsible. Aloria also is an enemy of the Shadow Druids, one that foiled their attempts at stopping Doron Amar from being built and with the help of Myhun Kren, exposued Mauglir aka The Dark One aka Faerynn Adarell. Also, Aloria had a falling out with Wyhtran Tal that she wants to repair if possible. They have unfinished business in this regard. Also, Aloria helped the Ghost of Sarah in the fields of the Dead (DM Broham solot event) and has a conncetion with this former ranger of good whose soul she set to rest. She also slaughter a vampire Coven at Berghost (DM Wildelf solo event) and has the head of Lady De'vosos still. Aloria had many interactions with DM wild elf in solo encounters between Aloria and Bah'hal. It is was a very moving story line of Aloria trying to convert Bah'hal to good and the Seldarine and free him from his vampirism. It ended with General Glaive capture and killing Aloria, Aloria getting rescued and brought back to life by the Mathora, and Bah'hal being re-incarnated into a wood elf and then disdsapearing (actual events DMd by DM wildelf). In a general way Aloria would be selflessly involved in investigating and taking action to protect any current citizen of Doron Amar, in particular council members, particularly Vanira (affection for and respect), Feleron (respect), Alsiaias (deep respect and affection), and Naer'eanque (deep affection and curiosity). Aloria see's herself as a kind of mother or grandmother of Doron Amar as well as the Mathora. She wants to help Lylan make the Mathora as strong as possible while not stepping on her toes. Aloria is a treasure hunting fiend, and even a casual observer will not she loves treasure and martial challenge.

Aloria returns after many years, betrayals, and enslavement. More seasoned and less naive.

*Sitting by the river that runs through Doron Amar, at the base of the waterfall, resting on a mass of black fur of a panther, hidden by a fruit bush and slowly picking and eating said berries, a young wood elf female sorts through her thoughts and emotions, and comes to full peace with her past.*

It is good to be back in Doron Amar and even better to see wise counselors and a steadfast captain of the Mathora present. My heart renders to me this truth, that heals my soul. All the slander, gossip, betrayals, blood spilled, abandonments, and losses all those years ago, has born the good fruit that I had intended it to. That is a treasure none can take from me or keep from me. I have helped start and create something out of love, that has born love, and brought many together, even as I was forgotten, and for a time, my plights unkown. I am glad that none knew of my enslavement to Vornerrin in the underdark. To attempt a rescue would have led to may deaths. And as I have come to understand, Corellon had wanted me to learn many things about myself and the drow, for reasons he has not fully revealed to me, other then to hint at.

Though I can see the imperfections of these counselors of Doron Amar, their unique fragilities, it seems to be tempered by genuine fraternal appreciation for their people as a whole, and for each other. They are protective of each other, which means they have suffered, and I know that suffering is necessary to develop the experience necessary to lead wisely.

*a long pause is followed, a short nap, then awakened by the sound of a fish jumping out of the water Aloria continues to muse*

Image

I was sad to see Feleron and Vanira come to a disagreement. I cannot help but inwardly chuckle to see Vanira fall in love with a human who wields a sword that glows with dark energy, as I remember her over a decade ago having harsh words for me, publically, in front of many elves at the last gathering I attended. Though I do not remember those words exactly, my heart remembers their harshness and pride, like an acusing dagger seeking to scanadlize and hurt. I am glad I could return to her my unconditional love and forgiveness for words that bit into my heart and stayed with me in the underdark during my slavery. I find her matured and seasoned now, and pray for her that she passes the test of love and infatuation, and does not fall to despair or regret, for the betrayals that often come from those we hold closest in our hearts. Feleron for his part, acted to defend the way and dignity of our people as he saw it. I don't know if he acted rashly or not, as I am not privy to all the details, but many loves pass quickly and do not last, and I choose not to judge him either. To be a leader is difficult, and I rather trust and support him, then undermine him and challenge him, even if he made occasional mistakes or spoke in a way lacking charity or patience.

