Valqis Sanejmeh

Unread post by Duster47 »

Template For Character Creation Reward:
* Valqis has been on BGTSCC for almost two real-life years*
First Name: Valqis
Last Name: Sanejmeh
Her full formal name as she would say it is: valQiS SanejmeH puqbe' martoq ghilqa je

Appearance: Ethnic features more typical of someone from east-Faerun than the Sword Coast. Naturally tan skin. Her beautiful eyes are encircled with dark ancient Egyptian-style eye liner. Her fingernails are expertly manicured shiny black. She is curvy and median weight for her height. Many persons would consider her very beautiful.
Image

Race: Human
Age: 22
Height 5’5”
Weight: 135 pounds.
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Taupe which reflects silver strands when exposed to moonlight.
Facial Hair Style: None.

Personality Profile: Valqis is an explorer at heart. Sanejmeh means “you-explore-for-us” in her native language. She was born under a full moon on the Spring Equinox and therefore became a person of interest to the local priestess of Nut (see Deity). Valqis was educated and raised in the upper echelons of her home island’s society, where she is considered a noble. She is social, well mannered and polite. She can also curse like a sailor when she becomes angry or frustrated. Valqis can be playful or very flirtatious. She is not afraid to use her feminine charms to persuade someone to get what she wants. She is a loyal to her family, (few close) friends, and Candlekeep. She is generally friendly but neutral to everyone else.

She developed innate magical abilities after her arrival on the Sword Coast. She vaguely understands magic. She does not consider herself “blessed” by Nut but does recognize the special gift she has, which is a result of being born under a full moon. She is very put-off by others claiming to be “favored” by their god. She is suspicious of “cursed” persons (warlocks). Otherwise, she is very much a live-and-let-live-unless-they-are-obviously-wanting-to-kill-me-or-you mindset with respect to other’s beliefs.

Valqis is very task oriented. She travels frequently which she enjoys. Unfortunately, she is uncomfortably aware she has 4 places she can call “home” and wonders how long she can remain this ungrounded. Meanwhile, she performs her duties but wants something more. Other friends’ marriages and her sister’s marriage and recent motherhood caused Valqis realize what that something could possibly be.

She also enjoys performing at the theater. She likes ales and red wine and is prone to overindulge. She avoids whiskey.

She has a fear of spiders.

General Health: She is in generally good health with no significant lasting scars. She is toned but not buff. She is very limber and steady on her feet.

Deity: Nut, godess of everything to do with the distant sky, sun, moon, and stars. Beliefs approximate equal to those of Selune’. Nut is the wife of Mulhorundi pantheon god Geb. On Valqis’ home islands, Nut is believed to be their mother creator. Valqis’ eye makeup and black painted fingernails represent Nut’s eyes and hands watching and tending to Toril from the distant dark sky.

Initial Alignment: Began as TN but slowly shifted to NG.

Profession: Ship navigator, cartographer and stellar cartographer by training. Later became a Reader at Candlekeep. Her research focuses on mapping distant places.

Base Class & Proposed Development: Already L30 (mostly bard)

Habits/Hobbies: Since coming to the Sword Coast, Valqis joined the White Mask Theater guild as a singer. She also plays a drum and dances, though singing is easily her strongest skill. Over time, she became a very accomplished and recognized figure in Baldurs Gate performing arts. Her “axe song” was considered quite innovative or shocking or bawdy depending on whom you asked.

Valqis is a proficient painter and song writer.

Languages: Valqis can read, write, and speak Qarnaqi (home islands) and Common launguages. She Speaks witlh a tlhik aksent. She avoids using words with similar sounds but different meanings. (e.g. She refers to the direction as starboard. 1+1 = 2 is a correct statement. You use a pen to rite.) She can read and write some Mulhorundi hieroglyphs.

Weapon of Choice: Longbow; it is a natural extension of herself. She is also proficient with a great axe. She learned to use it as a test by her ship’s captain to prove she was worthy of serving on his ship (and not just a pretty face and sultry smile).

Background: Valqis is from distant islands in the Trackless Sea collectively named, “Qarnaq.” Valqis is the first born daughter of an important family of her home islands. Her father is a shipwright. She has two sisters and youngest brother. Her parents and siblings are living on her home island. The oracles of Nut noticed Valqis’ interest in the night sky and natural ability with geometry. They encouraged these interests by teaching her various celestial studies, cartography, stellar cartography and the associated math.

