Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
Hello, people?
I know we are drow, but this is relatively commercial city. Conclave and Charnag Maelthra will simply not approve of any raids that may blow cover of Sshamath or give it a threat to the city. The gain is not as good as the effort. That is why slave trade is pretty regulated to be minimal and simply between the local old Houses. You need many paperwork to sanction one slaver raid.
And Leslie... Do not taunt the evil epics in reserve.

There won't be surface raids for slaves. Think about how much of a pain in the butt it is to get through to the surface, not to mention the MILES of travelling. It's not economical when there are easier slaves to be had, particularly those bought from other cities in the UD. Any raid to the surface will require DM oversight, along with a real -reason- that covers the potential cost in lives and materials. A band of advernturesome (and mildly suicidal) group of drow who come up to the surface are one thing, but most of the population of Sshamath just aren't interested in wasting their time and gold.

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
Are there any plans to do away with the Underdark as part of the server? I've been playing for quite some time and it seems like there's never over five players down here.
I'm not at all suggesting it be done away with, but I'm worried.

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
theres actually a decent number of drow now (total) they just all dont play at the same time
but reading back at this thread something made me curious...
drow cant raid without reason but surfacers can go down to the UD just because? well what if a drow goes up to the surface just because and doesnt raid or kill anyone, they didnt do anything wrong would they still get in trouble?
i mean i dont see why both sides cant just enjoy the sights
(other than maybe the locals will try to kill them
)

what about the people who go from the surface to the UD all the time like its a summer home?Katzenjammer wrote:...Think about how much of a pain in the butt it is to get through to the surface, not to mention the MILES of travelling. Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
Drow are kill on sight on the surface because of the nature of the myths surrounding their kind among the local populations. Humans are not kill on sight in the Underdark because their kind of seen on an every day basis traveling to and from the city by means of mostly telepotation.
Drow on the other hand ARE allowed to travel to the surface... but be prepared to RP your situation if you do. What Katzenjammer is referring to is the fact that there will be no mass raids against towns or guilds by the Conclave or its various schools and guilds.
Like anything else... use good judgment and ensure fun is had by all.

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
This seems like the best place to ask so I will give it a try since I have been inactive for the past few months.
If my drow wizard wants to contact the head of the school of mages, to whom should I send it to? I am currently unaware which DMs are taking care of the UD this period.

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
The leader of the School of Mages is Master of Mages Guldor Zauviir (CE male drow). We don't currently have all of the Conclave members in-game, as NPCs, but we can get Zauviir in if the School of Mages faction ever gets active again.Eldebryn wrote:This seems like the best place to ask so I will give it a try since I have been inactive for the past few months.

Both the School of Mages and the School of Necromancy have been player-led in the past, but both have since fallen inactive.
If players would like to start either of them up again, they are the primary means of influencing politics in Sshamath and playing the "drow political games." The Schools are, essentially, Drow Houses, after all.
You do not need to be a wizard to be affiliated with a School -- but you do need to be a drow, and wizards are the equivalent of what Lolth priestesses would be in a Lolthite House. If that makes sense to you?
No DM is ever "assigned" to the Underdark anymore (we've had bad experiences in the past with "Underdark DMs"), but most are willing to assist down below. I think DM Sword has been relatively active in the Underdark recently, and DM Vendetta and X_to_the_Unknown also run events down there on occasion.
Generally, though, any DM is potentially an Underdark DM, so just get in touch with one that's on. Some are more familiar with drow Lore than others, but all of them are capable storytellers and event-runners.

The DM's are still very helpful in the UD
I have had quite a few questions lately due to my long absence from the game, and the questions I did ask were answered promptly by the DM's
All hail the Underdark!!!

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
yes theres activities down theres , as far as my memory goes Karmina participated in :
- Bat Lord hunt ( level 15ish, trouble arise in the goblin dens , bats fly evrywhere , who could it be ? the Bat lord of course !)
- The Return of the bat Lord ( level 17ish , not full event but long run across Ud terrains and major assault of unique monsters ending in an blood bath at bebilith map
)
-The fallen sisters of Illistrae ( level 18 , troubles stir in varallas , large party sent to invistigate , long fallen sisters of illistrae ( banshees) have awoken , 3 factions of them must be dealt with)
- Ithlic wants dragon Brain ( level 21 ) the ithlid in saarmath needed a fresh shadow dragon brain , an epic party left saarmath , hunted down the beast to misty lake and brought back the precious brain within the 24 hours delay)
add to that an incalculous number of times we've been assaulted in various mini-event- assault type of DM interactions at toughs spots but rewarding challenging tunnels battles and 5 or 6 events i missed/ wasnt part of, but saw the end of it either at varallas or saarmath
im sure theres people on the surface that have like a quest a week or somthing , but on the other hand, we in the UD arent the most orginized group of people i've noticed , in general anyway , nor the most of actives on forum ... im sure we, the players, can improve on that down there creating more opportunities for us all.
On a second note i suggest that all mages should join the same school or house were to few down there to bring the full depth of the houses and schools , im willing to play any role in a given school but i feel we shouldnt be doing our seperate things , we could regroup all caster to one school and maybe create a litle comunity of sort ? couldnt we even unlock the race prequesite for like the school of mages by giving lets say an imaskari human caster a post of school's cook for example, its not prestigious but when even the subordonates of a school are casters , its kind of a statement of power to. i dont have enough lore to know if it'd be posible but it would be nice.

Re: Were did our UnderDark Dms go?
Actually, a player has expressed interest in starting the School of Mages up once more. The School of Necromancy remains, so far as I know (and with no pun intended), dead.
If you would like to get it going again, by all means, go for it. The Schools are very important to Sshamath (providing "House"/"Qu'ellar"-style roleplay for people in a city where Houses are close to meaningless otherwise), and give the DMs easy-access to a group for events.
