Candlekeep is a monastery. Not a mage guild.

Deathgrowl you wrong of that it is a library it is a Keep ! Candlekeep was a towered fortress library that stood on a crag overlooking the Sea of Swords. The library was filled with books and scrolls of knowledge. It was the home of the great seer Alaundo who foresaw the coming of the Bhaalspawn. To gain entry to the halls of wisdom a visitor must gift the library collection with a new tome of immense value.[1][note 1] The shrewd gatekeepers accepted tomes of no less than 1,000 gp.[4]
Deathgrowl and why dose it have guild why is you "archmage is part of it if is not s guild?

Honestly, if you have a mage and want to join a group on the server... Why not join the Church of Mystra? The Temple in BG is amazing. The leader, Syndreth is a very interesting character and the player behind her is friendly and helpful.
It would be much easier to join something established than start something new.
Just my opinion.

Well to be honest there is a fair distinction between a church of Mystra and a mage guild even one that is faithful in their practices to Mystra. For example, for the most part my character has no problem adopting even preaching some sense and reverence when using magic but she almost always gets into a cross with Mystran paladins for one reason or another not to mention every mage doesn't have to have Mystra as their main patron even if they follow the teachings and so on. Practicing "the Art" and revering Mystra are not interchangable, that is not to say they couldn't or shouldn't hold respects to Mystra just that serving her doesn't have to be particularly their main goal.
Also the "sensible use of magic" idea can warry very much, another example given, there is nowhere even a hint that using magic for entertainment and comfort somehow breaks or damages or even dissatisfies Mystra (at least not what I read), but every Mystran Puritan will make you out to be a horrible weave breaker unless you use magic only in life and death situation.

Speaking as a "Mystran Puritan" character player, I feel I have to note that it's not accurate! My character even made a magic show, for educational and entertainment purposes!

Oh I am not saying it's universally true, just my experience so far and one of the examples.

Hedge Wizards Unite!!!
Not to totally derail the thread, but like most groups/Guilds/factions, for things to "take off" and to maintain a presence, there need to be a constant purpose on the Server, in the Sword Coast world.
Few things maintain that lasting existence unless they are maintained by 2-3 dedicated Players, who can truly be satisfied with a single Character, and have plenty of leisure time to devote to the RP maintenance.
I'd put my money on finding a more rewarding experience overall to purposely create a temporary "guild" with new, for-this-purpose Characters, that exist only for running/completing a Campaign, whether it's a Player or DM-initiated campaign.
Focus on the moment and the limited experience, then move on, without feeling the insecurity of the long term falling apart.
Anyway...GO FOR IT!!!

Deeeefinitely interested in reviving the Weavemasters.
And to your point about the Church of Mystra vs a Mage's guild. One might counsel the other, but only where guidance would be sought. I've already made some IC inquiries about the Weavemasters.
