You're rping on a medium RP server with a D&D setting ,not haven lite/social server or what so ever.
Immersion is also a part of role play and gives the DM team an area to work with, by taking too much liberty with the rulebook you reduce the immersion for the sake of 'every one being happy' which reduces the RP setting from medium to lite.

People do plenty of conflict RP when it suits them in the form of DM events or killing monsters, even if their character is not interested in conflict.
However when the conflict RP will limit their own narrative than it becomes an issue, especially when they might up losing Icly.
Edel is wording exactly what is bothering me 'everything goes for the sake of fun' even when it just bluntly means ignoring the setting/rp at hand for the sake of a persons own narrative.

If I speak my mind about the current server state is that it turns more into haven lite with a focus on specific type of RP.
Some of you might enjoy this, I don't.

What I would like to ask the DM team is to discuss with each other RP in general and how people should perceive rp on this server, think of topics such as.

- Accountability of your IC actions (Casting pact magic on the farmlands, running with humans skulls on your armor, worshiping Talos)
- Unlikely race/class combinations (Paladin Grey orc /Paladin drow/ Aasimar blackguard/ elf following malar/talos)
- How levels should be perceived (You're 30 but the DM rps you're just a green adventurer)
- If the server should embrace conflict RP or allow people to do what they want with no real consequences.
- A vision how the team wants to see the RP be on this server
- If they still want it to be a medium RP server

Take a clear stance and see what rolls out of it, after that it will be easy to decide what to do with the UD restrictions.

In my opinion restricting the UD was a big mistake. Most fun I had was the drow raids to the surface. Aloria took out Izz'orgoll 5-6 times lol.

The UD is a great source of RP that would greatly add to the service. Also, it may serve to attract old UD players, since if as a server you stop growing and improving, you are actually dying.

I am in favor of reopening the Underdark and vice versa, with some restrictions to aid in immersion/setting (or whatever you want to call it). Arelith server for NWN1 permits both sides to go both places to a great extent, but it gets a bit annoying when your low level Drow cannot pummel an annoying surface player because they are 25 levels higher than you and there's no way to sic NPC guards on them or no other highlevel Drow players are around.

So I wonder if there is some way of slowly weakening players of the opposing side when they visit, so they know they are out of their depth and could eventually be slain by even a lowly Drow commoner. And secondly if there could somehow be made snowflake exceptions to hostile kill-on-sight rules that are easy for players to understand.

Surface sunlight radiation: Underdark races suffer health or level drain down to level 1 over time while above ground.
Middledark faerzress radiation: Surface races suffer health or level drain down to level 1 over time in the Middledark.

Attunement: PC can over a long time period gradually attune toward the opposite side from character creation. The more attuned they are to one side the less they are to the other, affecting how soon the level/health drain begins and how quickly it is maxed out. This lets Eilistraean Drow eventually attune to the surface or outcast surfacers attune to the Underdark, etc. Permitting evil Drow to still raid the surface for a short while before dipping back into the Underdark, etc. Maybe some way of players seeing a vague hint how severely affected other players are of this radiation (otherwise all starting players will assume you are still level 30 and avoid attacking you at all, even if your RP is supposed to annoy them like crazy).

Embassies: somewhere in Rockrun or such neutral areas you can ask for a permit inside otherwise hostile areas. The permit would cost a bunch of gold and be temporary. Without a permit you are marked as hostile kill on sight as normal, otherwise you are marked non-hostile to opposing players (who should still approach you with suspicion and demand you show the permit and state your purpose of visit, etc). Drow inside Baldur's Gate or surfacers in Sshamath should be given a very short leash RP wise so, even with a permit, if they annoy the citizenry they are very much expected to be killed anyway without repercussion from the guards. These permits should be made with care, maybe on a cooldown/similar so it's not something handed out willy nilly, otherwise Baldur's Gate and Sshamath quickly devolve into free for all neutral cities.

Thank you everyone for all your input and the vote, I have moved this staff side for the entire staff of the server to discuss and think on. I am sure within about a month we can come to some sort of final decision.
