Server first loot - Better loot?

I have noticed this trend and often wondered if the "random" numbers provided by the NWScript function are based on date/time stamps. If so, two people who loot at the same time are likely to get the same item.

I have certainly noticed that loot appears to come in clusters with the RIG and Chest Loot systems.

Working as intended. It's in reality a callback to a fallen cuple who chose treasure over love. That is why the duo pair of rings are found every so often.... to remind us. . That loot is the downfall of love

... or its just a pair of rings... but my story is better.

As best I can tell from the code, the one changed pulls items from pre-existing loot lists.

The RIG is completely separate and will be considered for similar changing. One step at a time.

I am now like 99% certain that first loot = better loot. I recently went on an adventure through 4 different epic dungeons with people. I only opened one chest first and in that chest I got a magical item (mad gents boots) every other chest without exception had 1-2 mundane items and >50 gp. I got 3 banded mails, 3 tower shields, 2 studded leathers, 2 ale steins etc etc etc.

Something is either broken or I have some terrible luck. Especially considering alone I cannot exit even kobold ruins without at least a mace with +1 craft weapon or something.

Nope. The percentages are all the same. It makes no difference. Any apparent difference is just coincidence and the natural pattern-seeking behavior of the human mind.

Take it from someone who loots a little from time to time; it does not matter the order that you loot a chest. In the past 2 weeks I have found a +4 ring, +4 amulet, scarab of protection +3 and relli's belt of mischief. I was not the first to loot the chests in the dungeons where these items were found.

I am talking about in quick succession not someone loots and you come along 45 minutes later and loot. I am talking within a few seconds. The loot is obviously worse.

The odds are that you are going to find something crappy. Every time. So, if someone in your party finds something nice, the odds are the next person will find something crappy. It is a facet of the human mind that we selectively pick out these type of instances to selectively reinforce preconceptions. I'm not trying to insult you. We all do it. It's a people thing. Can't help it.

Again, the programming code is clear on the matter. Everyone has the same low chance of finding something good, regardless of when you happen across the chest or what order you go in.

What it boils down to is that if you want a better chance of finding something good, then you have to loot a LOT. That's been my experience anyways...

I disagree. I think there may be something unaccounted for in the programming or its functions especially since things were altered recently.
