Re: The Bladesinger PRC
Just for clarification purposes, I seem to have missed two things after re-reading this thread.
1. Why are half elves not listed as able to take this class?
2. What does imbuing a spell into your sword actually do? Is this a once per day, timer based, or an activated casting before combat begins?

1. No power concern there, can be changed, DM team call.
2. You activate song of celeirty mode, spend a round casting a spell and then the spell is stored, to be cast at the next target you hit in melee. So in all likelyhood you do that before combat begins.

I am baffled by the people saying this is too strong. Simply baffled. This is nothing but rp fluff class, and I'd rather not have it in in this form at all.
Out of curiosity, where were you all when the discussion was to nerf or remove favored soul? I didn't see you standing up for this idea of balance then. But somehow something coming even close to FS (which this isn't LOL), is going too far?

Well, it's the QC that decided to adopt this notion of balance, in the first place. It is the reason the playerbase has to engage in deep philosophical debate with you guys whenever they want something utterly harmless added. Because "muh balance"

Those debates would still happen, no matter how harmless the content is, or whatever notion of balance we adopt. That is the only certain thing. The Whistler wrote:Well, it's the QC that decided to adopt this notion of balance, in the first place. No, they would not, or they wouldn't be several pages long at any rate. I guess it's too late to find out for certain, but try to guess how many people would protest adding all of the Kpack classes before this silly idea of balance took root.

You mean there arent/werent such discussion on every other server with kpack? Content that some considered OP or content that thought it would need a nerf? It even happens on competitive games, such as DOTA2.The Whistler wrote:No, they would not. This is an issue that will happen no matter what.

Re: The Bladesinger PRC
The simple fact is there are over 100 people that play this game and all of them have different idea's about what they want and about what is OP or UP. Everyone wants new content, but anything that is introduced is going to piss off a certain group of players and make other players happy. My point was only that if you piss off a group for something being OP and another group because it is UP then IMO you've got it just about right.

Or maybe that your entire idea and system of balance is completely useless and wrong.chad878262 wrote:The simple fact is there are over 100 people that play this game and all of them have different idea's about what they want and about what is OP or UP. Re: The Bladesinger PRC
I will answer this bit.Comments Only wrote:Now, although Bladesinger does require some feats to qualify, what is the IC or OOC role-playing baggage of playing one? Possibly helping out a fellow elf when you encounter one?
Bladesingers have to play it as an elven paladin, without being bound to lawful as the Tel'Seldarine are not, and much of elven societies are chaotic good. It differs from the Champion of Corellon Larethian, but they are still honorbound to come to aid of any elf in distress. They have to troubleshoot, defend and promote the elven way of life and keep the high standards as they are always being watched by their kin should they do something wrong. Or even the Seldarine, by way of their clergy and being judged by them or fellow Bladesingers.
That means they have to drop what they are doing to help out elves, but that isn't what they are limited to. A DM could easily place something in the way where they are forced to act, even if it is at cost of their life. (I've had a few instances where my character was compelled to act despite imminent threat of death.)
There also exist regional differences for instance the Bladesingers coming from Evermeet have tasks to find and return the lost, or stolen Enchanted swords to their rightful place in service to Queen Amlaruil.
Historically they were also the knights, the elite guards and the bodyguards to the nobility, the specialists in fighting magical monsters threatening the elven realms against dragons, demons and the like, though in recent times they have to be one man/woman problem solvers for elves, going wherever they are needed and asked for, with the combination of elven grace and versatility in fighting and the Art, epitomised in the Bladesong.

Truth! From 0 to outrage in 2 seconds. Take a chill pill folks.mrm3ntalist wrote:This is an issue that will happen no matter what.
It looks pretty balanced to me considering the builds it's being compared to. Definitely not overpowered. Also, it's easier add to the class later if needed, than take away from it if it turns out to be too strong. I would have prefered it to lean slightly more towards a melee focus, like someone else suggested, but overall looks interesting.

You are welcome to apply to staff and contribute your immense skillset, or make your own server and balance it yourself, since your idea of balance must be far superior.Thids wrote:Or maybe that your entire idea and system of balance is completely useless and wrong.chad878262 wrote:The simple fact is there are over 100 people that play this game and all of them have different idea's about what they want and about what is OP or UP. That could be it. Or you could be wrong. Who is right or wrong is not very clear. Everyone has his/hers own version. What is obvious though, is how are things done on this server. You read the custom changes and the content and decide whether you can live with those or not. That is an easy choice for everyone to make.Thids wrote:Or maybe that your entire idea and system of balance is completely useless and wrong.

Re: The Bladesinger PRC
Oh no no, you are mistaking this discussion as a something that isn't known for sure. The simple fact is that I am right, and your logic of balance is broken. Your ideal of balance are ranger and paladin, to whom you look to when determining the power of all new classes, while bards and favored souls exist within your system and you refuse to tone either down towards what you consider the ideal of balance. There is no "maybe" in this, your logic is simply wrong.mrm3ntalist wrote:That could be it. Or you could be wrong. Who is right or wrong is not very clear. Everyone has his/hers own version. Why? So I could spend my days arguing with people who are too stubborn to realize when their entire idea of balance is wrong? No thanks. I'd rather focus on more important things, while leaving a comment or two here and there, proving to you every single time how wrong you are.chad878262 wrote:You are welcome to apply to staff and contribute your immense skillset, or make your own server and balance it yourself, since your idea of balance must be far superior.Thids wrote:Or maybe that your entire idea and system of balance is completely useless and wrong.chad878262 wrote:The simple fact is there are over 100 people that play this game and all of them have different idea's about what they want and about what is OP or UP.
