DM Rumors of Baldur's Gate

The Midnight Sun Diamond was placed on display for a single afternoon in the Palace District beside the Counting House. Jewelers in attendance of the small fair commented on a very good days sales. The current location of the Midnight Sun Diamond and where it will be displayed next is a well guarded secret.

Those nearby Baldur's Gate will have noticed what appeared to be a huge red bird flying North, this would also have been noticed by people at the Friendly Arms Inn.

The offical story is a Red Dragon attacked the Thayan Enclave last night entering the city in human form, after a heated argument the creature shifted and attacked those inside. The Fist were alerted and the Dragon was forced to flee. The fist are refusing to disclose any further information but some people are claiming a few 100 people were killed, while others are saying no one was harmed - the minor damage was quickly repaired and the patrols at the city have been increased until further notice.

The Fist put out a warrent for Terri's arrest (of The Phoenix Company) who later turned herself in and was allowed to leave. Unoffical reports are claiming she indeed let the Dragon in and was spotted with Vendor - some are also claiming she murdered a young girl orhpane and killed her father too, the fist are refusing to comment on either matter.

Furthermore Half Orcs are having a hard time with racisum and insults being thrown at them, two Half Orc bodies were recovered from the sewers last night - these attacks on the Half Orcs are believed to be provoked by the recent Orc attacks outside of the city.

Smoke was seen rising near the southern bridge of Baldur's Gate shortly after the trial of Terri Lalani. Rumors speak of a mob that gathered outside of the Phoenix Company Lodge. The angry group armed with torches demanded to be allowed entrance to the building. When they were denied entrance by the Phoenix Company employed guards, they proceeded to attempt to burn the property down. The Flaming Fist arived shortly after and with the magical assistance of passersby were able to get the fire under control. One carelessly cast whirlwind spell only managed to fuel the flames injuring Azriana Sumormoon a refuge of Kheldrivver and guard of the Phoenix Company. Those that pass by the lodge would clearly see the cosmetic damage caused by the fire. The Flaming Fist is keeping a very close eye on the property while its fate is determined and there investigation in to the matter is concluded.

Herald's from the Palace set out early in the morning proclaiming in the streets a message easily found distributed throughout Baldur's Gate.

have been found guilty of harboring and summoning a hostile dragon into Baldur's Gate, subsequent damage of property belonging to the Thayan Enclave and disorderly conduct, are hereby banished from Baldurs Gate and all controlled territory under threat of swift execution.

A fire broke out at the Helm and Cloak Inn several days ago. The damage done would of been much worse had it not been for the quick response of the Flaming Fist. Citizens of the palace district are giving there thanks on this day to the talented wizards who extinguished the blaze before it spread. The Helm and Cloak has also reopened for business. However many rooms will need renovating and refurnishing. No investigation is being made in the cause of the fire as the proprietor adamantly insists an accident in the kitchen is what started the blaze.

A fortnight ago a massive and mysterious mushroom cloud appeared out to sea. The cloud some claim may have been nearly a league in girth and was seen by thousands of citizens along the swords coast. Today officers of the Flaming Fist assigned to investigate the bizarre occurrence have officially released there findings to the public.

"The cloud was a natural phenomenon likely caused by seismic activity on the sea floor. It is in no way dangerous and has in fact created some truly spectacular sunsets to be enjoyed by the good people of the swords coast."

A mining expedition never return home to East Gate. It appears they were attacked by lizardmen, details however are vague at best. The dwarf miners were not missed for over a fortnight and are now presumed dead. Wagons were found in Cloakwood forest but no bodies were ever recovered. Two adventures that were acting as guards are also missing and possibly dead.

A number of minors who vanished on a failed expedition and were thought dead, have returned home. Despite extensive questioning the Dwarves have little to no memory of the incident.

As dusk fell over the great city a quiet voice sang near its main gates. The voice was beautiful, youthful and most of all lonely. A sorrowful tune carried through the air and while none could recall the words sung, The deep well of despair they felt inside remaind. Where is the singer or who sings such hauntingly beautiful songs remains a mystery.