She was always a curious explorer around her homeland island, hence her Coming-of-Age name, "SanejmeH" (you-explore-for-us). Valqis is also musically inclined often singing and dancing with others at the temple of Nut. However, her duties were always first with the maps and math; not music.

Read more about Valqis’ home islands here.

Two years ago (1345 DR), Valqis set sail from her home islands on a ship named, ro'DuQwi' (fist-be-spiked) along with 12 other crew. There were two other similar ships. All three ships sailed eastward in search of lands-to-the-east as envisioned by the oracles of Nut. Their mission was to find these lands, record what they found, and then return home to report what they found. Valqis’ ship found the Lantan Islands. But a few days later they were attacked by pirates near the Nelanther Islands. Valqis was washed overboard during the fighting which ended when both ships sank. She was found alone on wreckage by a merchant ship and eventually delivered to Baldurs Gate. About a year later, she was able to return home via a portal created by the then Guide of Candlekeep, Valerius. There she learned the other two ships never returned either. She later led an expedition to Chult and found 3 surviving crew members from one ship at a fishing village.

She slowly acclimated to the Sword Coast, learned Common and eventually found a home at Candlekeep. She also played a small part in the Bhaalist campaign serving under Sir Jonas Rokranon direction. She formed a romantic relationship with Emrys Kerr but ended it after discovering his curse, for which he was later mercifully killed. She dated Sir Justin Crownsilver of the Flaming Fist for a few months but that relationship ended with his departure to Tethyr not long after her initial return home.

Seeker Valqis accompanied a Candlekeep expedition to find an important artifact. The leader died in an attack and Valqis took command; eventually returning the party safely to Candlekeep after several diversions. She was later appointed Reader to study and use the artifact to further her cartography duties.

Goals: She completed her primary goal of completing her ship’s mission. The oracles told her to remain in service to Candlekeep to find some yet-to-be-known treasures. “The more you search, then the more you can find. You will know it when you find it.” was all they told her.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Valqis is the keeper and operator of a unique guild item for Candlekeep. First Reader Tethtoril told her with the item she will bring significant lore and artifacts to Candlekeep. The oracles of Nut gave her direction to remain at the Sword Coast in service of Candlekeep with a similar message. She suspects the Oracles telegraphed their thoughts to Tethtoril as dreams but dared not question them out of respect for their authority.

Add portrait of Valqis as she appears in 1352 DR.
Image

/// The heiroglyphs* read from top-left down then to right and down:
Her name in the oval-frame, then says she is "Navigator of our home islands. We celebrate her for navigating around the world in year 952" (on their calendar). "She is blessed by revered Nut" (name in oval, the same symbol on Valqis' shoulder pad).

* The glyphs are not simple Common-to-Mulhorandi (i.e. English-to-Egyptian), it is actual IG phrasing as she would speak IG. So their are two layers of translation here. ///

/// The OP was true and accurate until ~1349 DR (RL 2013). I am adding more detailed back ground and other dirt information for those who care to know may remember when Valqis was around the Sword Coast far more than now in 1352 DR. This is a work-in-progress. Onward for some gratuitous self indulgence  ///

1. Family and Childhood History:
1.1. Parents: Father Martoq and mother Ghilqa, both in their upper-40’s as of 1352 DR. Martoq is a renowned shipwright and land owner of the Amarna village. Ghilqa is the respected matriarch of their extended household. They have four, now grown, children.
1.2. Siblings: Valqis is first born followed by sisters Mara (26) and Q’Ehlyr (24) and youngest brother Qolotlh (21). All three are living in or near their home village of Amarna. They are all married with both sisters having children of their own. Her brother was only recently married and is being brought up to follow in his father’s footsteps.
1.3. Early childhood: Valqis grew up in a wealthy house tended by servants. She was taught to read, write and basic math skills. She was noted to excel at math and drawing, assisting her father with his work. She often gazed at the night sky, noting stars and phases of the moon and their recurring appearances. The Oracles of Nut took an early interest in Valqis as her skills became evident.
1.4. Tween-years: When she was 10 years old, the Oracles of Nut insisted Valqis be sent to the Temple of Nut at Saqqara to further her education. They taught her detailed math of the stellar cartography, motions of the planets and moon, and celestial navigation. She practiced her cartography skills by conducting land surveys on Esna Island. The temple was also a festive place, where Valqis eagerly joined the others in song and dance. Valqis’ singing voice and performing skills became apparent and were enjoyed by others. She graduated her studies at age 19, earning her functional name, Sanejmeh, meaning, she-is-guiding-us.
1.5. Late-teens/Sailor-years: At graduation, the Qarnaqi people’s mission to explore Toril beyond the horizon was well underway. Valqis was selected to be the navigator of one of three ships that would make that first journey east into the distant unknown. She furthered her sailor skills and was taught to fight with axe and bow. The ship’s captain was unsure of Valqis strength and was particularly hard on the pretty girl with an easy upbringing. She proved him wrong and earned his respect through the force of her will. The song, Happiness is a Big Axe, was inspired by her sailor training trials.

