A decree written in Dwarvish [Sshamath & Mist Lake]

Unread post by Kommando »

A flier written entirely in dwarvish bearing the symbol of the Murder Kiln Mercenary Company and the wax seal of Clan Murderbeard makes its appearances in Sshamath and the Mist Lake. The message was said to be left behind by an angry grumbling duergar in metal armor apparently responding to the discover of two Duergar corpses found out in the Underdark...

The Murder Kiln speak to the Duergar

Attention all sons and daughters of Deep Duerra and Laduguer. It has come to my attention that an ancient enemy seeks to once again enslave and eradicate our great people. As a proud champion of the Axe Princess, I cannot and will not be content with the resubjugation of our people under the squids. Some weaker and inferior ‘clans’ like shieldbreaker do not mind being assimilated and adopting elven deities. This is sickness, and it is deviant. I invite all those duergar who have the strength to fight for and protect our great destiny. The Murder Kiln will punish those who erroneously believe the Duergar to be easy prey. Do not be mistaken though as shame rests on the shoulders of those too weak to fend for themselves. Deep Duerra rewards strong duergar not those too feeble to grasp our destiny.

So decreed...

A stern, ash-skinned duergar stood in the dim light with the notice held in one calloused hand, the other tightening slowly around a molten-engraved staff darkened by use and age. His eyes moved over each line without haste, his expression hardening rather than changing, as though the words had not stirred anger in him so much as confirmed something old and unwelcome.

Rotgrim speaks true, he thought.

The illithids are an old wound, and wounds left untended only fester. Better war than chains. Better the grave than the collar. If the Murder Kiln means to remind the depths that duergar are not prey, then there is worth in that.

So be it.

He lowered the note.

I will find them. I will hear these words from their own mouths, and if their strength is as iron as their proclamation, my hand will join theirs against the squids.
"Are you Thor? God of Hammers?"
