Some questions that popped into mind:
Will Freedom of Movement Block grappling or grappling attempts?
What happens if someone is grappled and manages to cast dimension door or some other movement ability and is now 50 feet away from their grappler? Are the scripts set up to remove grapple status in this instance?
"All characters receive this feat for free" at the end of the Feat+Improved version descriptions is a little unclear. I assume the base feat is granted free and you have to burn a feat selection to get the improved version (or do you really get both for free and if so why not just combine them into one feat?)

Yes.

Grappling uses essentially a melee-range aura on the grappling character, which handles all round-to-round functions. If someone teleports out of that aura, it ends the grapple on both characters.

You get the base one for free. The improved one has to be purchased with feats.

A lot of effort has gone into these changes. Overall I see them as an absolute positive for the server.
I've no doubt that in time, with the PvE changes coming, that the AC loss for some builds will not be as devestating as they might seem to be now.
Looking forward to adjusting my builds. And the head scratching to follow.

I also am going to post a bit off my rant here...
I have been very vocal about my disagreement with a few things on this list... however:
THIS LIST OF STUFF IS AMAZING.
it represents an astronomical amount of work by one or a few people with honest intent of providing an increased quality of life and better game play.
Disagree or agree with the changes, please give Rhifox some thanks and respect for the ungodly amount of effort that has been put into this, for free, on her spare time, for no other reason than she wants to.
Thank you very much.

[T]his update, together with other changes that have already gone in, will make BGtSCC feel like a new game with the same graphics. Twenty years after release, is it really wise to subvert game mechanics so radically? I like improving little things, but this is way more than that. Myself, I will be clueless as to how to play this game or even fix my chars after this update goes live; does anyone feel the same? I also predict NPC enemies will be eating us all alive after the update. Well, maybe not all of us - duelists and parry fighters will do well.
I too am clueless on how to fix all of my characters based on these changes. I for one have consistently benefited from those players who are true students of the game's mechanics and provide insightful build advice. I hope the 100% RCR period spans a good 6 weeks as it is going to take some time to get use to the " new game with the same graphics" mechanics.
Cheers!

I'm considering the feedback given on the AC stuff right now. It may be rolled back for a future patch and just the combat actions included for this update.
On another note, armor optimization will now count as a proper boost to your armor's base value, rather than a dodge bonus. So it won't be lost by being flatfooted and won't count for the dodge cap.

The 100% RCR will be like the warlock RCR. You get one free RCR if your character is old enough, and can take that at any time.

will improved parry work the same lowering the shift needed to counter-attack on Total Defense?
Will combat styles such as Athkatlan Triplate/Sembian Fencing/ Northlander Hewing work with Total/Partial defense?
what about classes who get Disarm/Knockdown/ Feint as class abilities, will they now grant the improved version?
???

1. Improved Parry will work the same.
2. Currently, yes.
3. Yes.

I really appreciate you taking this in to consideration, whatever the decision is. And id like to echo artemitavik here and take the opportunity to thank you for the massive work you put in to this place. That goes to all the staff really, having been here since the dawn of the server, its incredible to see the server keeps improving and growing.
Much respect and appreciation.

So, dex based melee characters will lose 5 ac. 3 from tumble and 2 from armor optimization, unless they want to always be in combat modes that either make their AB worse or take away all their regular attacks.

would like to point out the negative effect the ac changes, if and when implemented, will have on sword and shield crit reliant weapon users. if forced to use fighting defensively they lose ab. if forced to use athkatlan triparite they lose 3 attacks per round. they need all 6 attacks per round for crit chance rolls, and need to hit for these crits to apply. you'd be removing sword and shield crit weapon viability from the server
edit: rogues being negatively effected due to their bab was mentioned above. hips was mentioned as a counter, but rogues need ac as well, as hips has a cooldown, so the negative effects to ab for necessary ac still apply