Song lyrics:
Hidden: show
jey’nas tin kuch’a’na’ - (Happiness is a big axe) +

*sing slow* i'm not a girl who misses much

*sing scales* do do do do do do- oh Hija'

*sing forsceful* i'm well aqainted with the touch of a metal hand

being a member of a sailor training band

*sing* i take my plase with my weapon in hand

*fite position* i stand ready and willing to defend my land

my eyes are lying while my hands are sure working overtime

my weakness kannot show so i kan save this body of mine

i try my best to make it through the day

i hope my body will not give me away

i need another target that i kan pound

i will chop it to bits before i fall to the ground

*sing plead* sailor trainer do not give me a shake

you've taked from me all there is to take

i need to rest or i soon will break

*sing angry 3x* sailor trainer do not beat on me

*sing* happiness is a big axe

*chant* joP chaQ ngol lev *move axe: slash akross - up - side - down*

*sing* happiness is a big axe, yes it is (oh yes)

*chant* joP chaQ ngol lev *repeat motions*

*sing sultry* when i hold you in my hands (oh yes)

i feel my fingers on your long handle (oh yes)

*dance with axe*

*sing growl* i know no one kan harm me (oh yes)

*sing* bekause happiness is a big axe, kaptain

happiness is a big axe, yes it is (oh yes)

happiness is a big, yes it is... a great big axe!
*kiss the axe*
2. Notable Physical Traits:
2.1. Race: Human – Genetically, Valqis is a pure-blood Mulani without hint of “outsider” blood for at least 50 generations.
2.2. Birthdate and place: Ches 19, 1325 DR, at the village of Amarna on Esna Island in the Qarnaq islands group. She is 27 years old as of this record (1352 DR).
2.3. General physical appearance: She is about 5’5” (1.65 m) tall and 135-140 pounds (61-63 kg) weight. Her skin is naturally tan. She has definite feminine curves. She moves gracefully and is very sure-footed, comparing favorably with a cat. She is about average strength and health for someone of similar age and height. She has all of her teeth and a very pretty smile. Most persons would find her to be very attractive. There are two puncture-wound scars on her upper-right back from a wyvern attack gone terribly wrong. There are no other large, obvious scars on her. She often smells of coconut, which is from a skin lotion she uses daily.
2.4. Eyes: She has hazel-colored eyes encircled with dark eyeliner which tails off to the sides. The eyeliner is a common tribute among followers of the goddess Nut, alluding to a motherly gaze from the dark, night sky.
2.5. Hair: Her hair is a very dark taupe brown, straight and past shoulder length. She has bangs cut, though she lets them grow out at times to change things up. She will tie her hair up to be either practical or pretty depending on the situation. She often weaves ribbons braided into her hair to frame her face. Her hair appears to have widely-dispersed, silvery-strands when viewed under direct moonlight.
2.6. Hands: Valqis keeps generally good hygiene which is clearly evident with well-manicured shiny-black fingernails. Sometimes she will paint her toenails too. She is mostly right-handed, but can use her left if her right hand is full, such as hanging onto something.
2.7. Voice: One of her most obvious “first impression” attributes, or hindrances, is her thick accent. Otherwise, her voice is mid-tone, very smooth and melodic. She has a very powerful, mid-range singing voice. Some may say she is one of the best quality-of-voice singers to perform at the White Mask Theater when she routinely performed there. (RL note; Valqis sings similar to Amy Lee of Evanescence)

