Aetius Cento waits until the next moment in which he has the audience of his Mirari compatriots. Then, in that moment, he begins a long tale—acted out in mime and with flair, utilizing a number of simple illusions via magic as well as some slight movements of the hand to create engaging shadow puppets:

"My fellows...I did meet an interesting woman in the streets of the Gate, one Marigold...and during our introductory conversation, we were privy to a number of rumor-like talk between Fist guards and commoners of the East Gate. We decided to accompany each other to further reveal the mystery being set upon us...in our path we met with a religious sort, one Tauro Brutalfury, who did lent his fortitude to our mission.
Image
We at first questioned the Fist, who was very reserved, but did explain to us a rumor was growing that strange things did happen at night—and within the shadows—amongst the farm lands east of the Gate.

Image

We furthered out search for the true knowledge behind the rumors by questioning the farmers themselves.

Image

Within the fields themselves, there was little to be learned. However, it is certain that crops are returning to normal, after a long year of drought.

Image

We collectively reckoned that whatever was occurring in the farmlands must be happening at night, so we found a good position to what and watch whatever might appear...

Image

We waited long into the night, hoping that if the rumors of strange shadow things did happen, we would observe and learn more, dispelling the rumors and act upon the reality...whatever that would entail.

Image

Alas, nothing more than a bit of odd wind did come to our attention. "

Aetius ends his moment with the Mirari, by saying this:

"My studies into the shadow magic, the shadow dance, has prepared me to engage whatever may be brewing near our adopted home of Baldur's Gate...however, I entreat you all to be extra aware of your surroundings, for whatever is developing here, we, the Mirari, shall be prepared to unravel it's mystery...when the time comes."

"Why for do thems be headin out?" a drunken patron asks.

The merchant shakes his head. "Dey had some dressed up dandy wit dem. " says the merchant. "I wonder if they aint gonna go build a theatre somewheres up north. Mabye Triel. But dey was goin thru dem dead fields ta get where ever deys a goin. No guards nor mercenaries niether. "

An off duty guard grunts at that. "You're a right fool if you think THAT group needs protection. " He says. "They might look petty doing tricks in the street for a copper, but they are not without skill. Do not underestimate them."
Some laugh and some nod yes or no, but all go about whispering about the new events.

Aetius Cento walks through the East District, mind wandering about the Netherese...when a sight never before seen, enters his view:

Image

Thinking he's seeing double, but can't believe the sight, he walks on, rubbing his eyes, and mumbles to himself...

"Maybe a good night's rest is in order...either that, or the Mirari have got competition..."

Having recently met the acquaintance of the mage named Charraj in the town of Beregost—where the two chatted for some time over existential problems while drying their cloths at the hearth of Feldpost's Inn—who was eager to show and explain his Magic Use License, Aetius Cento, Adept to the Mirari, did meet with a Civil Servant, to acquire such a license.

"Well, it is an interesting document....and the handwriting IS mysterious in it's...unlegible...ness...," he mutters to himself, standing outside in the streets of Beregost.

"Can't hurt to have on hand...," he says, stashing the scroll into his pouch, while continuing his journey south to Nashkel.

For a moment, he stops on the edge of town, and looks back towards the city, wondering if he'll see that prickly mage with the desire to do nothing for no one, sometime, again....

Drawn to a light, one discovers shadows deep, old memories return.

Nemna sends a word to her Mirari friends to ponder on more shadow sightings near the Gate and FAI. If she would meet with the Mirari, a tale might be told.
At lenght, she might tell of an exiled mage Charraj on whom she walked at FAI as he was selling magical robes of considerable quality and of other mages she met that day, Merek and Lillith of Candlekeep, and their discoveries, which left more questions than answers, after they followed a wisp in the night... Not unlike the one Nemna seen the day she travelled to a Plane of Shadow for the first time, or rather the same wisp.

She would also mention a cave under the well in BG farmalnds, tainted with dark magic, but leading to nothing of note.

A deal for knives, rumor followed to source and a devil you know

Nemna meets a band of adventurers, who are willing to take a ride North, intrigued by rumors of (past)troubles on the road's to and the sightings in a small town of Triel. Nemna happily offers them a teleport service to BG in return for a share of expenses. Judging by Aetius' report, the place is more than a little troubled.
Image
It happens that some adventurers are already about, searching for clues on a rumor of imp causing troubles or something like that.
Image
But there is more to it and Nemna works to catch up on the story without appearing too inquisitive.
Image
The adventurers need to see the grainlord, who is told to favour bards and other news bringers. Nemna decides that while a Mirari is a prise worth inviting, she doesn't realy have a bussiness with the lord, so she waits with others who didn't pass the guards inspection.
Image
The group learns two things: the lord is mad (like crazy) and he wants them to find an imp, that was reported by townspeople. They are directed to a stone building near the edge of town.
Image
Inside they are met with suspicion by a very suspicious person in a very suspicious room. The warlock soon admits himself and a series of horrors commences, that Nemna is partly oblivious of, letting others fight hellspawn in close quarters.
Image
In the basement, a strange altar of a god no one seem to know.
Image
Up, to the attic, the group finds a beautiful winged woman trapped inside a magical barrier.
Image
It happens that a certain two people are know to the outsider and that Nemna becomes a wittness to a part of more extended plot, something that Candlekeep mages might want to learn about as it concerns them also.

