Re: Highest stealth
I plan to play him as a stealth hit-man. He will come out of nowhere, strike from stealth, and if his first attack does not kill the target then he can use hips and repeat the process. I was thinking Rogue20/SD10. Rogue20/Ass10 would do more damage but wont get hips till lv 8 whereas SD gives hips at lv 1. I need hips as soon as possible and since it takes years to reach 30 here i cant afford to delay it. Im pretty much stuck, but i should still be able to do decent damage. Will be fun to try anyway...

Re: Highest stealth
the difference is hips at like 8 vs hips at like 13, you can wait a few levels since both are pre epic
20/10 rogue SD, particularly the 10 SD, is the easiest path to epic dodge since everything will be free because of 10 SD, but realize SD is a defensive class and all your damage is from rogue, but you will have enough SA dice to not be bad and SD will make up for low AC just remember you need 10th SD before level 29 so you can pick up epic dodge with your last feat
20/10 rogue assassin is not a good split, 21/9 for rogue assassin, 9th assassin is the last level for sneak dice and 21 rogue gets a sneak dice, so you would be shorting yourself a d6 for a level that is only gonna give you +1 DC to death attack, and if you dont have like a +6 or higher INT bonus your DC isnt gonna matter much anyway since you would be waiting for most things to roll a 1
and of course with 20 levels of rogue, epic precision is a must
but if you are leveling from 1, then rogues are slow at low level, kinda pick up ok in mid level after you get hips, but slow back down once you hit epic, especially if you are solo
in a group its always a bit quick as long as nothing is facing you

Also consider this one perhaps. I built her with somewhat similar goals to yours and she was great fun to play throughout.

Re: Highest stealth
The specific amount of Hide and MS you would need is somewhere around 54 i'm only saying that because your Hide and MS is going against your targets Listen and Spot. If their simply a rando (Rando = Non Druid, Ranger, Bard) Then if they put points into Listen and Spot they will be at a whooping 33 Spot and Listen. If they have search Mode activated they will roll a free 20 against your Hide and MS so that puts them a 53. Which mean sitting around 54 or a bit higher is reality safe mode for you. . . . Again only if its a Rando. . .V'rass wrote:Speaking of stealth... how much does one need at minimum to be effective in pve/pvp?

Re: Highest stealth
I would increase that "safe" amount to be 58 or 63.
There are environment penalties/bonuses applied to the mechanic at times, and I believe they are in 5 point increments.

Re: Highest stealth
I've seen drow run around with stealth going as high as 93 so. . .anything is possible.

Re: Highest stealth
I got 52/54 on a halfling rogue. He had 6 strength and 8 con, and he was awful at everything else, but hey- 52/54!Zanniej wrote:What is the highest stealth scores you can achieve, while still keeping a viable build?
I came up with a halfling rogue/wd/sd which ended with 49 and 51 in move silently and hide respectively.
I could up that a bit more by using more epic feats for greater dexes, but that'd go at the cost of epic dodge expose weakness and epic precision.
And still that build wasn't completely viable I think.
So, can the build masters enlighten me perhaps?
It was a fun year (I think). Bye.

Re: Highest stealth
My halfling has 54/55 right now with no buffs and non epic gear. Fully decked out with gear I am at 69 or 70. Can't wait to get epic gear. Also sneak attacking things I do good damage 55 thru 70 and 90 on Crits. I am only level 24. It's possible to have good hide, stealth and damage. Good luck

Re: Highest stealth
Versus what?
The highest detection skill ive seen around was at 79 before roll (thus 89 on an average roll).
So might as well go for high speed and use HIPS when close enough.

Versus everything except undead.... that's going to be half. 35 to 45 vs undead... right now. Sneak attack that is.
