Physical description:
Tovin stands at a height of 3'2" with an athletic forty-five pound frame that is lean and muscular. His most striking feature is his vibrant green eyes, which sparkle with a mix of curiosity and determination. His shaggy, dark brown hair and chops frame his face with a rugged charm. Despite their small size, a few scars were readily apparent on his face. These include a cut at the corner of his left eyebrow, a mark on the left side of his chin, and a deep scar that runs down the left side of his throat. Tovin's skin, slightly bronzed by the sun, suggests he is no stranger to the outdoors as would fit any youthful, adventuring halfling.

Psychological description:
Tovin is a halfling with a quick wit and even quicker reflexes, traits that have proven invaluable to him in recent years. Naturally curious, he is always eager to explore new places and meet new people, often leading to danger. Tovin is deeply loyal to his friends, especially his wife, Lilly. His love for her is fierce, and he would stop at nothing to protect her. Tovin's protectiveness can be seen as controlling and overboard, but he believes it's necessary to shield Lilly from the darker aspects of the world, a world he knows all too well. His scars, though small, serve as constant reminders of the challenges he has faced and overcome, instilling in him a profound sense of resilience and a cautious nature. Tovin is not one to back down from a fight, but he prefers to use his intelligence and agility to avoid direct confrontations whenever possible.

Religious views:
Tovin's childhood was mostly devoid of religious influence other than the occasional prayer to Yondalla from his mother. Initially, he gravitated towards Brandobaris upon joining the thieves' guild. However, as he grew older and his life became intertwined with Lilly, a cleric of Ilmater, his spiritual leanings shifted. Now, when he finds himself in moments of reflection or need, it is Ilmater to whom he turns. Tovin's connection to Ilmater has deepened through his relationship with Lilly, and he has come to appreciate the strength and resilience that the god embodies, qualities that resonate deeply with his own experiences.

Biography

Family
Mother: Fara Puddlejumper
Father: Pevlin Puddlejumper
Wife: Lilly Puddlejumper

History
Tovin's upbringing was anything but ordinary for a halfling. His father, Pevlin, was a member of the thieves' guild, a life that kept him away from home for long periods of time. When he was present, the house was filled with tension, as Tovin's mother, Fara, desperately pleaded with him to leave the guild and find a safer path to support his family. Pevlin, however, knew no other way to provide for his family, and his loyalty to the guild was unwavering. Despite the chaos, Fara was a beacon of love and care, offering Tovin the best life she could manage in their small, humble shack in the muzad of Calimport. Tovin, though lacking in material wealth, was never without food, clothing, or the profound love of his mother, who ensured he received a good education.

From a young age, Tovin was captivated by his father's mysterious life. He would often sneak out, following Pevlin through the winding streets of Calimport, eager to uncover the secrets of his father's world. Tovin's natural curiosity and keen observation skills allowed him to quickly adapt to the streets, befriending the other children of the muzad. He learned the ropes of street life, picking up skills like stealing from stalls, pickpocketing, and general mischief. These early experiences forged a bond between Tovin and the streets, a connection that would shape his future.

Tovin's world was shattered when Pevlin did not return home for over a week. Tovin's mother, Fara, would concoct stories and excuses to explain her husband's absence, but deep down, she knew the truth. One fateful morning, a small piece of parchment was found on the kitchen table, bearing the grim news that Pevlin had been killed on a job. This loss devastated both Fara and Tovin, sending Tovin into a spiral of rebellion. He became increasingly defiant, no longer the obedient child he once was, and began to spend more time on the streets, often finding himself in trouble with the authorities.

His mother, seeing him as old enough to understand the truth, revealed the nature of his father's work. At the age of sixteen, driven by a mix of curiosity and a desire for closure, Tovin sought out the thieves' guild. Tovin was drawn to the guild, not only by the allure of danger but by the promise of following in his father's footsteps. His street smarts and natural agility made him a perfect fit for the guild, and his status as Pevlin's son earned him a warm welcome. Tovin quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a full-fledged member within a year, taking on the most perilous jobs with a fierce determination.

However, Tovin's new life came at a cost. He was rarely home, leaving Fara to face her loneliness and illness alone. As Tovin's eighteenth birthday approached, Fara fell gravely ill, and despite his best efforts, Tovin could not be by her side as she passed away. This loss plunged him into a deep sense of guilt and despair, causing him to retreat even further into his work with the guild. For many years, the guild became his sole focus, offering a distraction from his grief and a sense of purpose in a world that seemed to have turned its back on him.

