Removal of the arbitrary Dodge AC cap has been a discussion now that they know how to do it. What would be the issue with this? More AC is better.

Unlimited numbers all over server meaning all npcs must go up in numbers meaning avarage builds will have harder time to catch on npcs or otherwise npcs will become just mere trivial obstacle in front of chest....

That said, it warrants mentioning that the cap is probably not the right fix. The problem exists, and the cap fixes it, but there are better ways of fixing it, IMO.

If we start going down this rabbit hole, then most feats granting an on-use ability designed primarily for combat should become Free Actions too for the same reason.
We're all ready down this rabbit hole and out the other side. Divine Might and Divine Shield are two of the very few on-use abilities that haven't been changed to Free Actions; at this point, it would be bringing them more in line with where combat mechanics have gone for pretty much everything else.

Why would NPCs go up in numbers? The announced PvE changes endeavor to tone the PvE content down, not up.

Regardless, this is not an issue with bloat. This an issue with Combat Expertise being arbitrarily changed to Dodge AC. Before this change, I/CE was untyped and I was not hitting the cap when I used Divine Shield. Now I am. We have taken a step in the wrong direction here.

Complete Warrior, 106. Free action for DM. Standard action for DS.

+1 Add Fiery Fists and All-Out Assault to the "please make a free action" pile.

I think it could be applied as a base shield bonus, but I can't remember offhand if the shield bonus is tallied if you're not holding a shield.

My crusader Paladin was build around Divine Shield working with my Bastard sword, losing that AC bonus actually would hurt and I see no reason for such a crippling effect. I am all for it being a free action or not, or other changes...or just leaving it as it is.

The Shield spell is a shield enhancement bonus that doesn't require the wearing of a shield.

Shield enhancement bonus doesn't stack, however, which is what Dodge is doing.

Do we need more power creep in the ways of AC, though? People are sitting on 55-60 AC easily these days it seems like. In the past, these kinds of numbers were mainly seen in druids, dwarven defenders and a few monks.

Sorry, I meant, I don't know if base shield AC is tallied if you're not holding a shield. Shield enhancement seems to be.
