When it comes to being a healthy fighter in any DND based game your first priority should always be your AC. If that person you fighting can't hit you then there is no need to even worry about regenerating or taking less damage in the first place.
The second thing i find to be important is resistances. While having high AC is nice there are SOOOOO many different varieties of damage and magical damage you cannot block or dodge unless its a magical touch attack. Having suitable magic resistance and magical immunity to different elements helps alot.
Third thing i would say to have checked on your list is saves. Alot of people don't really touch on this point but. . . making sure your saves aren't low enough for any little snot-nosed kid to run up and throw a DC 12 rock at your forehead is needed. In a real scenario even as a tank with over 600 hp and 60AC if your saves aren't up to par all it takes is one druid or mage to look at you funny with a high DC death spell and its lights out for you in a matter of seconds.
