Location 43 - Eastern Sharktooth woods
The eastern end of the Sharptooth woods, seems to be a battleground between the orcs, the fey and the local wildlife, there does appear to be a waterway in the battlegrounds near an ominous cave.

Location 2 out of 5
You're right out in the sticks and a long distance from the Trade way or any other major roads, so best be prepared to defend yourself from all sides.

Catches 1 out of 5
The water way is very shallow, so again minnows, frogs and sticklebacks are your best catches.

Problems 2 out of 5
Your main problems are the trenches, ditches and the battlegrounds of this area. All sides will see you as fair game, so watch yourself from orcs, fey, dire bears, hydras and those godsdamned wisps

Total Score 5 out of 15
Unless you wish the fight in the trenches, avoid like the plague.

Location 44 - The Southern Sharptooth Woods/Gullykin Woods
Towards the Southern end of the Sharptooth woods, close to the village of Gullykin, is a decent fishing stream

Location 4 out of 5
Relatively safe from the more northern battlefields and surrounded by herb patches, with a path not too far from Gullykin, this stream isn't too badly located

Catches
4 out of 5
Decent fish stocks, assuming the Hinfolk haven't get to the fish too early, you might struggle with finding the larger fish, but there is a wide selection

Problems
5 out of 5
The only problems out here are hay fever, the occasional territorial rat and any allergies to herbs

Total Score 13 out of 15
Another good place for beginners, and plenty of herbs about to gather if you find the spot occupied by hinfolks.

Location 45 - Doron Amar - Outside the wall, river banks
After getting permission from the council, for these reviews, Doron Amar does offer a selection of fishing spots, this is the first one is along the river banks before the bridge in to the city.

Location 4 out of 5
Not much protection compared to the rest of Doron Amar and the natural river banks can be a bit muddy and slidey with the variety of fish.

Catches 4 out of 5
Decent fish stocks with the plentiful supply of the river, doubt the elves could make a dent in the local populations.

Problems
5 out of 5
The only real problems are the limitations, outsiders are allowed to fish here, provided they do not exceed the limit, which I think is roughly 1000 coins worth of fish.

Total Score
13 out of 15
Another good place for beginners with the peace and serenity of the woodlands and elven city.

Location 46 - Doron Amar - River bank walk
After entering Doron Amar proper, there is a paved path that follows the river bank, that offers many opportunities for fishing.

Location
5 out of 5
Slightly different view of the river and a chance to experience the views of Doron Amar

Catches 4 out of 5
Again, a wide variety of fish, just limited by the catch limit of around 1000 coins.

Problems 5 out of 5
Plenty of spaces, you might get the occasional local enquiring about you, but just remember, they may mostly speak in the elven tongue, but their keen ears do listen in the common tongue,

Total Score 14 out of 15
An excellent beginner location for fishing, just let down by there being no elven crafted fishing rods nor sources of bait.
I cannot be lost, because I am here, though I may be geogrpahically misplaced.

Location 47 - Doron Amar - Above the waterfall
Turns out I made a mistake, seems like the blacksmith does in fact sell fishing gear and bait (not as good as Greenest's though), though don't expect much for your fish, elves do have their standards.

Location 4 out of 5
Whilst there is a rest sight not far from the river, and the views are gorgeous, the river above the waterfall flows too fast to be safe for any line or fish. Expect to be running down to the riverside path to try and retrieve your gear.

Catches 2 out of 5
Any decent fish is gonna be swept out over the waterfall in any time.

Problems
4 out of 5
The only real problems are the limitations, outsiders are allowed to fish here, provided they do not exceed the limit, and the waterfall, whilst spectacular, does provide a hindrance to any fish

Total Score 10 out of 15
It's easier to fish in the lower parts than ta get your lines snagged in the waterfall. This sorta concludes the Doron Amar review, as whilst there are other possible fishing sites, they are limited to the citizens of Doron Amar, and not open to outsiders.

Location 48 - Roaringshore - Docks
Well since I've covered just about all the rivers, lakes and ponds between Baldur's Gate and Nashkel, it's time to look north, and well pull up my britches and look at the more unsavoury fishing spots that are a boat ride from the docks at Baldur's Gate.

Location
3 out of 5
It's a town of pirates so it's both safe and unsafe depending on your actions, just be careful, this is a town of folks wanting to dominate the rest and the careful not so clear signs of dominance are all over. Just be expected to be challenged on everything, just try to ignore the idiots and be respectful to the more dominant pirates.

Catches 5 out of 5
This is so far the third location that offers reasonable salt water fishing, so expect plenty of decent catches, just be careful which dock you choose to fish off, since some of them are active for ships coming in and out, or used for disposal of various things like rubbish, crap and the occasional idiot who cheated the wrong local.

Problems 3 out of 5
Well there are a number of problems with Roaringshore, whilst you're not gonna be attacked immediately (unless you're an elf) you're gonna be challenged by just about every land lubber there is on the docks. The locals will probably try to steal, cheat or scam you out of any fish you catch. And the so-called merchants are some of the worst for dud coins, half change and lousy prices.

Total Score 11 out of 15
If you want to fish here, maybe a change of attire might help, don't go too over board on the shinies, unless you know where they all are but don't look like some beggar out the gutter, something simple and try to act like you mean to be there. Just ignore what the folks on the other docks are doing, it'll keep your mind clear, oh and avoid fishing at kicking out time for the taverns, nothing worse than half a dozen drunks trying to give you the worst advice on fishing.

Oh and avoid if you're an elf, they seem to have some vendetta against elves, unless you're one of the locals.