*after another long pauses that is disturbed by a panther, greedy to give afection, starts to lick her cheek insatiably Aloria continues to muse*

Image
Aloria learns the truth of Faerwyn's betrayal for the first time at Candlekeep via the council of Myhun the great mage. Myhuns intervention likely saved Doron Amar, and he was granted by Aloria the title of honored guest of Doron Amar.

I could not help but notice that the history book "The Chronology of Doron Amar" misses many details and omits many things. It seems to make me seem to be an itenerant leader, often leaving and coming and going, not the thread that kept our people tied to the future of Doron Amar, or the one who tried to keep the council of Doron Amar alive. I notice in the Chronolgy, and in the war memorial of Doron Amar, no mention of my role in leading the Mathora in the first Orc war is made. I also see no mention of my creating the Mathora or appointing the first Captain of the Mathora for the defense of Doron Amar mentioned, nor my role in naming the Oak home. No mention is also made of my discovery of the plot of Faerwyn, thanks to the information given to me by a mage of Candlekeep, that helped us finally define our true enemy, the Dark One and Narrisus, Faerwyn and Galen, and thus be on our guard against them. No mention is made of my hunting of Rysdan Sith who worked with Faerwyn. To a great extent I feel that distrust of my past actions has carried forward, along with no one really knowing what pains I bore for our people and the omissions in the remembrances, or what I accomplished for them. I noticed this when returning on how I was not invited into the confidence of the current council. No matter though, the burdens of leading is not something I seek. And, they are better at forming connections with other groups then I was I sense, as it is true that in a way I was itinerant, as I needed many solitudes in the forests. Being away from my home forest of Lethyr is taxing, I find the constant chatter and constructions of so many beings, especially the humans, dizzying and distracting from what is important to me. Peace.

Image

In the end I choose to forgive all things because I know that once I was the untrusting and ungrateful one to my parents and clan leaders in Lethyr at times. Full of self-importance. Taking for granted sacrifices unseen and unheard. Children seldom truly know the burdens of their loving parents, until they too become parents themselves, so I have learned by observation.

Image

It gives me pleasure to tease them in their insecurities, especially Lylan, who tries too hard to fulfill her duties in my opinion. To keep them guessing. In a sense, it is a matter of humor, but in another, perhaps it is best that I do not become too close. I cannot say what consequences will bring from the death of a high wizard of Sshamath, if it is discovered, by my own hand. Nor the fact that i had killed all the leaders of the Charnag Maelthra, only a decade ago, and what vengeance may follow. And what of the Shadow Druids? Will they remember how I hunted Rhystan Sith on their sacred lands, killing him and the many Balors they sent to stop me so they could reclaim his body, while threatening death to them for their actions against Doron Amar. And what of Bah'hal, has he grown into a wood elf male of significance? And of the shadow that pursued me in the underwilds for a year, have I finally escaped it? I remember the kind and wise words of the druid Near'anque, whose voice often soothes me, even when she is not trying.

Image
Aloria kills Vornerrin the high mage of Sshamath, her master, and escapes into the underwilds

I choose to believe that I have a new beginning. New things are coming. I am forming new friendships. Forging new possibilities. Solonor's voice has returned to me and speaks to me about a dark night of the soul that I had to pass through. Orlpar, my panther, has returned to me. He, apparently, living in the forests around Doron Amar all this time, waiting for my return. To be honest, besides Corelon and Solonor, Orlpar is my only true friend.

Image
Aloria hunts down Rhysdan Sith alone, as the first council has either departed west or betrayed the elves, and faces the Shadow druids and their Balors. She kills Rhysdan, but the Balors keep coming, but all die at her hands.

I hope to help Captain Lylan by helping to train up some of the warriors into a war party that understands the movements of the other. I have seen elven and drow war parties move with much greater skill and ability, then what I have seen thus far from Doron Amar.