3. Notable Personality Traits and Skills:
3.1. She is not at all shy when it comes to eye contact. She is prone to an obvious eye-roll when she believes the circumstances merit it or wide-eyed gaze when surprised or pleased.
3.2. Valqis can be quite the flirt. She knows others may find her attractive and she is not at all afraid to use that to her advantage. She also adapts to those around her. She can be quite noble when dealing with nobility. During her time as a Seeker, she often chatted up sailors over ale in the local tavern while inquiring about their ship’s maps and sailing routes.
3.3. She was taught to read the stars of the night sky as others read words on a page. She also learned the math associated with tracking and predicting celestial events, measuring time, and charting ground surveys. She is an accomplished ship’s navigator and cartographer by trade. This further enabled her becoming a Reader of Candlekeep specializing in cartography.
3.4. She is a trained sailor being proficient in most day-to-day ship-board activities.
3.5. Valqis prefers the night to the day. She revels under the stars of Nut’s night sky. She dislikes enclosed spaces; especially caves.
3.6. She is a good artist, though her paintings and sketches tend to be more life-like in their detail than artistic. Her maps are text-book quality.
3.7. Valqis also enjoys the performance arts. She is an excellent singer and passable song writer. She often dances and plays a small drum to accompany her singing.
3.8. She is not particularly fearful, but she has a clear anxiety with spiders. If asked about it, she is generally evasive indicating, at most, something awful happened in her youth.
3.9. Valqis generally has a live-and-let-live attitude. She is not prone to start a fight, though will readily defend herself and companions if forced to do so.

4. Notable Items (what she calls each in her native language):

4.1. Valqis’ Clothing:
4.1.1. Armor (Hip): A finely made darksteel chainshirt with leather sleeves, pants and additional padding. It form-fits to her and is very comfortable. She often carriers an inverted quiver-like tube on her back that holds maps and [classified]. The left shoulder pad is emblazoned with the hieroglyphs of Nut (starry-sky, rising sun and fertility bowl). She wears the fortress-with-blazing-spires symbol of Candlekeep on her left arm colored to indicate her rank of Reader.
4.1.2. Armor (Hiplang) - Warmer Climates: The same chain shirt though without the leather under-layer and often bare-armed aside for her left arm-guard and shoulder pad. If the expectation of danger is low, she will wear a skirt.
4.1.3. Avowed Clothing (Sut Hadmeh): When Valqis is at Candlekeep or representing it at some official activity, she wears her black-tunic-with-blue sash attire bearing the fiery-spired-castle icon on its left sleeve.
4.1.4. Other times: She wears whatever is comfortable and appropriate for the occasion. She prefers clothing that accentuates her feminine attributes.

4.2. Boots (Dasmey): Below-the-knee masterwork chain boots, with flat heal and lugged sole to better grip the ground.

4.3. Belt (Qogh Ponvad): A wide leather belt about her waist. It is imbued to enhance her strength and presence to others.

4.4. Gloves (Pongmey Bommeh): Flexible leather gloves with fingertips removed enhance her dexterity.

4.5. Cloak (Ngup): A gift from her parents. Heavy cloth material emblazoned with the stars of Nut’s night sky on the underside. The outer-side is a dark gray with moon and star symbols and an inscription in her native language, “Nut, protect our daughter”. Valqis does not like freezing-cold weather.

4.6. Helmet (Miv Suvmeh): A metal helm with a wide, all-around brim. It protects her head while leaving her eyes and ears unobstructed.

4.7. Shield (Yod): A masterwork small, round shield, which is otherwise unremarkable.

4.8. Great Axe (Jey’nas’a’ Qonsu): A beautiful masterwork mithral weapon emblazoned with numerous glyphs indicating it is a “greater moon blade” blessed by the light of moon and air of the sky. Valqis was required to learn how to defend herself with a greataxe as part of a test to prove her worthiness for the long-sea journeys to come. She kept up with the art and became very proficient with it, despite her lesser size and strength compared to persons who traditionally wield such large weapons. This ax being constructed of mithral no doubt eases her use of it.

4.9. Sword (Meqleh): A masterwork, heavy, short blade clearly intended more for chopping than stabbing. The leather scabbard is inscribed Strike fast and strike hard in her native language script.

4.10. Longbow (Bahmeh): This finely crafted elven bow is held as if a natural extension of herself. It is otherwise unremarkable. Arrows (nich) tend to be whatever she can buy.

4.11. Jewelry:
4.11.1. Necklace: A dazzling string of pearls on a silver chain with a diamond pendant. It is imbued with magical powers of protection. Its beauty certainly enhances Valqis’ presence to others. It is a treasured gift from Vladimire though Valqis never told her husband Qurn its true source.
4.11.2. Right-hand ring: “Qeb qad” is magically imbued to enhance her alertness and presence to others.
4.11.3. Left-hand ring: “Qeb Hi’a’ Valqis” is magically imbued to greatly enhance her presence to others.
4.11.4. Earrings: Most often, Valqis wears silver crescent moon and star themed earrings.

