I think Random Loot generator is needed. Finding something rare that can't be bought anywhere is nice. The generator might need some tweaking, though, because it stronlgy favors junk. Getting gold instead of junk might be better.

The problem is... they all originate from investing massive amounts of time into OOC-loot grinding.
I agree with snarfy here. The thing is, I don't remember any need to grind/loot to the death in original Nwn2 campaign. You could afford some items, you couldn't afford some other items, you couldn't buy everything, but in the end you ahd your minimum set of adventuring gear.
And that was nice.
I think this is the kind of experience worth aiming at. You start with character then eventailly you get the gear necessary for that character, even if you don't go all out of your way earning money. The majority of content should be beatable with that gear. However if you need something rare and special to beat some of the exceptional creatures, you'll need to spend time and effort to get that.
If someone accumulates too much gold/items too quickly... then it might be possible to address that specifically (how does a gold tax for everyone over 1mil gold sound, for example?).
I don't think I have anything else to add on the topic, though.

Yes 99.99999999% of what get's dropped is junk, but I still have a half dozen items I've found that aren't epic, but are nice gear that I like having, such as my +3 WIS hood with immunity to fear. If none of this dropped and we could only purchase gear eventually you have a bunch of similar 'builds' with the same dozen or so gear setups.
Similar gear set ups, yes. Unsure what's bad about that.
They'll still have different RP, right?

Lack of uniqueness. What's bad is that the epic cloak of awesomeness has more a feel of the newest carhartt jacket instead of truly magical item if everyone has the same one. If occasionally someone has a cloak that gives a more unique benefit (even if lesser, to some classes/builds/characters it may be more important) than it adds to the diversity.

Yes, but differentiation of equipment is an important part of the game to me, and I am sure to others as well.

Surely you would still be able to make the gear look exactly how
you'd like?
You don't know what the other person is wearing.
It seems like the problem is all in your mind.

It would be all fine and balanced, but not very fun for me. I like finding stuff. I like the randomness of even the junk. I like the anticipation of an uncracked chest.
Gold would be boring for me, personally.

we know all, if you build a super boss killing you get 5000 gold there 4 or 5 boss that give 5000 per 30 min that is all worng we need to do something, that it is really bad as the one chest per reset we all get one per reset remember the server has 9 hour that will be 18 time you can kill one boss and how many boss was i talk about 5 x 18 how much is that ? 450000gp per reset is that much for a 5 boss frost king, dragonlich, balor ,white dragon and there some small boss there give 1000gp dont know how many there 2 or 3 so it is not 450000gp per server reset

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
My opinion:
Epic Store = Good
RP non-looters concerned about items = confusing, but understandable as a looter.....anyways
Only thing I can think, to satisfy RPers need for RP and the ability to access EPic Store items at reasonable prices, would be for the thieves guild to gain access periodically selling items at half price to "insiders". If you would be a Paladin RPer, guess you would be SOL but perhaps the DMs might hold an event for the goodie two shoes periodically stopping contraband shipments, whatever.

There is a certain other PW that I think handled this sort of issue rather well.
PC crafters that enchant your gear for a price, usually crafter base fee + enchantment level fee + material components (if not provided by the client).
Gathering materials is limited by skills and level, higher end enchantments require higher end materials gathered at higher CR locations, materials can also be a source of gold if sold/traded. Crafting requires building your "cook book" through adventuring and finding the recipies which can also be traded/sold between players.
This may or may not solve the costs side of things, it depends on how the economy of enchantment settles in this server, but on the other server it was quite reasonable and i'm not a Professional Looter. The other advantage is that getting the good stuff can all be done ICly. Trades and barters for materials, recipies and the enchants themselves... all ICly. The item can be custom enchanted to your liking and needs (enchant limits still apply). And finally the cream of the crop enchants (typically +4's were only handed through DM intervention as it required special RP awarded Tokens as currency.
Breif note: the RP tokens could be handed for exceptional RP, but there was a slow but sure way to get them which was only a mater of time. i cannot recal but for the sake of argument lets say you get 1 minor token per 1000 RP xp per week, when you have 5 minor token you could upgrade to a medium one, and with 5 mediums you could upgrade to a large token. Higher end enchants would cost x number of medium token to 1 large token.
I'm not dissing BGTSCC over any other server, jsut stating my opinion that I prefer a system such as the one described over an Epic Loot store as it favors RP and Interactions. Looting sprees are kidna curb stomped as although more money is usually always better, if you don't RP and intereact with server and events, you generally don«'t have enough tokens to spend on the really good stuff.
Again jsut stating my opinion, if this server is for some reason agaisnt this sort of mechanic then disregard everything i said.
Cheers.

From my POV if the server aim is to cater to all play styles as best we can, then if people want to grind gold to buy epic gear from devils or Thayans or, even worse, elves (kidding!) then that doesn't prevent us from implementing an RP reward system like the one Ium describes so that people who choose not to play that way don't feel they're at a disadvantage.
Having special rewards needs to be carefully controlled though, to avoid accusations of favoritism.
One idea I've just had, probably a terrible one, is to replace the current XP reward pot with RP tokens that can be exchanged for XP as before, or converted into crafting materials.
Like I say, this is a very flawed idea.

Amazing that this thread is nearly a year old and still getting replies. I still hate the idea of the epic store.

This right here needs to stop. Just stop parroting this. I don't care if there is favoritism. FOr gods sake this line right here is why DMs are afraid to award a thing. There are no needs for any controls that the team and server have not already done.
If someone does not have a item they want then they have not communicated to the server (Merchants and traders in RP) or DMs (Plot requests and what you are working towards).
I am beginning to think people don't get these things because they do not work for them a bit. Not just going to hand out stuff for virtually nothing.
Took me a bit to come to this and AC81 had to prod me a bit and semi yell at me over it.

That's the only way you listen, Calodan...
I do agree about DM rewards though. With the Epic Store there is no real reason that DM's should have to be so careful about awards. Sure, they shouldn't be handing out Avernus level or above equipment after a 2 hour event, but there is nothing wrong with handing out minor rewards that could be found in any chest, or just plopping a few CR appropriate chests at the end of some adventures or any number of other way to reward players after an event.
Of course when I am in a DM event, I am generally having too much fun to really consider what reward I may receive... However, I have never had the time to be able to participate in the long term server plot lines which I am sure are a bit different.
