Background
Born into the suffocating matriarchy of Menzoberranzan, Malaggar was groomed to serve as a courtier, skald, and martial showpiece for female nobility. Blessed with towering physical strength and a commanding, hypnotic presence, he harbored a seething hatred for Lolth’s priestesses and lacked the cautious restraint to suffer male subjugation in silence. His rebellion was sudden and bloody. During an opulent noble assembly, Malaggar wove subversive, anti-matron anthems into a soaring performance, igniting an armed mutiny among marginalized male conscripts. Branded a traitor to the Spider Queen and marked for death, he carved a path through city defenses with brute force and vanished into the lightless trenches of the deep Underdark.
Far from the reach of Menzoberranzan, deep within the forgotten subterranean rift known as the Chasm of Screams, Malaggar dedicated his blade and voice to Vhaeraun, the Masked Lord of male drow and shadow-strife. To acquire the lethal power necessary to dismantle Lolthite supremacy, Malaggar enacted the forbidden rite of the Acolyte of the Skin, binding the living, flayed hide of an abyssal fiend directly to his flesh as an instrument of unholy war. The fiendish graft fused violently with his sinew, while he swore the dark martial oaths of the Blackguard to champion Vhaeraun's crusade for male elven parity.
