I never meant this as a sort of way to give certain PCs authority or control over others for OOC reasons, that would be bad.

My suggestion was more like a sort of... recognition of a player's capability and maturity from the community that would render that player suitable for the role of what I call a community DM and describe above. In absolutely no occasion would these individuals be in any way superior to other members of this server, IC or OOC, at least no because of their community DM status. In fact I like to think of them as volunteers helping in the making the UD a more interesting place by playing the role of a lesser DM and running small events for that goal. I hope that clarifies my point.

It does.. and I'll stand by mine. Players arent going to get titles that give them any real or perceived power over another player. We have DMs, we have Players. Players can (and DO) RP positions of respect that allow them to create player-led campaigns, 'events', adventures, etc.

You dont need a title to do that. It just requires a willingness to RP.

On the topic of deep gnomes, I have rolled one and am enjoying it, though we are indeed rare. And I defiantly second the idea of some DM love down in the UD.

And the player run event was really good, I actually wasn't aware that he wasn't a DM til the end!

By the way make sure you make a post in the forums before anyone runs any event, if it's possible.

If there were to be an event in UD after so many weeks and I were to miss it because I didn't know about it, I would be probably start making Sanity checks (cthulhu d20).

That is exactly the problem with UD, sometimes I feel like that myself.

However I also believe that by just mentioning it and expecting a DM to come down there and make things perfect is not ok. Sometimes you have to give something in advance before you can earn what you deserve. That is partially why I haven't created a surface character toon. I believe that if I and other players devote more time in playing UD characters Ssamath is going to become a much more interesting place, thus giving DMs an extra motive to run events.

I didn't mean it as in forcing everyone to play a UD character every so and then . I just know for a fact that there are many people who fall under the same category as Iz, people who have UD characters and hesitate to play them because UD is somewhat deserted. People who actually have an active interest in drow culture and/or Underdark should do their best to improve the situation down there and create RP opportunities. I do not claim to be the best on doing that. It's just my humble personal opinion.

I made my Duergar a long time ago. I left for a year. I came back to find that there seems to be a different group of Underdarkians and he just doesn't fit in anymore. That is the reason I haven't been down there.

Oh, and when I do log on with that twerp, most of the people I see in the Underdark are doing the solo-only chest runs.
