When it all begun...
Mirari stories 30/9

The first meeting of the Mirari was held outside the White Mask Theater. The significance of that place was not random since all those gathered have, more or less, some performers background.

Aetius was patiently waiting for the group to gather, performing his limited for the time being magic tricks. After short while Nikos arrived along with Peter. They discussed about their skills and background stories. They all agreed on one thing though… Their desire to uncover, the Sword Coast’s Mysteries and Magic.

The whole time the three of them were chatting, a figure could be seen standing in the corner. After a while the group became curious and decided to approach the figure. The man standing like a statue introduced himself as Zud and was to join the Mirari on their quests. And that was the time when it all begun…

<Mind's wanderings, like a mudslide on a slippery hillside. Chapter 1>

I was standing around town minding my own business.

Image

Image

Resting near a light-post. Several passersby threw a total of 18 coppers

Image

Just waiting idle by the auctioneer. A lady dropped a gold piece at my feet.

Image

While watching the sun set over the distant city walls... several bystanders seemed pleased and each tossed a few coins my way.

Image

Outside this merchant shop.. many people must have had extra change from shopping, it kept falling from thier hands.

Image

I found an interesting fountain, it may be a place of worship for those who favor water. I found the stonework of the nearby building more interesting.

Image

While inspecting the wall and pushing hard against it, a man was chuckling and said 'You'll never be able to hold up that wall as it falls down', I thought that odd... as the wall was not falling... and I was not holding it up. Yet the man dropped a few coppers to my feet... perhaps to donate for rebuilding the wall... IF it did fall.

Image

I met several men, they were very excited about magic and mysteries... one said, I could 'get rich on the discarded coins of those that love street performers'. I wondered whom else he meant was a street performer, as he was clearly one from his juggling.

Image

One of the men gave me a hat. I did a little dance, I dance poorly it felt stiff and awkward... my elbow hit the lamp post hard. My arm felt better after a moment of letting it dangle and swing beside me like the hand of a clock. Even though I thought my dancing was very bad, people loved it so and toss many coins towards me... I thought... Um... ...Ahh... 'Get rich'... I thought maybe I should ask more about the men's club of mysteries.

An evening in which Aetius Cento performed a few rounds of juggling and street theater for his compatriots, new and....not so new.

<Mind's wanderings, like a mudslide on a slippery hillside. Chapter 2>

I have been going further abroad to see more of this area.

Image

I was standing outside the Friendly Arms Inn, it seems very friendly. After watching the hustle and bustle of the trade-way for several hours, Travelers on the roadway gave me 47 gold, friendly indeed!

Image

Inside the Inn, I stood near a fire brazier to keep warm. I must have looked cold and needing of soup... as people dropped enough coin near me that all-I-can-eat soup is now an affordable option for every day this month!

<Mind's wanderings, like a mudslide on a slippery hillside. Chapter 3>

I found my new friends standing around the city plaza. They sure do stand around a lot in this area doing their street performances... I'm not sure how well I'll fit in with the group...

Image

While we were wiling away the hours, an orc in full war paint and armor wandered by, I treated it like a bear and held very still... this seemed to have worked, the orc did not attack. Our new friend was quite confident in her speaking with the beast.

Image

Later the orc wanted to act the philosophizer, wondering why we did not enjoy orc culture. I was worried for the hin's as 'culture' might mean he wanted us for 'dinner' theatre if hungry. I found a rake in the bushes and hoped that this might keep the beast at bay... holding it still in front of myself, while standing utterly still... seemed to have done the trick to not provoke the orc futher.

Image

Later the group was talking and discussing plans, I was thinking about the close call with the orc. I am sure they could clearly see the worry on my face, about such dangerous encounter.

Image

As they later discussed magic and how it would benefit their street performances. I was thinking much about my lady friend Lan'na... and how worried for me she would be after hearing of such a close call with a wild orcish monster. I am hoping the others understood the deep look of concern on my face was also including their safety.