However, for the coming days Fist are seen harassing any suspected Teiflings in the area, and anyone with pronounced bumps on their heads, cleft foots, or excessively dark or reddish complexions.

On this day, the Mirari are gathered in the open plaza of the east district. Seeing the bushes near them rustle, a hand appears from the shadows and beckons them toward it—it is Aetius, hiding along the edges of the plaza, with his hood pulled low.

He explains the rumors heard spread amongst the commonfolk—the Fist are on the lookout for a unnamed tiefling, or any planetouched that might match their discription...and Aetius, is taking no chances to be harassed.

He remains as best hidden as a man used to the attention granted a performer, as he can.

The Mirari make an effort to leave the Gate quickly, with Aetius, to travel to Candlekeep. A teleport spell is used to take the group of five...but on arrival, there are only four!

The Mirari look around...but Aetius is not to be found!

Mirari in their place wondered, how it was even possible, but the night on Lion's Way was not getting younger and Nemna urged the rest to make haste, hoping to brief them once they came inside the gates. This time, however, guide Laitae happen on them herself in keeps grounds. Mirari were shown to some sort of conference room, where they had a chance to converse with the guide at last...

The Mirari continue their search for the missing Aetius Cento.

Initiate Kellern enlists the help of two brave adventurers, Arayth Vanaan and Vrey Admione, who promise to keep an eye out for a man meeting Aetius' description.

By chance, his acquaintance Aedesius Silverscale of the Merchant's Guild comes upon them as they are discussing the matter. Aedesius is naturally keen to learn of the results of the Mirari's investigations into the recent merchant's death, as the murdered man, Armand, was a colleague of his.

Amaer promises that they will let Aedesius know when they find anything.

Meanwhile, Nemna and Elery went on their own investigation, not for rogue Aetius, but of rumors in Northern farmlands. They were given support by some friendly elves of Doron Amar Elery knew. Following a trail to supposed lair of shadow cultist, two Mirari and three elves had come to a lively crypt in Fields of the Dead.
Image

While the group discussed a way to approach it, something happened upon them, a man was carried in their midst by a winged creature, which appeared to be Erynees.

The two Mirari found themselves helping elves and their human friend, even if it was not what Nemna initialy hoped for, but a good thing to do nevertheless.

Nemna learns of troubles North and that all kind of knightly types from near Baldur's Gate are preparing to face some orc menace. Being a merchant of sorts, she seises an opportunity to peddle some magical items for a war effort. Even though knights of the Silver Rose shown no interest in her wares, she met their commander, who surprisedly recognised her as a Mirari and asked if they would want to help Triel with whatever their talents could be used for there. Nemna promised to bring the question to the next Mirari gathering. She did find a byer too, later at Friendly Arm's.

Mirari were still missing Aetius and Amaer's efforts to consult shady types were not fortunate. At least he escaped with his life... Mirari had an encounter with black orcs before, no one was looking for a fight with them, but all aggree than news from North are concerning. Lady Elvina happen about the gathering with preparations for her order's campaign and assembled Mirari have a chance to inquire with her. They aggree to help, yet promised nothing.
Nemna did travel to Triel before, that time it lead to devils agents, but the town itself was quite pleasant, she would like to visit it again.
After some time there Nemna didn't doubt that in order to stay in Triel for this orcs invasion and live to tell the tale she would need to have her wits about her, yet most of the time she was doing nothing more than waiting for news while enjoying orchards and going through spells, pondering what preparations are be best in case of massive attack, aside from those Uriel Honourblade found useful last time. A commander of sorts for combined forces, other than Fist and mercenaries, if there even was a person in charge, at least he had a plan for defence. There were a lot of familiar faces but little certainty. Nemna did not fancy a war and would stay out of fight, however, by a few reports that reach Triel it was imposible.
She ponder again, why people are to stay and face such unfavourable odds. She was confident enough in her spells to not fear immediate threat from an attack, or she would leave before the town was surrounded, even if others would not.
The battle, when it came, was rather quick and decisive, orcs have taken the town aided from inside by agents and tretcherous mercenaries. Good thing she was outside of it. Nemna found herself in company of elves mostly by the bridge where survivours retreated and had to fight huge trolls. No doubt elves were lucky to have her around that time.
For all the chaos and horrors, she was unharmed and still able to help a few surviving knights return South. Surely, more would be heard of it and of troubles North. But there were troubles closer to home to worry about than orc ridden wildernes. And so she left Triel, not waiting to see it burn, back to Baldur's Gate.
