A rather mild mannered, fiery haired woman makes her way past the gated entrance to the Keep. She looks around for a moment and approaches the nearest guard for a quick little question.

The woman offers her usual smile to the guard before speaking up with her question, "Excuse me, Sir, but would you happen to be able to point me in the direction of Sir Valerius? I have something I'd wish to discuss with him."

The guard chuckles at her question and reason. "You an' about half the Sword Coast as well. To answer your question, I don't know his current whereabouts in the Keep but he's an easy to spot, so if you hang around for awhile he's bound to show up."

Nari simply inclines her head some, retaining the warm smile. "Right, I do hear he is quite busy, but thank you for the information, nonetheless, heh." She begins to meander around aimlessly in search of the gentlemanly hornéd man.

Valerius is, predictably enough, at Candlekeep.

After wandering around for a short while, Nari would find the tiefling wizard among a small crowd of visiting intellectuals. He appears to be leading a tour of the grounds.

"... and this is the temple of Oghma. As you may or may not know, Candlekeep is officially nondenominational; as such, the clerics here are treated as honored guests, rather than as members of the Avowed. The temple was built in ..."

Whether Nari decides to join the rest of the tour or not, once it is through, she would be able to isolate the wizard. He smiles on seeing her, recognizing her instantly (as there are very few fire genasi who regularly visit the monastery), and greeting her warmly.

"Welcome again to Candlekeep, Miss Nari. Is this about that letter?"

Assuming it is, he will take her aside, to discuss the matter more privately.

After joining up with the tour momentarily before it finishes, the woman waits her turn to speak with the busy, busy, busy, busy man. She returns the smile as Valerius had.
"Thank for, heh. I hope I didn't interrupt anything, I just wanted to say that I have the letter. 'Twas completely just earlier." Nari offers an inclination of her head and holds the neatly wrapped letter with a ribbon around it.
"If 'tis too soon for the sending spell, I can hold onto it longer, heh." She continues to keep the smile drawn on her face, "Also, did you think of a proper payment in mind?" ((No breaking rule 17 Maec. >:[ ))

An young elf, clad in a deep purple cloak and wearing finery and jewelry that suggest he is much more important than he really is, pops into existence as close to Candlekeep as the wards allow and then walks the rest of the way up the causeway to the guards on duty at the gate. He withdraws what appears to be a note and a sealed letter and thrusts them out toward the on on the right with a heavy sigh.

I am Elkor, but of course you don't care. I bring messages for the Guide of Candlekeep from my holy brother, blah blah blah. They're from Jonas, in other words. Gods, he bores me even when he isn't here to drone on about Torm and his duty."

The elf yawns, and looks around, then back to the guards.

"Well, I've done my bit. Time to get paid for my magical greatness."

With that, the elf man turns on his heels and casts Teleport as soon as he's able to.

The Candlekeep Inn was the last place Lavain Celtis wanted to be and he was in less than the best of tempers after dealing with the Portal Keeper or Keeper of Portals or whatever these monks call themselves.

Therefore, once his one good eye had fixed on the innkeeper looming over the bar and laughing with a half-drunken patron. The Company Sergeant Major of the Flaming Fist strode over and roared. "You! Winthrop! Ye fat stink-in innkeeper! Know ye already the large sum of coin that ye still owe me. Tymora continues to smiles upon ye, twere it not for my duty to the Fist, I'd had come for ye long before now. Alas I've come here with an important letter from his lordship, Sir Justin Crownsilver. Perhaps you know where I can find some buxom booknose lass by name of Valqis, aye?"

The innkeeper Withrop mutely blinked as he dabbed at the damp sweat that poured profusely from his brow before speaking. "Aye goodsir, I know of whom ye speak. If ye so desire I can deliver this letter to Seeker Valqis myself. Saves ye the trouble of waiting, no?"

The one-eyed burly veteran of the Flaming Fist fixed the rotund innkeeper with a cool eye and said, "Blood of Tempus! There be some sense in that huge melon of yours after all, when did this happen?" Reaching over the bar Lavain grabbed a handful of Withrop's apron and yank the startled innkeeper so that their noses were just nigh of touching. "Very well ye fat pile of guts, but mark my words make me rue this and even the fabled walls of Candlekeep shan't keep ye safe from my wrath." He released poor Withrop and without saying another word dropped a tightly rolled parchment stamped with the official seal of House Crownsilver into Withrop's sweaty palm and stamped away in disgust.