At the age of twenty-one during his "final" mission for the thieves' guild, he was tasked with retrieving a valuable painting for a mysterious client, taking the journey from Calimport up the coast to Waterdeep. His journey was uneventful, allowing him ample time to scout the location where the painting was reportedly stored. For days, he observed the building, noting the patterns of its occupants and its security. Confident in his plan, Tovin decided to make his move during the day when the building was expected to be empty. He carefully made his way down the back alley, his eyes fixed on the window above that would serve as his entry point.

However, as he approached, he was suddenly set upon by a group of individuals, completely covered from head to toe. Caught off guard, Tovin had no time to react or defend himself. The attack was swift and brutal, leaving him barely conscious amidst the swelling and blood that obscured his vision. The assailants continued their assault for what felt like an eternity before finally fleeing, leaving Tovin battered and broken in the alley.

As he lay there, barely clinging to consciousness, Tovin felt a gentle touch. Two small hands carefully lifted his head and cradled him, providing a moment of unexpected comfort. A warmth enveloped him, and a blinding light flooded his vision, momentarily clearing the haze of pain and confusion. Through the haze, he caught a glimpse of a small, worried face—Lilly. With a strength that belied her size, she dragged him to the nearest temple, where she stayed by his side for days, tending to his wounds and offering him solace.

Once Tovin was strong enough to move, Lilly insisted on taking him to Gullykin to stay with her parents, where he could fully recover. The journey was a turning point in Tovin's life, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with unexpected love and a sense of belonging he had never known before. During the next five years Tovin would turn away from the thieves guild, fall in love, marry, and set out with Lilly on a life filled with adventure towards Baldur's Gate.

The Attack
Tovin doesn't remember much of the attack as he was quickly in and out of consciousness during the assault. He also doesn't know the who or why of it, but he has a firm suspicion that it was his own "family" - the Calimport Thieves Guild. He was very much attacked by the guild, but it was the Waterdeep branch. They were hired by a member of the Calimport branch, tipped off that Tovin would be in Waterdeep on a job in their territory. Why did one of his own people do this? Was it jealousy? Hatred? Was he used as a scapegoat for something? Guild politics? Tovin may never know and doesn't want to know. From the first time he fully laid eyes on Lilly, coming back into full consciousness laying in a bed in the Hospice of St. Laupsenn, he knew he would never go back to the guild. He knew that he wanted to live a different life than he had been living. Ever since then, he's kept his head down and has had Lilly to keep him on track from wondering astray.

Future
Having made his way to Baldur's Gate with his wife Lilly, they plan on adventuring around for many years before finally settling down and have young ones of their own. Tovin is a simple halfling and doesn't have much in mind in regards to his future other than living life to it's fullest hand in hand with Lilly. His thrill for adventuring and exploring is still in full bloom and will continue to climb the highest mountains, explore the darkest forests, and delve into the deepest caves in search of adventure and treasure to not only fund his exploits, but to have a savings for him, his wife, and future little ones to live comfortably.

Heirloom item
(Tovin and Lilly have matching wedding rings and is what we hope to get for their heirloom items. Don't much care for the sword or cloak)
Tovin's Wedding Ring - The ring, imbued by Lilly herself with powers granted by Ilmater, allows its wearer to be closer in mind, body, and soul to the wearer of its twin, no matter the distance between them.

Shieldbreaker - This shortsword was given to Tovin by the Thieves Guild and told it was his fathers. Its straight, double-edged blade is crafted from high-quality steel, offering a keen edge and good durability. The hilt is wrapped in worn leather, providing a secure and comfortable grip, while the guard is a simple, curved piece of metal that protects the user's hand. The pommel is a rounded, weighted piece, helping to balance the weapon and aiding in parries and ripostes.

Shadow's Shroud - Just a simple cloak imbued with the powers to help one turn invisible and blend in with the shadows.

Plot hooks
Could have some kind of interaction with the thieves guild. Perhaps they somehow heard he was still alive and came back to finish the job. Perhaps the Calimport guild leader would send someone to try to get him back to working for the guild and to tell him the truth of everything that had happened and why it happened. Perhaps the Calimport branch sent a death squad to track him down for abandoning the guild.