Image

Sometime later, I was a again thinking of my lady friend... it made me blush and was sure they others could see my inner thoughts for her written in my longing gaze.

Image

After the others started to mention future plans and when to meet next, I found myself deep in thought about where my place in this group would be and were their goals in conjunction with my goals. I think the goals will lead to many exciting adventures, as the group was breaking up, I am positive they noticed my excitement and happiness for being a part of the group.

Image

I suddenly found myself alone and knew I should hurry home. I had a VERY EXCITING day, I just knew this was going to lead to glorious adventure!

Image

I found a total of 27 gold pieces, 98 silver coins, 231 copper bits at my feet before moving toward my home and an evening with my lady.

When asked, Aetius Cento gladly shares his gained knowledge of magic and shadow magic with his Mirari compatriots.

This tome,

Aetius Cento arrives in haste to the open plaza in the East District, looking frantically through the crowd for those that have taken the vow in the Mirari...alas, those few that would normally entertain in the street via performance or magic, were not to be found at the moment.

"Must I cross the entire city to find them?" he says aloud, but strictly to himself. His voice is practically crackling with excitement.

To a few known and trusted vendors of the open plaza, Aetius leaves word for his compatriots, if they would appear here while he ventured to the Palace, then the Harbor Districts...the words being:

I have walked in the thinness of shadow!
The vendors—not all pleased with what Aetius speaks of—still take the message to pass on...most requiring a few coppers to ease their minds of the strangeness of which Aetius speaks. Aetius has never given them cause for trouble before...but then again, he IS a tiefling...and that fact is not lost on the commonfolk.

Aetius then continues on in haste through the Gate, seeking the Mirari...at one point, seeming to disappear entirely from sight in the blink of an eye...

A girl in a pointy hat comes to the Plaza again late in the afternoon. She makes inquiries with familiar merchants and vendors on some of the more notorious actors of the place. Some recognise and smile (or frown), some just take her coppers with a promise to make a note on whereabouts of said persons or deliver a word that Nemna has news and wants to share a discovery.

This evening none of her friends were present, but she had a long chat with a woman named Tamina, untill the two felt they aren't goint to see actors come this time. They then parted ways.

The open plaza in the East District is quiet early in the morning this day, and very few bustle about. Must be the weather.

Autumn weather has been finicky, with various days of sun and warmth or cloudy with drizzle. And then other days, the breeze from the bay carries mist and dampness throughout the city, slowing commerce, causing a morning sleepiness.

Theater is not theater without an audience.

Standing in the plaza, idle, the Mirari initiate Aetius Cento, flips a coin across his fingers, passing the time.

He has been passed along a number of messages from the day traders grapevine, as well as a few arcane sends arrived in the last days, startling him at first with their information.

Soon, Aetius believes his compatriots, the Mirari, will arrive in this open plaza, with much to discuss.

Nikos walks towards the open plaza in the East District. He has been doing it for the last couple of weeks. Yet everytime he feels more confident and more fullfilled about the Mirari and its purpose. Just couple of weeks ago they were just a couple of street performes, yet now they have gained much understanding in the arcane and its secrets.

He feels a purpose in his life now, something to look forwarrd. This feeling is heightened now that their adventures have begun...

After the Mirari encountered a fierce group of Black Orcs within the cave of the Sharpteeth Woods, Aetius returns the bloodied Orc Chieftain head he was earlier tasked of retrieving for Captain Norton.

Having been paid in full for this dangerous task, and having been thanked profusely by the Captain, Aetius began a long discussion with the Captain over the events of the Black Orcs. When the moment was right, and Aetius had determined he had the Captain's confidence, in the name of the Mirari, Aetius presented the letter that he had retrieved from the fallen Black Orcs within the Orc cave.

Aetius spoke to the Captain that the Mirari have great skill in the discovery and acquisition of knowledge...and that their services are for hire, should the Flaming Fist need.

With that, Aetius slightly bowed, and left the Captain to his business.
