short answer: no
even to breach, the list is predictable unless they went and randomized it for whatever reason, its just getting hit multiple times that sucks but thats a mob issue at that point

That's the real problem... strip[ing] a character of their primary wards... negates their ability to participate in the dungeon at all.
I modified the sentence a wee bit... because truer words were never said. Every action has a consequence. Boost dispels? really? For what purpose, to make hard dungeon's even harder?
Cheers!
In a single paragraph, you demonstrate ignorance of two key elements of YYA's proposal:
- Only player dispels are boosted. I do not strictly agree with this part, because I'd rather change the way we use caster mobs (including dispellers) in our area design... but I see its necessity in the current environment.
- He is also removing the primary function of the Spell Breach line (auto-dispelling breachable spells). Most spellcasting bosses cast Disjunction, which automatically dispels up to 6 breachable spells. Even if they received a +5 to their dispel checks (which isn't currently part of the proposal), the loss of the breach effect could make it a net nerf.
Fair point as I certainly admit to technical-ignorance relative to some of the game's mechanics. However, my larger point remains valid. Any action taken - to include boosting player dispels, et al - will have consequences that force yet more modifications... it's an endless cycle that tends to result in making hard dungeons even harder over time.
Cheers!

There is a reason why breach list exists.
If breach did not exist, any non caster would be completely hopeless against any caster be it Pc or NPc.
Shield spells? DR spells? Etc etc etc.
Wands, scrolls will never dispel full caster.
The breach gives chance to fight least. Otherwise all what could some melee non spell caster do against even buffed NPC would be stand and hope to outlast spell duration.

Imagine what would happen if:
a) breach was reduced or removed
Spellcasters will become untouchable by anyone who is not full CL.
b) is replaced with proposed backlash spell
b 1) that spell does not depand on CL
Massive, horrendous outcry and quittin of people who play classes that rely on magic in every single aspect (battleclerics, favored souls, bards) when they start to die to instant spells from circle lvl 3 from npcs and pcs alike.
b2)is reliant on CL
Then result a) applies

A more likely outcome of B2 is a diminished variant of B1. I, for one, have proposed methods of tying Magical Backlash to caster level without nerfing its wands/scrolls into the ground.

Then any sucker with scroll lvl 3 would demolish any cleric in on or two spells

I wouldn't even allow that to happen to wizards, who are considerably squishier than clerics.
At any rate, this thread's being discussed internally now. I don't know how much maneuvering room I have to share the direction that discussion's going right now, so I'll leave it up to someone with more than a month's experience.