Image
Aloria earning her reputation as a hunter of drow, reputed to have killed each member of the Charnag Maelthra leadership that daired to raid on the surface

The future is best enjoyed in good company, and this region of Faerun is known for all kinds of disturbances. My greatest fear comes from the drow and their infrnal spider Goddess. The danger Lolth presents is very real and very dangerous. A slave for a decade in the underdark has taught me a great deal about the underdark. The beauty, love, and life of Doron Amar, and of my people must be protected at all costs. I have yet to find any drow on the surface.

Image

*tired of her musings Aloria falls fast asleep. A long tail of a panther raps around her and her head rests on the panther's neck. The purring of the cat quiets her thoughts, memories, and worries, and puts her to sleep. Ocassionally Aloria stirs or moans from a nightmare of the past, but the pander licks her ungarded face as she sleeps*

I had a duel with Captain Lylan and I was impressed. She defeated me with a stunning technique I had never witnessed before, and her foot work was perfect. I found it very diffcult to make contact with her as her defenses were very strong. I cannot imagine how many countless years of practice it took for her to master her technique, but it must have been a great master that taught her. Doron Amar is well protected by such a great swordswoman. Her techinque is only matched by her determination and will.

Counselor Near'anque, the wise druidess with flaiming red hair, whose words are soothing, organized a gathering in a tavern at Greenest celebrating the great encounter with the demons of Ulgarths Beard.

I have not had that much fun in some time, though my mind guided me back to dark times, I was quickly diverted from them by the kindness and friendship of the guests, and a dance with Alsiairas.

And what ever happened to Elrithmithrade Tir'Draluin, the first captain of the Mathora of Doron Amar, who gave out the call at my request, to bring together the very first meeting of the elves in Baldur's Gate? I searched for her for a long time, but was never able to find her. She was banished it is said, I fear because of that sordid relationship she had with that dark souled elven girl. If weakness of character is a failure or a betrayal, I cannot say, but looking back, I see she left instead of fighting for her friendships and people. Her duty was to Doron Amar and to me, and she let the weakness of her flesh lead her astray. May Corellon teach me moderation and mortification of the flesh, lest I too fall as she did. But who was more at fault, myself because of Bal'hal, or Elrithmithrade because of Erwin. I cannot say. We all pay the price for our sins in the end. Perhaps we receive mercy because we give it to others.

Sir Justin Crownsilver of the flaiming fist.

The Sir Justin Crown Silver affair, my recollections and impressions and lessons learned

I am a wood elf from the forests of Lethyr. I travelled with my clan, the ap Ravars, known for fierce independence, living off the land, and silent and sudden war band attacks on orcs, drow, gnolls, and other marauders. We roamed as one in the forests, isolated from other elves, and almost never coming across humans, and their anxious paranoia and pride. When I first came to Baldur's gate, it was not by travelling the roads, but roaming the forests on my own with Orlpar, hunting on the run, doing things as I learned in my youth. I was a young woman now, and I did not want to start a family as of yet, but was set upon by wander lust and a desire to steal fromthe treasure hordes of dragons and orc warband leaders. i was an impetus risk taker who defied death and desired challenge.

When I arrived at Badlurs gate, it was the stench of the humans that struck me first. Less earthy and musky then orc warbands, their odor has more of a scent of urine and fecal matter then the orcs. There was also the blend of old cloth and rusty metal. It was so peculiar to me that I could not help but emerge onto the roads and learn about the towns and city of Baldur's Gate. The first human I encountered on the road was a human priest of Tyr name Beren Cross, who having seen me, called out to me to join him in tracking down drow that were sighted in the area. What a peculiar way to meet someone, my first human, but we quickly became a team fighting the drow, something we did as individuals, but then together. Elrithmithrade Tir'Draliun joined us often as well.