Selis Vhaire arrives at Candlekeep with one of her newly hired guardsmen, Colm DuBray. After being granted permission to enter by Emrys Kerr, Selis sits and reads a good majority of a book entitled Qarnaq, Islands on the Trackless Sea.

Before she can finish the educational tome, Selis is distracted by a melody that she can hear but Colm cannot hear. The two go in search of its origins, and the rest of the book is left for Selis to finish when she returns.

A Flaming Fist soldier arrives at Candlekeep late in the afternoon. He exchanges pleasantries and news with the Candlekeep guard on duty, and then hands over a letter and a ring, explaining that both of them need to be delivered to Valqis Sanejmeh, Seeker of Candlekeep.

Once Valqis is located, the letter is handed over into her custody. Inside is a letter of condolence explaining that Sir Justin Crownsilver has gone missing in the line of duty, and is presumed dead.

Inside the envelope is the Crownsilver family ring that Justin once wore, which, as the letter explains, he wanted Valqis to have.

Valqis greets the Candlekeep guard with at first surprised look. He offers her the letter. She reads it and her expression changes quickly to solemn grace. She slips the ring onto her pointer finger and thanks the soldier for bringing it to her.

After seeing him off, she retreats to her Seeker quarters at Candlekeep.

Those with keen hearing may soon hear muffled sounds of a crying woman.

Those who know Valqis Sanejmeh, Seeker of Candlekeep, may or may not have noticed that she seems to be completely despondent of late. She sang a melacholy song at the Festival. She sits quietly gazing at the moonless sky. She says little to persons around her. She goes about her work at Candlekeep with little enthusiasm.

Now as a sliver of the moon reappears in the night sky, some glimmer of hope may be returning to her hazel eyes.

Marpenoth 23, 1246

Sunrise at Candlekeep was greeted with the mornful melody of a womans' singing echoing within the walls. Her voice easily overpowered the voices of the Chanters. No one understood the words, but those familiar with the strong mid-range singing voice recognized it as belonging to Reader Valqis singing in her native language.

After the song, 12 fiery arrows arched far out into the calm morning sea toward the setting full moon. Those familiar with her stories may or may not recall that she is the sole survivor from her ships' crew of 13 souls.

Soon afterward, Valqis departed Candlekeep walking south along the coast. The gate guards spent the next 20 minutes discussing why her bare arms were painted with numerous hieroglyphs.

//// The following happened about 15 RL days ago - please play along - thankyou! ////

Two days later, Guide Valerius, Reader Valqis, and Acolytes Alison, Moxarr and Darren are seen leaving Candlekeep. Uncharacteristically, Valqis was not wearing her armor nor carrying any discernable weapons. She was carrying a heavy backpack. The group soon vanished from the road in a flash of light.

Four or five hours later the four persons returned to the same spot on the road near Candlekeep in a flash of light. But Valqis was not with them.

If visitors to Candlekeep were to inquire about Valqis' location, they would be told, "She is away," or "She is traveling," or similar replies. If they were to ask when will she return, the replies would be variations of shrugs, "I don't know," or "Ask the Guide."

Added Alison.

*The archer saunters into the Library, asking for Valerius. Upon being informed that he is not available, he produces quill, inkpot, and a crisp linen parchment from a convenient sleeve of his pack and quickly pens a letter, leaving it with the monk on duty*

((Acolyte Darren enters the Keep and goes straight to the Acolyte's Quarters, he puts down his backpack and after a lot of shuffling through and muttering in Terrain, he takes out a slightly sparkling tower shield, then writes down a quick note and attaches it to the shield))
This shield is slightly resistant to magic, hope it will help new Acolytes in training their Arcane skills
((he then leaves muttering about damn fleshlings not buying stuff from him))

20 days pass before another flash of light may or may not be noticed by passersby somewhere in the Lyons Way. Soon afterward, Reader Valqis Sanejmeh walks up the path to Candlekeep. She is greated by the guards then disappears into the Library.

She is seen again by many at the Candlekeep Festival where she served as the hostess. She shared a brief story about her journey to Candlekeep and recent return to her home islands.

Two days later Valqis again departs Candlekeep carrying only a heavy backpack. If anyone was lurking nearby, they may or may not notice her as she walks down the trail, pulls a mace-shaped thing from the bag, talks to it, then vanishes in flash of light and crackling energy.

Darren entered the Keep and headed to Acolyte's quarters. He packed all his and Arya's belongings and left the Keep. He didn't say a word.