Residents in the east district of Baldur's Gate were awoken to a terrible sight and a horrible smell. The burning body of a yet unidentified man was found hanging very near to the Elfsong Tavern. While there are many wild rumors circulating, no solid information has been gathered. Citizens of Baldur's Gate are told to remain calm as the Flaming Fist are investigating the incident.

There is unrest in the Dock District of Baldur's Gate. Rioting dock workers attacked representatives of the N&W Trade Company, clashed with the Flaming Fist and damaged local establishments. The unrest was caused when the N&W Trade Company was forced to inform there employees that there payroll had been stolen. The Trade Company simply had no coin in the coffers to pay there dock workers. Details of the crime are scarce. The payroll was said to have been taken from the Company Flag Ship while it waited to dock. A number of crew where also found dead or injured.

Some have wondered what is an ordinary day like in the life of an average citizen of Baldurs Gate. Below is such a tale until one Player Character decides to make the mundane just a bit more... adventurous? ((thank you to this player))



At mid-morning in Baldur's Gate, the East Gate Markets are busy with merchants, farmers and the daily needs of the small folk from across the realm. With the arrival of the harvest months a cool Autumn air freshens the market and with that comes the sale of a very fine item, Green Apples. These wonderful apples are crisp under their shiny light green skin with a fine sweet taste and very small seeds. The market streets clamor with local orchards and farmers selling these delights. "Best meal for your child", "Finest for pies" and "Buy by the Dozen" street merchants call out, or at least till a small argument broke out between Cid Seedfellow and a customer named Alejandro.

"You!" Shouted the crooked nose farmer towards Alejandro, who had just purchased a sack of twelve wonderful Green Apples, but was trying to stack three additional apples under his feathered cap.
"Me?" Questioned Alejandro with a long drawn out vowel.

Cid Seedfellow was furious and spoke even louder. "Give me back me apples, ya apple picker!"
"Haven't you 'eard of a bakers dozen. That be thirteen and not twelve". Replied the scallywag, with an impish grin.
"You took fifteen!" It was about this time that The local City Watchman had crossed the busy yard towards the Farmer and Alejandro.

Alejandro bowed deeply as the Watchman approached, the three extra apples falling from inside his hat causing him to have to juggle them briefly in his hands. Though once the stray fruit where uncontrolled his impish grin remained and he explained to the Watchman "The sign say a dozen apple. Which be thirteen"

The Watchman shrugged, clearly this made sense and looked to Cid Seedfellow whom was irritated beyond ration. "Im not a baker!" proclaimed Cid.
"Then why sell apples?" Pondered Alejandro
"To make pies!" Cid stamped his foot.
"And your not a baker?" Alejandro had clearly connected the dots for the curious Watchman and this argument was sound. Until a frustrated Cid pointed back defiantly to Alejandro, eyes upon the Watchman "He took fifteen, not twelve, not a baker twelve, fifteen! Wonderful Green Apples."

The Watchman eyed Alejandro who still had in his possession a bag of twelve, and three additional wonderful Green Apples. "Oi, ya fella give em back dem two" said the Watchman as he counted on his fingers.

Alejandro paused a moment, thought and then brought the spare apples to his lips and with all watching, licked them. All three Green Apples in a strait row then rubbed them on his whiskered cheeks. Cid was beside himself in shock while the Watchman quickly stepped forward proclaiming "Hold still ya blighter!" Though Alejandro wasn't clearly good with authority and surely now was not a great time to start listening to them, so he chose to turn on his heels and with a quick step dashed! Though the flight was short for after a few full speedy steps Alejandro came face forward into the side of a rather large wagon which knocked him clear onto his rump. He was dazed a moment his eyes catching one of the Green Apples rolling down some cobblestone before his vision was broken by the City Watchman standing over him, a forced grin on his face.

With two firm hands on his lapels, Alejandro was lifted to his feet by the Guardsman and firmly placed upon them. With a snicker the scallywag thumbed over his shoulder pointing to the ox dragging the cart and eyes fixed upon the Guard "I seam to run into your Mom"

The Watchman was not amused, and with a quick march took the scallywag to the cells for the end of the Tenday.