Image
Beren Cross fighting a drow, his favorite past time

On our travels together, Beren would give vent, somewhat like a petulant child, but in the body of a powerful adult human, on the failings of the Flaiming Fist, and how they refused to reform and patrol more earnestly against the drow. His criticism of the Flaiming fist was rather persistent, and he desired to take a more predominant role leading them, as I believe he felt he would be a better leader then it's current leadership. To be honest his bold words were brash and full of arrogance and self-rightousnes, but what did I Know to care for a group of human guardsmen, who I would only later discover could be very dangerous and lethal to those they viewed as enemies or threats. Little did I did I know the implications of being Beren's friend. As it turns out the Flaiming fist was not amused by Beren's firey spirit, and it seems like instead of taking a view that Beren had some good qualities, if properly molded and perhaps put in his place by a strong commander, it seemed they intended to accuse him of crimes against the Fist. But first they had to create those crimes or provoke them I believe. The First was, as it turns out, a laweful orgnization, prideful of their power, and ability to enforce, I sense selectively in the case of Beren Cross, and made him out to be some kind of deserter or vigilanty mercenary that threatened them. A dwarf of the flaming fist went out to meet Beren cross with other Flaiming fist soldiers, and he essentially provocked Beren into an altercation, which was quit obvious. I do not think that dwarf was overly skilled at deception and his mind on the matter would have been obvious to the least astute observer. He wanted to calumiate Beren, and Beren fell for it because of his temper. The dwarf, feigning a more agregious injury then sustained, ran back to his headquarters to spread the lie that Beren was an outlaw and had attacked him, when it was the dwarf who initiated hostilities. No doubt this obnoxious dwarf never mentioned this plan of his to his superiors, unless it was their plan and not his. But it was clear to me that caluminating Beren was a way to deal with him permanently, becase they feared his influence or perhaps haited him for his arrogance and inability to follow their order and command structure, which I could understand to an extent, but their over reaction painted the Flaiming Fist as skeamers and bullies of the worse kind. The kind that murder and lie about others. I was not present when Beren fought with Sir. Justin Crownsilver, and apparently killed him. This is what led to Beren being found guilty of murder and I believe executed. How interesting that some days after this Justin Crownsilver, whose death was used as justification for Beren's execution, was then seen walking aroud the Gate as if never better.

Image

This whole disasterous situation, both sad for many who fought alongside Beren, for Beren himself, and for the mood and trust in the Flaiming Fist, spilled over upon me and the elves of the region. Naturally we elves found reason not to trust the Flaiming Fist because of these sordid dealings, but predictably, the Lords of Baldur's Gate, came to the defense of their guardsmen and supported them, probably not knowing the extent of the manipulation of these guardsmen on who used the trust in their positions to defame the lawful population, and a general feeling that we elves were outlaws of sorts, or perhaps worse, in league with the sinister plots and plans of Beren Cross to bring down the Flaiming Fist was present. How utterly rediculous. Humans are clearly paranoid and deft at character assassination, but while they may convince their distracted superiors, the people saw clearly. However, the Lords of Baldur's Gate took it seriously as I found as one of the Lords stopped me on the road outside of Candlekeep, Sir Dalenthall Wyndsoul, sword drawn as if to strike me, as he threatened to kill me ifI crossed the Flaiming Fist or threatened Baldur's Gate. Such a gesture by an ap Ravar against another of the clan would lead to a duel of honor, and a part of me wanted to teach this arrogant Lord a lesson, but I did not threaten him back for the brash gesture, instead advising him calmly that I nor any other elf had any plans to harm Baldur's Gate or the Flaiming Fist. I suspect now that Sir Dalenthall was attempting to protect me from engaging with the Fist, as much as he was protecting themselves, from in reality, non-existing threats, mostly just the shadows of their own guilty consiciousness, and the machinations and manipulations of at least one surly simpering dwarf. But at the time I was hurt and offended. It is one of the stings to my heart that I can still feel to this day.

