For consistency sake I would say BC and GBC should be from the same school... What school are they in PnP?

Necromancy, but both are listed as Transmutation in game.

Of course it is...this is D&D after all!
I will open up a topic in QC, but this may be more of a DM decision (depending on if there is a mechanical reason for it to be one or the other for balance or if it is a lore decision.)

The spell behaves in the same realm as Contagion, Enervation, and Energy Drain. I guess you could make the argument that it's the opposite of Bull's Strength etc., but the spell name and how it behaves makes my instinct say necromancy.
However, I'm biased

***Personal opinion, not in any way an indicator of the outcome***
Personally I lean the other way, toward transmutation, simply because balance wise Necromancy is so good. Not that Transmutation is bad, but it suffers from it's top 2 spells both being level 6. Bestow Curse would give them a decent level 4 and 8 spell to help with their arsenal.
That said, it may not even be a balance decision if the DM's feel that lore wise it belongs in one school or the other. As I said, this is just my stance on where it should go from a balance perspective. Nothing says the schools have to be equal (they sure aren't now anyway), but if we have the opportunity to make an average school in to a better choice than we should do so, especially when the decision is against the best (mechanical) spell school.

Well I agree with your argument about balance, but BC and GBC isn't going to make someone choose Transmutation. It's always going to be an auxilary school. I guess the argument is would it make Necro too strong in terms of QC.

Ahem.. I chose transmutation! Anddddd I hope to eventually have my character create a 9th level offensive spell for transmutation. To give warrant to spell focusing in it.
EDIT: If he succeeds it'll be poetic, right? Good transmuters want to see the world change for the better. What better way to change it than to make transmuters able to fight semi on-part with those necromancers!

I actually casted GBC with Necro prohibited. Which is odd, since on another character I tried to scribe it and failed because it was forbidden.