Location 49 - Coast Way Crossing, north of the Fields of Dead
Well... finally good to get out of the prying eyes of Roaringshore and along to the coastway crossing over the Winding River on the Winding Water to Baldur's Gate Trade Way. I don't know what happened upstream, but there does seem an odd smell from the river.

Location 2 out of 5
You're out in the sticks, with the only nearby safe spot being Roaringshore, so not the safest of locations

Catches 1 out of 5
Something about that smell, and the marshy banks seem to make the fish not hook, maybe something upriver is affecting the fish population

Problems 2 out of 5
And since the coast way has been largely quiet, there seems to be a tribe of bugbears and giant grey squishy things that have moved into the area.

Total Score
5 out of 15
Not a good place to fish in, seems something affected the river in ages past.

Location 50 - The ruins of Winding Water
I know it's be ages since I left, but seeing it destroyed, still hurts. The remnants of one of the villages on the Coastway road may still yield some fishing spots.

Location
3 out of 5
The remains of the village are somewhat safe and defensible from the outside, but the only real fishing spots are the rotten fishing dock, the broken walls by the graveyard and the entrance bridge.

Catches 1 out of 5
Something about the water seems ta make fish scarce in this area, not sure what.

Problems 2 out of 5
Not sure if the water is tainted somehow or it's the monster infested forests to the north but there's northing to fish for here.

Total Score
6 out of 15
Another lost village, but something about to scare the fish off

Location 51 - Downstream of Kraak Helzak
Well trying to find the source of the Winding Waters, led me to one of the possible sources (paths go every way but follow the river)

Location 2 out of 5
There's a decent market for fish, but it's let down by being in the middle of the Trollclaws, so a bit difficult to get there for most people unless you are very sneaky, well experienced in combat or willing to use the Rocky Creek Armoured wagons.

Catches 0 out of 5
The streams flowing from Kraak seem very red and filled with the outflow of the town. Must be contaminated with outflow of the ironworks, the mushroom farms or the tavern. Anyway you ain't finding live fish.

Problems 2 out of 5
You've got trolls to deal with since any fishable sections are outside the walls of Kraak, and the pollution and outflow of the dwarven town.

Total Score 4 out of 15
A dead stream, troll infestation and an expensive route to get here.

Location 52 - The Southern Highmoors
After a few ventures here with others, I decided to investigate the fishing seperately

Location 2 out of 5
Well after the uphill trek to get to the moors, and sneaking around all the gribblies to find a possible bit of marsh to fish with.

Catches 0 out of 5
It's hill top marsh and peat land, so nothing to find except small fish, barely worth the trek

Problems 1 out of 5
Well after all that wading through stirges, hobgoblins and those smegging fricking damnable Whisps makes stealth fishing near impossible.

Total Score 3 out of 15
Not worth the trek uphill, maybe the other side of the marshes.

Location 53 - The High Moor Zigurat
And there's a ziggurat in the middle of the marshlands, how long it's been here, I've no idea.

Location
1 out of 5
Well worse than the southern High moors in that you have to wade through the peatlands to get to this place, and it's a cursed place.

Catches 0 out of 5
This place is a defiled mess of magic and undead, barely any life remains in the area.

Problems 1 out of 5
Undead, vampires, and other grotesques, nothing worth fishing here for.

Total Score 2 out of 15
Unless you here to cull the undead that infest this section of the High Moors, there's no reason for fishing.

Location 54 - The Boareskyr Bridge remnants
The remnants of a fort and bridge across the Winding Water river

Location 2 out of 5
Along the trade way, lies the ruins of a village, fort and bridge across the river, some of the people who live near here say it was the site of a battle with a god, which explains the mess

Catches -1 out of 5
Here's a sketch of a fish I caught from the river, which explains why I'm giving this place a worse than zero score.
Image
DO NOT EAT THE FISH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Problems
2 out of 5
Apart from the locals, there's no reason to stay and fish these tainted waters

Total Score
3 out of 15
The taint of godswar has contaminated this land for who knows how long.

Location 55 - The Soubar Swamps
Down from the high moors and Boareskyre bridge, is a small swamp infested with lizards.

Location
3 out of 5
Well if you want to get from the tainted lands of the bridge to the somewhat civil area of Soubar is a peat marshland.

Catches 2 out of 5
Well there does appear to be good fishing, except those blasted lizards kept stealling them off the hook.

Problems 3 out of 5
The lizards whilst numerous and cheeky, they are weak and somewhat easy to deal with, just a pain to fish whilst suffering slings and arrows

Total Score 8 out of 15
Not worth the constant annoyance.

Location 56 - The settlement of Soubar
Must not start a one gnome war, gonna get more people killed than saved The settlement of Soubar, if you know about it, you know what to. If you don't, then don't look like trouble, don't start trouble, don't cause trouble and you won't be in trouble.

Location
4 out of 5
Despite it's reputation, Soubar has a thriving market place, just don't look too closely at the wares, and there is a relatively safe fishing spot inside the walls of Soubar. Why they put it next to the fighting pit of the beast lord, I don't know. Still, it's safe as long as you are not Trouble. The locals will size you up for trouble, but if you're civil and not a threat, they'll leave you alone... mostly.

Catches 4 out of 5
Well I'll be, for all the reputation of Soubar, they do have a fish farm, brown trout, but it's a small fish farm.

Problems 2 out of 5
Apart from the locals, and the various unsavoury activities, it does have a thriving market. Just don't come here if you can't turn off the goodie two shoes part of your mind.

Total Score 10 out of 15
A surprising gem in the rough of the northern areas, Soubar is a safe fishing spot... to an extent