Image

As I was learning, political intrigue was not novel to human order and relationships, but to we elves as well. I sensed that Aleilsum and Faerwyn grasped at this incident, as an example in my failure in leadership, as they did not defend me, but took the situation as face value. As a wood elf of the ap Ravar clan, such dishonorable actions would never have been allowed, but then, the ap Ravars were a true family, and not all elves treated each other as such. Obviously Faerwyn saw political advantage and way to discredit me, and set a wedge in the council and our people in the region, one he would want to exploit as "the Dark One" seeking to secretly stop Doron Amar's construction. Aleilsum only wanted to be useful and help, and if he could be seen as the more reasonable council member in the process, all the more benefit. Perhaps I am being harsh towards Aleilsum, but I felt that his leaving to go west and abandoning the project of Doron Amar, was because he could not take the lead role within the council, but perhaps I am being harsh and paranoid myself. I doubt it. I grieved the loss of Beren, the loss of peace and a sense of justice around the Gate, and the continued political and emotional sparring my role in the council demanded, all so that Doron Amar could eventually be born.

I am sure that many arrogant and ambitious elves used this event to disparage me or diminish my intentions for Doron Amar and our people. Perhaps to cast me in the light of the fool or the rash. Neither was ever the case. I chose not to defend myself but observed silently the open hearts of humans and elves, but it was the beginning of me growing tired of civilization and even the argumentationn and maneurving of influence and power within the first council of elves, that made me desire and long for the solitude of the forests. If I had more allies, perhaps this would not have been such an ordeal, but I was a stranger in a strange land, surrounded by those who make quick judgements, or expedient ones. All I desired was a safe place for our people to be a true family. Little did I know that while I was a prisoner in the underdark, that flower did in fact bloom, likely slowly and with many pains I was not present to share in phsyically.

Fircair the ranger of Mielikki, member of the druid grove, and member of the first council of Doron Amar

Of the first council of Doron Amar, I miss Fircair the most. He always had good spirits, was ready to serve without reward, deference, or need of validation. He was kind, humble, and sook only on how best to serve others. I never found out what happened to him. He did not leave like Aleilsum, Alarice, and Elrithmithrade. He did not betray like Faerwyn and Elohir. He simply vanished. I worry, that as a member of the druid grove led by Galen and Faerwyn, that he may have discovered their plots and was killed by them, but I fear I may never learn the truth. I will offer up some incense at the altar of Angharradh for his safety and return. I will pray for him until the next full moon.

Faerynn Ara'dhel, a high druid of the druid grove, and prominent member of the first council of Doron Amar

Faerynn Ara'dhel was an obviously ambitious member of the first council of Doron Amar. I noted that his presence always seemed to demand deference as if he believed he was born to lead, and all should follow. He was incredibly duplicitous in convincing all, including myself, that he was a wise and noble druid, when, while actively challenging me in the council regularly, degrading the peace within the council and my own peace, behind the scenes he schemed with the Archdruid of the grove, Galen, to stop Doron Amar from being built. He put on a mask and actively plotted our downfall, attacking, and possibly working hand in hand with Rhysdan Sith, and likely spreading rumors and slander, as well as spreading doubt, death, and darkness to defeat our common purpose. Looking back I cannot tell what was the true mask of Faerynn, his face of noble bearing as a druid of our people leading it in the first council or as a destructive betrayer called Mauglir. As the "Dark One" or Mauglir, he would wear a mask, and command the forces of the Shadow Druids, possibly even a Shadow Druid himself, or their leader. I never discovered the full truth of his origins or power base, though I would have liked to. Shadow druids have a name that is well earned. His brother Elohir, a ranger of the grove, must have known the truth, but never exposed his brother, or his brother's dark and sinister plots. That broke my heart and was one of the wounds to my heart that still hurts at times when I look at our people. I always thought of Elohir as one of the noblest rangers, a selfless sacrificial warrior, and handsome as well. It is rumored that Faerynn or Rhysdan were seen conspiring with drow. This whole affair changed forever the way I viewed our people and those who call themselves druid. The druids of the region never made amends or apologized for the abhorrent actions of one of their senior members, to my knowledge. Perhaps druids feel that they are above the concerns of regular elves and of honor. Until I met Naer'anque, I lost trust in druids. I will likely always be suspicious of them. Perhaps this was one reason, the scandal of this event, that led me to partially abondon my own path as a ranger and question service to those who called themselves the leaders and protectors of the forests. If memory serve Faerynn was friends with Sir Dallenthel Wyndsoul. Again, did others know what I only later disovered thanks to the information given to me by the mage Myhun at Candlekeep?