4.12. “The Artifact” – a mace-sized metal thing, seemingly of gnomish-design, but more complicated. The glass-sphere top glows as if by magic. She rarely talks about it beyond its existence. What it truly is or does is a mystery to all but those Avowed closest to her and of high enough rank. She is very careful with its care and use.

/// Now a real trip back in-time. Some long-term BG players may recognize some of these names. :o ///

9. Notable Relationships:
9.1. Emrys Kerr: Beautifully handsome flirt who wooed Valqis with his naughty antics. Their relationship burned very hot for a few months in spring (1346 DR). Though, it did not take long for Valqis to discover Emrys’ dark secret; his curse bestowed by a demon from a deal by his parents. His mood eventually became dark. She separated from him to avoid being drawn down by and with him. She tried her best but guide him toward good. Emrys eventually succumbed to his dark fate and was mercy-killed by Siomir.

9.2. Vladimire Blackheart: Valqis has a very long, complicated relationship with Vladimire, a traveling trader and powerful warrior. He was clearly taken with her. She enjoyed his company. He saved her life, after which things got more complicated as she wrote and sang about in her song, Waking Up in Beregost. He, unfortunately at the time, was competing with Emrys Kerr, who won her heart. For a while. Vladimire often accompanied her on missions for Candlekeep, ensuring her safety. Valqis declined his romantic intensions but they continued their relationship as friends. It was a difficult choice for Valqis (probably harder on him) but her upbringing was very clear about who should be worthy to father her children; a noble. After Valqis got a ship, they naturally drifted apart. She calls him her “favorite mistake”.

9.3. Sir Justin Crownsilver, Officer of the Flaming Fist, Noble from Cromyr: Sir Crownsilver was smitten with Valqis’ performance as “Jennifer” in a murder-mystery play at the White Mask Theater. He sent her a flower bouquet. She was completely surprised by his interest and welcomed his noble manor. She met the Dukes as Justin’s escort to a formal diner. He romanced her off and on for months, even discussing marriage, before being recalled to his homeland (winter 1347 DR). She still has his Signet ring.

9.4. Merielle Williams Silien, Saint if Ilmater: (1345-1347 DR) Valqis’ first true female friend in the new world. Merielle began teaching Valqis Common using picture cards. The two were close for months until the incidents with “Billy” and Bhaalist occupied more and more of Merielle’s attention (she eventually being Sainted for her efforts). Valqis performed at Merielle’s wedding to Tessian.

9.5. Tessian Silien: Tessian did the most to teach Valqis the Common language. While others seemed more interested in Valqis teaching them some of her language, which baffled her, Tessian focused on Common. He was often a voice of reason to her while others were overwhelmed with their emotions of the day.

9.6. Valerius, Guide of Candlekeep (1346 DR): Promoted Valqis to Seeker rank after her long but unremarkable service as an acolyte. He mentored her in the ways of Candlekeep. Valerius teleported Valqis back to her home islands using Valqis’ earrings, given to her by her mother, to scry the target location. Valerius promoted Valqis to Reader rank after she retrieved and learned to use [classified].

9.7. Alison Schuup: Close friend, fellow performer and drinking buddy at the White Mask Theater. They also served together at Candlekeep during Valqis’ time as an acolyte and Seeker. Allison later renounced her vows and moved on after finding love. Valqis sang at Alison’s wedding to Aerion.

9.8. Wendel Ashby, Guide of Candlekeep (summer 1347 to 1349 DR): Father figure to Valqis at Candlekeep. They spent many nights talking anything and everything. She was very devoted to the old man and greatly valued his wisdom and kindness. She was very sad when he retired his vows and moved on.

9.9. Aranath, Knight of Torm: Another handsome noble who took interest in Valqis after one of her performances in the theater. She very much enjoyed his company, but their duties often kept them apart. He eventually ended their relationship, to which she wrote: “I surrender. I kannot do this again.”

9.10. Juliandra Reynolds: Traveling minstrel, close friend and confidant. Juli helped Valqis navigate her mixed emotions between Vladimire and Emrys. They shared many songs and drinks around campfires and taverns. They may or not have been arrested for late-night shenanigans in the city. Their kind words and pretty faces occasionally got them out of this and lessor situations. Juli eventually moved on as was her habit.

