track enables the ability to follow anything and survival increases the range, so depends on how big of a map you wanna be able to track across
i just keep it maxed on my druid who is a huntress

Thanks, Blackman D.
To you and all other detection experts: the wiki says that Spot and Listen are irrelevant to the Scent feat (though still needed to detect hostiles outside the minimap). However, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this is untrue, but that the combined Spot and Listen score is used to sniff out hidden opponents with Scent and show them on the minimap. Is this correct?

i know with track vs stealth you do need detection to still track a sneak, their dot will disappear off the minimap
dont remember for scent tho, i never tested scent the same way i tested track

They will not 'visually' appear to the character searching for them unless they can still beat their hide/ms checks with their own spot/listen checks or see invisibility.
Pass without a Trace should be nullifying the minimap marker, though.
Ragingpeace could see me even though his spot and listen is no where near my hide and ms and he had a marker of me on the mini map even when i had Pass without a Trace up.