Alarice Lharythlin, a member of the first council of Doron Amar, and confidant and partner of Aleilsum

Alarice Lharythlin was always present at council meetings, staying near Aleilsum, and did a great deal of listening, and very little speaking. I remember her beauty and poise, her simplicity and kindness. When she did speak it was generally in support of something that was for the good of our people. She had few words but I remember the hidden gentleness behind each word. Her presence was like a gentle breeze. I remember she said goodbye to me before going west. When she and Aleilsum left, it was like losing a brother and a sister. I hope they are thriving in the west. If I go west, I know I will want to find them.

Aleilsum Elrum, as I remember him, a confident, regal, calm, and helpful member of the first council of Doron Amar.

Aleilsum Elrum was, in my opinion, the only other council member who was capable to lead the first council. Perhaps that is why I often felt that we were sparring for the position of first counselor in the group. He was generally diplomatic, direct, and he cared about others and for the greater relationships outside of just our people. Whereas myself I distrusted the humans and believed they were incapable of anything but distrust, paranoia, arrogance, and pride, he clearly placed some value in dialoguing with them, and he was right. It was he who attempted to reach out to the Lords of Baldur's Gate to smooth over tensions due to the Crownsilver affair, as it had become kown as. He did this for the good of our people. I believe in the long run, had he stayed, he would have made a better leader then I, in retrospect, for Doron Amar. It spoke well of him that Alarice, his constant companion and a woman of great quality, followed his lead instinctively and with tenderness and trust. The only advantage I had over him was my stubborness and unwillingness to leave a project incomplete, wherease he had the wisdom and perspective to leave, bringing with him a prosperity most elven men would envy. I can understand now why he would leave, to protect Alarice, and their future, from the evils of Mauglir and the Flaiming Fist. I myself had no one to consider but myself and perhaps Orlpar.

Toshiro

There is not much to say about Toshiro. He was nominated by the first gathering of elves to be a member of the first council. He accepted the role, but never attended any of our meetings since that time, or helped the elves in the region. If anything, he is simply a lesson about those who seek position without responsibility.

Elrithmithrade Tir'Draluin, beserker greataxe wielder and friend

Elrithmithrade was my first elven friend in region of Baldur's Gate, and had a reputation of felling giants with one mighty swing of her greateaxe. I have to admit, watching her randomly cleave a giant in two, like felling a giant tree, was a macabre yet entertaining venture. While she was not originally elected to the council, perhaps due to her wild nature, this wild elf took the place of Elohir on the council, who stepped down so she could have a place. I had asked her to gather all the elves in the region near the great bridge of Baldur's Gate so that we could have a consensus, and that is where the first council of Doron Amar was born, and the seed for the village of Doron Amar planted. I did not know Elthmithrade well, and she spoke very little. But she always did everything that was asked of her without complaint and with good results, and it was her that rescued me from General Glaive, by leading the Mathora of Doron Amar to rescue me. I would be dead without her courage, skill, and steadfastness. She too was a friend to Beren Cross and felt the injustice of the Crownsilver affair. I believe she also became involved somehow with those events, but I do not recall the details, and I was not there when they happened. When she disapeared from the region, I searched for her for many months, but I was never able to find her trail again. That was a pain in my heart that has healed with time, but I still wonder what became of the first captain of the Mathora, and the friend who saved my life, and wanted to have me crowned as the Coronal of Doron Amar. I will offer incense at the altar of Angharradh for her as well until the next full moon. One never forgets good friends as they are rare and hard to find. There loss is always painful, but knowing them gives courage to continue, and not give up.
