The Earth Chronicles - A comprehensive Survey of herbs

Unread post by Gorebash »

This is the second of the chronicles of Sordoc and an attempt to catelogue the various numbers and varieties of herbs that are found around the Sword's coast. This is not a list of the herbs and their uses as there are countless numbers of books on the usage of herbs, this is just the wanderings of an old gnome trying to find all the best gathering spots. The information within this chronicle should be correct to the summer of 1362. New Spots may turn up or things change.

For those who wish to use this chronicle as a guide to gathering herbs, please remember the golden rules of gathering:
1) Take only what you need, no more, so as to maintain a chance to gather more herbs tomorrow
2) Do not take from private property without permission and perhaps a tithe
3) Do not damage the herb beds so that others have a chance to gather

Location 1 - The shrine of Suffering's gardens

For those who live within and around Baldur's Gate, will have at least some point walked past the gardens of the Shrine of Suffering, a great starting place for herb gathering. Though rich in herbs, it is best to pay your respects to the temple and pay a tithe before you harvest the herb gardens.

Herbs in the Upper Garden:

Healling Moss
Balsam
Woundwort
Bloodflower
Betony
Angelica

Herbs in the Lower Garden:

Poppys
Bloodpurge
Vrukweed
Henbane
Nettles (Suspect this is a planted weed by nefarious folks)

Fruits and plants in the Shrine of Suffering gardens
Wheat
Apple