9.11. Gareut (Kalma) Hellstorm, Captain of Sea wolf: Although they met at White Mask Theater, their relationship was far more curious later as between fellow sailors. Their “friendship” was mutually beneficial, though her association with him would certainly degrade her reputation with the lawful folk of the Sword Coast. Valqis sang at Kalma’s wedding.

9.12. Randal (Randallona) Armstrong: Powerful fighter and conflicted neer-do-well who befriended Valqis through her work at the theater. Randal often got into trouble, sometimes of his doing and others by happenstance. Valerius also took an interest in Randal. Together they, and others saw the true kind heart of this greatly mis-understood person. Randal and Valqis flew on a griffin, a gift from Valerius, to Mulhorand. Unfortunately, the law was about catch up with Randal and Valqis spirited him away from arrest by [classified]. He later decided to face his past and left his treasured sword with her. He was hanged by the Dukes. His body was given to his other friends and Valqis returned him his sword for his eternal rest. She wrote and sang the song, “Stones” in Randal’s memory.

9.13. Laitae Lafreth, Reader/Guide of Candlekeep (1348 DR to present): Laitae and Valqis have a long, professional relationship as Avowed. Valqis completely trusts Laitae but she feels they lack that sisterly/friendly relationship Valqis has with so many other female friends. Perhaps it is an elf-human-thing? Visited Valqis’ home island with Louise in early 1347 DR.

9.14. Louise De'LaValiere: Fellow Avowed and close friend until she moved along to another place. Visited Valqis’ home island with Laitae in early 1347 DR.

9.15. Teo, Scribe/Guide/Scribe of Candlekeep (1349 DR To present): Teo and Valqis have a long, professional relationship as Avowed. She was at-first put-off by Teo’s mask, but he revealed his true self to her so she now understands why he wears it. She is now completely accustomed to it. She also eventually recognized the differences in the magic Teo created compared to other mages at Candlekeep. This causes her to watch Teo a bit more closely, though he is (yet) to give her reason to not trust him with respect to Candlekeep and the other Avowed.

9.16. Midian Dark (1348 DR): A close, professional relationship with another Avowed. Things got complicated after a night of partying at the Palace. They both moved on afterward (she perhaps more easily than him).

9.17. Herran Hymm, Seeker of Candlekeep and Director White Mask Theater (1350 DR): Valqis and Herran have a long friendly and professional relationship from their work together at the White Mask Theater. They get along very well together. Some maybe wondered if they were a couple, but their relationship always remained platonic. They spent the night in jail together after the “vampire lord” incident resulted in incineration of the upper floors of the Lords’ Alliance building.

9.18. Qurn: Valqis’ husband, best explained from her journal: “He is the first son of Torgh, my father's most trusted ship builder. I knowed Qurn all of my life. Though I did not see him often after I went to Saqqara to learn about Nut's stars and to become a navigator. He was part of the crew when we sailed north up the coast during the undead pirate troubles. Not knowed to me or him, our parents put him on the crew to learn if we were able to "sail together." Very clever of them. I was glad to be seeing him again. We talked about actions I missed around Amarna while I was at Saqqara. I always thinked about him as more brother than potential husband. Qurn is honorable. Handsome. I believe I can learn to love him.” Married Nightal 22, 1348 DR. There is no doubt both Qurn and her father benefitted greatly from the marriage. Her father secured her within his House and greatly expanded his influence on the islands as the Father of Valqis, Great Explorer of the Qarnaqi People. Qurn moved into her father’s House, increasing his rank from artisan to noble. Valqis and Qurn work well together when she is with him. Her desire to travel and explore sometimes weighs heavily on him, both the separation, and his concern for her safety far from home.

9.19. Re’-Horaqti: Son of Valqis and Qurn, born Marpenoth 15, 1349 DR. A beautiful child who learned early to travel. For the next two years, Valqis traveled often with Re’-Horaqti to Candlekeep when they required her presence. He became very accustomed to nurse Abigale. His name means blessed by the setting sun in old Mulhorandi. (He is now three years old as of this writing.)

9.20. meHet-weret: Daughter of Valqis and Qurn, born Mirtul 14, 1352 DR. Her name means sacred waters in old Mulhorandi. (She is now six months old as of this writing.)

10. Book about her home islands.

11. Status as of Nightal 1352 DR: At chaltin QulDaq with her two children.
