BIOGRAPHY
Family
As an orphan who was abandoned deep within Waterdeep's City of the Dead, his blood relatives are unknown. Waterdeep is not exactly welcoming to the Church of Myrkul, favoring mainly gods of life and light like Lathander instead. However, secretive cells and cults do exist. The Monastery of the Last Candle, where no more than a dozen Monks and Priests worship worship within the shadows of a long forgotten, abandoned crypt, is what he would call "home". The monks found and raised him in the faith, true to their belief that "No soul should enter the City of Judgment unheard".
History
The young Planetouched immediately displayed aptitude and attitude for study and hard work, with strong sense of duty and uncanny concentration abilities as well as an excellent memory. His slender build better suited a combat style relying on speed and agility rather than cumbersome armor and weapons wielded with brute force, while his wisdom and faith allowed him powerful spellcasting from a comparatively young age onwards. His name was chosen by his brothers in faith, for his ability to smoothly get any amount of work done, no matter how hard, connected with the harrowing experience that ultimately ended in his deliverance to the temple. Despite his uncommon capabilities, Brother Harrow never displayed any form of ambition, seemingly content with perfecting the art of taking care of his duties. Bodies recovered, unknown dead identified, final letters delivered, unfinished business settled, executions witnessed, graveyards maintained, exploited Undead put to rest, epitaphs recorded...Until he was chosen to look for a member of the clergy lost in Baldur's Gate in the chaotic aftermath of the Fall.
Future and Plot Hooks
Even once the whereabouts of the lost brother are clarified, and the proper rituals performed, the duty never ends: promises (of and to the dead) still need to be kept, murder victims still need to receive justice, proper funerary rites still need to be performed, wills still need to be honored, last messages should still reach loved ones, the unsanctionedly, disrespectfully awaken restless should be laid to rest and so on.
Furthermore, Cyric is an usurper of the Lord's portfolio and needs to be opposed: Holy Death is an inevitable, cold and universal law, not the disrespectful and undignified byproduct of murder, madness and cruelty. Banites and former Banites are responsible of the Fall, having turned divine stewardship into a path to personal power and tyranny into mere conquest, just like Bhaalists turned murder into slaughter and depravity. They both exploited and dishonored Death with their doings, therefore he despises them as much as Cyric and his lot.
And Death keeps perfect accounts...
Heirloom item
Harrow is a man with a frugal lifestyle, and very few possessions. Priests of Myrkul are dressed in fine garbs, use excellent equipment and are paid handsomely...but the formers stem from respect towards the institution they represent, and the latter is mostly paid back to the Church itself. However, if it were at all possible, he would love to retrieve the Holy Symbol (or any other significant personal item) of his lost brother, and carry it with him. "Carrying the hands of those who can no longer reach".
